I just got my Wii today, finally. At some point, the wiimote that I got with the wii stops working. There is no cursor and none of the controller lights are on. If I press a button on the remote, it flashes for a second, and then the lights go off.

If you read the manual that comes with your wii, which I doubt you read as most people often do, it says that you need to open the panel on the wii and your controller and press the red buttons on the controller and the system so that they can be synced. Try that.

This may have been answered already a looooong time ago, so I'll just provide the best answer in detail. First off, if this happens don't panic. Otherwise you'd be me on my first try. What you need to do is press the sync button in the wiimote cover after turning the system on. Then you press the sync button on the wii. Here are the steps shown in proper order:

1.) Turn system on.
2.) Remove battery cover and press, but don't hold, sync button on wiimote.
3.) Open SD cover on wii and press sync button.

By the way, there is a little something called a manual. Remember and learn it well. smile

Try reconnecting the wires to the wii. I had the same problem.
