Recently on CBC Television (Canada) there was a program that was home audience interactive that tested your IQ. The studio audience was divided into 7 groups: Millionaires, Surgeons, Tattoo Artists, Radio DJ's, Fitness Instructors, Celebrities & Mayor's. Each group included people from across Canada. As well you could play online.

The questions were based on Memory, Logic, Math and English with a total of 60 questions.

My IQ came out as 108 with the average IQ being between 90 - 100. My husband's came out at 136 and my teenage daughter at 100.

The program is going on for 1 month. Last week the Surgeons came out on top with the Millionaires only 1 point behind, the Tattoo Artists were last. The person with the highest IQ in the studio was a Millionaire.

My questions are:

arrow Are these tests a valid way of proving how smart someone is?

arrow Does your chosen profession make a difference?

arrow Does your gender make a difference?

arrow Does where you live make a difference?

arrow Could someone be book smart but not common sense smart and vice versa?

IQ tests can be fun but I'm not sure they really indicate how smart someone is.

One of my instructors has to give IQ tests. She finds that they really focus a lot on 'book smarts'. If anything, they really just judge your knowledge of the areas they test on. You can always work to improve, so it's not really an accurate measure of anything more than how much work you need in certain areas.

For the record, 119. I've taken some others and they've all turned up around that score. If nothing, I'm consistent.

People usually say I'm bright, but I don't have any common sense at all. Someone should invent a common sense test! If nothing else it would be interesting...
I got 100 whoo!
