Am I the only one who, when I read the manga, I imagine my own coloring, and then I see the painted works of art and see something completely different?
This happened to me a lot in Magic Knight Rayearth. @_@ It was crazy.
ANYWAY! Discuss how you originally pictured the characters, and if possible post a colored version of your thoughts. ^_^ Or just talk about how perfect they're colored. Whatever. ^_^

Just to start things off...:sweaT: When I read Magic Knight Rayearth, I imagined everyone differently. >_> I took the liberty of coloring an Umi, just so you guys could see what I "see" when I read the manga:

Off the top of my head, I can't remember a time where this happened to me with a CLAMP work but I remember lots of times when it happened to me with other stuff. *coughcoughFLAMEOFRECCAcoughcough* What really bugs me though is when through like cover art or profiles in the books they establish a cannon coloring of hair and eyes and then the anime comes along and says "Hahahahaha we aren't gonna do that! Let's come up with our OWN design!" Like Chii - she has silver hair in the manga but when the anime comes around... RANDOM BLONDNESS. It didn't bother me after a while but when I first saw it I literally cried, "Chii is not a blooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnddd..." If I think of any particular cases which actually relate to the main idea ( sweatdrop ) of this thread I'll be sure to post again.
PS: Random sidenote - ever felt this way about the voice acting when you watch the anime after having read the manga?

Umi is definitely a blond. Like, no doubt. But, then, it's like....she wasn't.
Chii's hair is silver? I thought it was a really really light blond. Like, a lighter shade than Fai's.

Yeah...but Umi was probably the only thing that ever bothered me.
That and Yuzuki.
I thought Chii was more of a blondish-silver.

For me, I was never sure about Yuko's eye colour. Then the CLAMP versions have her eyes being red, yellow, and maybe some other colour. It confuses me. crying

A note about Holic's coloring. They usually adjust the eye color to match the tone of the picture. The anime has the definite color for their eyes. Yuko is red, like Kuro, and Watanuki is blue, and I believe that Doumeki is a red/brown...and Himawari...I don't remember. ^^;;
Wait, what color is Yuzuki's hair?

@yuko--That's true. Clamp isn't the only one who does that.
@fai-- Maybe the anime people made Chii a blond because on the cover of volume one there were bits of yellow? @__@ xp
My sis and I make jokes about Minoru's bad memory. Because of the hair and the fact that Yuzuki doesn't play Angelic Layer...>.>
