Hmm... I noticed that there is Latin in SotC. For example, the last colossus is named Malus (thanks for the names, Hegel5000!), and malus means "evil" in Latin. The girl is named "Mono", which means "one" in Latin. Why is there Latin in SotC? We'll probably never know. But, the thing we can do is discuss it on this thread. pirate
Mono = one 2nd Colossus (Quadratus) = square 6th Colossus (Barba) = beard/whiskers, possibly barbarian 13th Colossus (Phalanx) = host/group of warriors 15th Colossus (Argus) = may have come from largus (bountiful) ( ^ In Greek myth, there was a hundred-eyed monster called Argus. )

But aren't all of the names unofficial? I mean, the only reason that the Wanderer and Mono even have names is because they needed to give proper credit to the voice actors. Outside of the credits list, the only characters with names are Agro, Dormin, and Lord Emon.
Personally I really like the idea that the names aren't important, that's it just a story about a boy, and a girl, and sixteen sacrifices.

Probably the colossi were only given names for the strategy guide. Taking the basic attributes of each colossus and translating them into Latin is a very efficient way of generating fitting, cool sounding names.

I never knew about that first tidbit about credit to the actors.
