" Yes I have finally made my decision"

I will now devote this Thread to Religious and social science philosophy rather than simple random thoughts that seem to flow chaoticly through my mind.

In this thread I would like to discuss things such as reilgious and social fallacies, if you understand what i'm getting at so far, and anything else that you may think applies to this thread.

Just be glad I finally decided to organize the thoughts I put out. sweatdrop

I would still like to discuss such things that I have previously listed before I revised this thread.

I'll just keep these simple statements and ideas.
And i'll update anytime I find something interesting.
And feel free to add on as you wish.

A great Zen Master once said;
"Lose yourself and you will find yourself".

No one is ever truly alone in this world, to say that one is alone is to say that nothing else exists. We all exist within one another and it could never be any different.
When we feel as if we are all alone, that only we suffer, and only we are going through this, that is the great grand illusion.
When one being suffers, we all suffer.
In one beings enlightenment, we can all find enlightenment.
In this truth we can see what is untrue.
We are never alone.

No-Mind Body: The Vimalakirti Sutra says:
If you wish to understand the truth or achieve the reality of no-mind, just stop all accessory conditions; i.e., suddenly and absolutely do not allow false thoughts and discriminatory ideas to arise. Without others, there is no self, no greed, no hate, no love, no abhorrence; neither is there victory or defeat. So just eliminate all delusions, and what remains is the Original Bright Nature.

Brain activity- Body: Categorizing the brain's electrical activity by brainwave frequency, they determined that active, thought-engaged brain states such as might be experienced while reading, conversing or directing the attention outwardly towards people, things, or problems are beta waves (13 or more cycles per second). A brain at restful peace whose attentions are directed internally upon itself in watching or witnessing its own thoughts or in contemplation of its interior spiritual contents registers slower alpha waves (8 to 12 cycles per second). A brain in an even more profound state of rest, a state in which mandalas and strange, little pictures (hypnogogic or hypnopompic images) blink into it with peculiar clarity, registers theta waves (4 to 7 cycles per second). In theta, archetypes may be directly encountered in their symbolic forms. A sleeping brain registers delta waves (0 to 4 cycles per second).
Meditation occurs only in the alpha and theta ranges.

I would also like to put out there the " oh so popular" subject of existence.

Just for some of you who wish to talk about it out.

Other wise feel free to go wild rofl

Where do we get the idea that all humans are interconnected? I see lots of suffering all over the world, and then I see people who are perfectly happy. When I am in terror, only those around me are feeling fear. Not the whole worlds is affected by my emotions.

I have heard otherwise. I have heard that the brain, when experiencing and recollecting, that the same exact parts of the brain are active in the same way. That the brain does not know the difference between reality and a memory (mostly because time flies by, and everything we do is a memory in an instant).

I hate to get all ED on you, but do you have a source for these numbers? What is a "cycle"? And just to let you know, the brain does not communicate by waves. gonk

First off I would like to say that I did say I was using these in a philosophical sense

Secondly, the resulting traces are known as an electroencephalogram (EEG) and represent an electrical signal (postsynaptic potentials) from a large number of neurons. These are sometimes called brainwaves, though this use is discouraged. Even so it is still used as a popular scientific phrase, it may not etymologically proper but it still is a commonly used phrase.

Thirdly,

When beta occurs:
Alertness
Concentration
Cognition

Beta waves range between 13-40 HZ. The Beta state is associated with peak concentration, heightened alertness, hand eye coordination and visual acuity Peak-concentration
Heightened alertness

Visual acuity

when alpha surprised cuurs
Relaxation
Visualization
Creativity

Alpha waves range between 7-12 HZ. This is a place of deep relaxation, but not quite meditation. In Alpha, we begin to access the wealth of creativity that lies just below our conscious awareness - it is the gateway, the entry point that leads into deeper states of consciousness. Alpha is also the home of the window frequency known as the Schuman Resonance - the resonant frequency of the earth's electromagnetic field.

Relaxation
Quietly Alert

Introspective

When theta: occurs
Meditation
Intuition
Memory

Theta waves range between 4-7 HZ. Theta is one of the more elusive and extraordinary realms we can explore. It is also known as the twilight state which we normally only experience fleetingly as we rise up out of the depths of delta upon waking, or drifting off to sleep. In Theta, we are in a waking dream, vivid imagery flashes before the mind's eye and we are receptive to information beyond our normal conscious awareness. Theta has also been identified as the gateway to learning and memory.
Waking-dream
Vivid imagery

When delta: occurs
Detached Awareness
Healing
Sleep

Long, slow, undulating. Delta is the slowest of all four brain wave frequencies. Most commonly associated with deep sleep, certain frequencies in the Delta range also trigger the release of Human Growth Hormone so beneficial for healing and regeneration

Delta waves range between 0-4 HZ.

Deep sleep

Finally, the experiment that you have heard of is still on going. So theres not much that can actually be said unless you wish to compare and discuss the results from the experiments that have taken place.
Regardless these "Brain Waves" have a very important role within this experiment are not being disregarded.

So please if you wish to go by ED standards do get relivant information from citied sources instead of saying this oh and by the way google what I have said about brain waves and you'll find a great deal of information all I say is do not rely on sites such as wikipedia.

And on that note let me apologize for making this statement so asinine, just please remember to actually pay attention to things that I have metioned. Especially if i may be confused on the subject and keep that in mind otherwise we'll have another situation like this. I'm not that good at putting my true thoughts down.

Philosophy still has to make sense, otherwise it is complete and utter nonsense.

Saying that the brain has "electroencephalogram" in it does not make it so. To support an idea with scientific fact, one must provide a source. Popular scientific phrases do not make something correct. "Global Warming," a very popular concept, it under very much debate.

So that pretty much makes everything else you've said stuff off the top of your head, which is somewhat interesting, but none of it has been proven (in this thread).

As for your claim that these experiments I have heard on are ongoing, I would like evidence to that as well, since I am into collecting data. Not to mention the fact that most scientific research is ongoing. Nothing is "discovered" and then never looked at again.

ED standards are not standards for no reason. A person cannot make a proper arguement without any sort of evidence backing them up. That isn't just ED. That's everywhere. As for where the experiments I saw and where they came from, this was not an internet source. The internet, overall, is very biased, and I use wikipedia often because the definitions are often correct (as I know them to be so).

I paid attention. They didn't make much scientific sense in my eye. It actually sounded very metaphysical, which I am not entirely against, but do realize a lot of that can't be proven, and not everyone is going to buy it.

Well, it's a personal part of my opinion that all things are connected. We all live in a natural flow of life. Hey, we discussed something like this over in C.U.L.T., let me find it... here we go... it was actually talking about fate and destiny, but the interconnectability thing was addressed, here's one of the postings, perhaps the main one that may be of some assistance...

Curse of the night
I personly think that there might be a plan of how things are suppost to happen. But thing never happen the way there suppost to. We can change our destainy depending on the paths that we choose. So you can never know what the future holds.

hmm very interesting, but for argument's sake, who's to say that the entropy is actually not a part of the plan?

Who is to say that although things may not go according to what is perceived as the plan, maybe everything is just gradually ftting into place.

For example, something happens on earth that seems random and with no point, but if you were on another side of the universe, you would see the causes and ramifications of such an action as clear as day.

An example, let's say a big group of people die on earth for no reason, kinda like a bermuda triangle thing... they just dissappear. But for those who believe ina general flow of life perspective (i.e. in order for life to grow, life must be taken from somewhere else kinda thing), they may not see where the created life is, the (oh gawd, forgive what seems like a Full Metal Alchemist allusion) the equivalent exchange. But what they didn't observe is that maybe a tree or some other life grew. Or maybe, if there are lifeforms outside of this planet (No, not scientology), maybe some life was created there.

As for the other stuff... really not sure what yall were getting at with the beta and theta and whatnot... you see, to me, Beta is a correction factor and theta is a time constant on equations for heat flow and transfer, lol. Plus, I only skimmed it.

I haven't decided what to name this thread. Since some of this is based off certain philosophy. Such as from buddishm etc etc. And we can pretty much discuss social science or rather normative analysis. Which can just as easily apply to this subject

No-Self-
Body: Love and joy and all the best in life, if we are attached to them, are going to bring the opposite along also. That's why in meditation we practice accepting the feeling of these things. When we accept things for what they are, we're no longer attached to them. They just are what they are; they arise and cease, they're not a self.

I was just kinda thinking about it since hearing this ideal once again.
"money can't buy happines"

Well I can't agree with that because people differ so basically for some money can buy happiness "which is for people who are into materialism et cetera" but for others they can find happiness in some other way.

but what I think is money can't but poverty sweatdrop yeah i was watching a movie and this came to my mind when they said it sweatdrop

A relative truth-
Body: There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.

Letting Go-
Body: For the ultimate in the practice of Buddhist meditation, the Buddha taught the practice of ''letting go''. Don't carry anything around! Detach! If you see goodness, let it go. If you see rightness, let it go. These words, ''let go'', do not mean that we don't have to practice. It means that we have to practice following the method of ''letting go'' itself. The Buddha taught us to contemplate all dhammas, to develop the path through contemplating our own body and heart. The Dhamma isn't anywhere else. It's right here! Not someplace far away. It's right here in this very body and heart of ours.

Belief-
Body: Kalama Sutra

"Rely not on the teacher/person, but on the teaching. Rely not on the words of the teaching, but on the spirit of the words. Rely not on theory, but on experience.Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. Do not believe anything because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything because it is written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is condusive to the good and the benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

Unconditioned being-

If an ordinary man, when he is about to die, could only see the five elements of consciousness as void; the four physical elements as not constituting an 'I'; the real Mind as formless and neither coming nor going; his nature as something neither commencing at his birth nor perishing at his death, but as whole and motionless in its very depths; his Mind and environmental objects as one -- if he could really accomplish this, he would receive Enlightenment in a flash. He would no longer be entangled by the Triple World; he would be a World-Transcendor. He would be without even the faintest tendency towards rebirth. If he should behold the glorious sight of all the Buddhas coming to welcome him, surrounded by every kind of gorgeous manifestation, he would feel no desire to approach them. If he should behold all sorts of horrific forms surrounding him, he would experience no terror. He would just be himself, oblivious of conceptual thought and one with the Absolute. He would have attained the state of unconditioned being. This, then is the fundamental principle.
