I saw this discussion in a forum and I thought I 'd bring it here.

How do you choose, I should say, what to cosplay?
Is it the dificulty or easyness of a costume?
IS it the sexyness or flashyness of a charactor or costume?
Is it becuase someone said you looked like that charactor, or you think you look like that charactor?
Or did yo simply just want to do it, cuz you lovee it soo much?

TEll us what inspired you or what inspirations you might of had to cosplay some of the cosplay's you have done in the past or plan to do in the future?

Normally I base what to cosplay off of the characters that I love the most or can relate the most to. I need to be able to "feel" them in order to make the long process of costume making a labor of love, and of course to be able to get into character when the time comes to show off my work. Of course this wasn't true with my first cosplay, Rose. Infact with her, I wanted to cosplay something, loved Legend of dragoon and thought it would be easy (HA!), although it was through cosplaying her that I realize how much I really loved her, and learned so much about her character. It was a good fit, I just didn't know it at the time.

I feel the same. I like to cosplay charactors I feel most comfertable with.
At Conventions for sure, but like sometimes for Halloween I might cosplay something I just love even if I'm not to comfertable.

For exaple one time I cosplayed the Queen of HEarts from alice in wonderland and I didnt' think I did to good a job.
I just love her charactor, but I wasn't comfertable ...... since I was only around friends and family it was no biggie.
I dont know why?
I guess cuz I looked nothing like her, and some kids thought I was like cinderella.
xp

That's another thing, I like to pick charactors I will most likely resemble, I hate...I mean just HATE for people to ask me..."sooo...who are you supposto be" I mean it's not that bad, but when they are like rude about it, it's really annoying.
I never ask anyone, usually I'll guess later on or someone will tell me.

To me it's like if you can't tell who I am, then I did a bad job...and I don't like to ask people cuz I dont' want them thinking they did a bad job.
lol

I don't know, I guess I'm weird like that.

well, since I cosplay with my sister, and this year my sister and my boyfriend, I pick some costumes that are at my skill level, characters that I like enough to devote time to, look enough like us that we can pull it off, and go well together as a set.
Oh, and of course ones that have recognizable costumes, preferably not something everyone else at the con will be wearing

I mainly base a cosplay off of how much I like a character and how well I could cosplay them.

Ex. I would cosplay as Chii because I love her and I'm small enough (height wise and chest wise) to do it. All I'd need is a wig.

I wouldn't cosplay as Mori on Ouran, I do love him but I'm no where near tall enough to attempt that XD
