The restaurant is closing and it is late at night, as can be seen through the large windows of the restaurant, but the soft jazz music still plays in the background and the soft amber lights over the coveted corner table are still on.
In the booth-like area so close to the wall that their leather-padded chair's backs touch the dark, abstract motif-covered wall, they are lounging forward, elbows on the golden smooth wooden table, with the scattered remnants of their repast (empty dishes and the like) pushed out of the way to clear a working space.
Melkor and Feanor are carrying on a lively discussion with a pair of silver forks that glint in the lamp light, gesticulating to demonstrate how a certain piece of mechanism is supposed to be working and how it may be improved.
In between bites of the sweet chocolate mousse dessert, Feanor and Melkor scribble down rough diagrams and sketches on table napkins and pass it back and forth to each other.
They take turns trying to change the mechanism's uses. They have been at this discussion for hours now, and neither of them seems tired. Or bored.
The server sneaks a glance at the two businessmen in the corner booth and shakes his head, going back to cleaning the rich golden wood of a smooth tabletop.
Soon, of course, they will have to leave. but not right now. Regretfully, the last of the desserts are cleared away and Melkor pushes his chair away from the table, straightening out the napkins they have covered in varied diagrams. He organizes them into a single semi-neat stack and turns to the waiter, gesturing for the check. "Check please." he says, and his soft, rich voice carries.
The restaurant is well designed for acoustics and given the emptiness of the rest of the place, the servers movve with justifiable alacrity to clear away the dishes and put the check by his elbow.
He pulls out the necessary funds from his wallet and puts it in the check's dark leather folder, then turns to Feanor.
"So I suppose I will be seeing you in the office tomorrow?" he asks, carefully, and somewhat.. unsure, despite the fact that he hides it very well.

Feanor's at a board meeting. He's wearing a business suite. He's sitting with his chin hidden behind his hands, and watching the board members who are discussing whether or not to fund his experiments. He looks annoyed and uncomfortable. The sun glints in, through the panoramic windows, and he can see the light glinting off the skyscrapers in the distance. He can practically see the whole city from here. Aule owns the company but lets the board members decide what projects to pursue, and right now, plenty of them do NOT want to fund Feanor's newest project. Some are even patronizing him.
Feanor thinks of them as cockroaches and wonders why Aule hasn't squashed them yet.
Some of them are portly hobbits. Some are fat old men with thinning silver hair. Others are elves, still young-lookigng and graceful butwith an air of great age.
DjibrilShadow: Feanor's main obstacle is Artanis. A hotshot executive, she's blockading his proposals. He doesn't even know why. She's very pretty, if you like the stuck up, ice queen type, with her always pristine white business suits and cravats and the silver rimmed glasses... and her hair always braided elaborately.
He pities her husband. Celeborn is said to be the quiet house-husband type of fellow... and Artanis is definitely the meddling wife who finds fault in everything. Feanor thinks this.
Probably, he thinks... she inherits her nasty temper from INDIS. His father's second wife is after all, Artanis' close cousin. =.=;; They're both bitches, he thinks, enraged as his latest revolutionary idea is turned down.
He leaves the room, with his files, He will not leave his secrets here, if they will not let him produce them or experiment with them. NO. He would rather keep them all to himself... OR... His beeper beeps at him and he checks it. A single line of text scrolls in elvish. It is a message from Melkor. "You busy tonight?"
...Feanor has just found his new funder. His mood returns to smug resolve as he heads down to the bus terminal next to the office. ...Now he just has to talk Melkor INTO it. >D
