... with these people protesting the war in Iraq. I don't necesarily support the war in its entirity, but I'm sick and tired of these "Bush is only there for the oil," "Its revenge for his Daddy," and, more than anything else, "Our troops deserve to die for fighting in Iraq" types. Honestly, this war has no actual effect on them, they are not military families, they have never been to war, yet they are self-proclaimed, "War-weary" Americans. "Support our troops, bring them home!" is the worst one. I've read dozens of letters sent from the soldiers in Iraq- they believe what they are fighting for, they are willing to lay down their lives for the freedom of a people who are not their own, in a land that is not theirs, for something that cannot be seen, heard or grasped in their hands. And they do not want to leave their work unfinished.

Americans are fighting and dying to accomplish every day what protests, peace vigils, and endless debates in the UN could never do in a lifetime. Is it right or wrong? Yes. The war is not about "I am right, you are wrong." The only certainty about it is that if we cut and run now, things will end up far worse than when we entered.

You are correct. Cutting and Running now is like condeming not only Iraq, but ourselves to years of crap. We can't leave and just LET the people there collapse. We started this, and America isn't a quitter.

Even if our troops didn't believe in what they are fighting, they are doing just that. Fighting. We need to support our troops by supporting them, not complaining. Even the families that DO have military background. We may be upset, but that's something to deal with after the war.

But maybe this war wasn't the best one to fight. And of course everyone is so mad at Bush. He's the president. And everyone knows that President means Scapegoat in Nordic. wink

You do not seem to understand that the longer we stay there the more they resent us, they are very proud people just like us and feel like we are taking over their country. Now bush is trying to have a civilian branch of the military that is actually a company of mercenary's called Blackwater. The Blackwater mercenarys do not have the rules that the ordinary military has and can do just about whatever they want. They are really into the "preemptive strike" theory of Bush's, so basically they shoot whoever is around, innocent or not, to protect the contractors that hire them for protection. No wonder two Blackwater employees were mutilated by and angry mob. I really hate to get into these political arguments but you really have the wrong idea in my opinion. If you want I can list off some other things that our president is responsible for.

I believe we're destroying and attempting to rebuild their sovereignity, which I don't agree with.

"Terrorism" is not confined solely within one country either.

The President meaning scapegoat was just a joke. XD

I hate Bush. Like, a whole lot and I agree that he's responsible for a whole lot of s**t.

I personally think we shouldn't have entered the war, because Iraq can't have a "forced" civil war. That and we shouldn't be deciding who's in power because it benefits us.

However, we're kinda stuck there now and we don't want to leave them in the economic situation they're in. Although, no matter what happens, I doubt we're gonna have a great relationship with Iraq after this.

I agree. We had every right to track down and punish the terrorist that instigated the original attack but we didn't have any right whatsoever to stay there and try to rebuild their country in our own image. Bush is trying to help but he's doing it the wrong way. He should have helped them get their society back on track and pulled out instead of rebuilding it like ours.

That's not even right.
Osama was in Afganhistan (sp?) the whole damn time.
We're in there for the oil and little else.

Oh, speaking of all of this.
I just learned very recently that we intended to go to Afghanistan to capture the Al Qaeda terrorists.

Meaning, I had never heard of it before. That just surprised me. >>
I'm not in tune with the news or anything but I'd think I'd at least heard of Al Qaeda before. But nope.

Well, that's not what I meant. Intended, as in, the whole post-9/11 thing was supposedly going to Afghanistan to capture the terrorist group. But I'd never heard anything about it; I thought everything was situated in Iraq because that's all I'd ever heard about.

That's because the news doesn't broadcast everything in it's true light.
Osama was always in Afghanistan.
Iraq may have had WMD, so we had to stop them. (Bush-s**t. We wanted oil, and guess what? No help for us there.)

(Sorry if I come off as rude. This topic makes me very... twitchy. xD)
