Ok so I go this idea from Rina_touin. I've decide we are going to have a helpful guide for con newbies (me) and things to know about Anime Boston. I would like you all to work together and post the ideas here in this thread. Please take this seriously since I know this will be helpful.
I already have an Announcement thread on the second Paragraph, please check it out. ~`Cyanide Jellybean`
Also I know some of you would like to have a meet up. I don't know if we all want to go to the gaia panel or want to have our own meet up but whatever both are fine. But please pick a time and location that would bet suiting to all. Please post your suggestions again here in this thread. So leave feed back do we want a meet up or not? Again take this seriously and no superly late times half of us are 12-15 and probably need to ok things with parents.

feh. im lazy so im just gonna copy and paste my post from the other thread. (and add another.)
- keep food/emergency and spending money sepperate! that way you make sure that you dont blow all your money in the dealers room and then have no money for food!
- Shop around in the dealers room! if you see something you like. and the price is not quite to your liking. look at other dealers with simmiler merchandise someone might have the same product. only cheaper!
- dont bring all your money the first day! spread it out. that way if you see something on another day, you'll still have money to get it with!
- usually the last day of the con is the best day to get great deals! there will be a limited selection of merch. but usually the dealer wants to get rid of it before the con 3nodding
- **thinks** ok i think im done now. i maybe be back armed with edits.

-pocky is NOT food you want to eat all day @_@ not sure if AB allows it. I heard they didn't last year.
-don't bring signs, they're not allowed either D:
- schedule yourself so you're not just winging everything and so you get a little bit of everything in
-if you're volunteering, hop around or go somewhere you'll like volunteering at. ex. I volunteer at panels.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help from a staff or volunteer (though if you see volunteer's with orange vests, some of them (like me) have no clue what they're doing.
-Keep a map with you so you don't get lost (and know which direction is which. I got lost a lot last year)
-When waiting in line, don't stand in front of entrances. You will be asked to move
-You can only have one thing signed when getting autographs.
I'll add more later.

- Get there as early as you can, if it was anything like last year, the line to get your badge will be TERRIBLE (If you can swing it try to get there on thursday, there's no evets however they are giving people their badges early)
- If you're taking the train ALWAYS buy two tokens for the subway and a round trip train ticket on your way there, that way if you over spend by accident you can still get home (but don't do what I did last year and almost spend your token thinking it's a coin gonk )
- Split your money into groups (if you're going for more than one day) and hide the money for the next day so you're not tempted to spend it. It's easier than you think to spend all your money for the weekend in one day in the dealers room
- If you want pocky, ask around in the dealers room. According to the rules they can't sell it to you in the dealers room itself, however if you go off the property you can buy all you want. (I did this last year and bought about 10 boxes in one go eek )
- As far as glomping/hugging goes: Don't do it to random people without asking first. Some people may find it flattering that you like their cosplay enough to glomp them, however there are others who find it annoying and will not hesitate to report you to security.
- As far as stalking goes: Well frankly you just shouldn't do it. If you like someone's cosplay, take a picture, get a hug if you can, but don't stalk. Like I said above some will find it flattering while others will report you. Don't take the risk.
- If you're cosplaying bring at least one pair of sneakers/comfy shoes just in case. You'll be walking more than you think and after a while your feet WILL hurt in platform boots/heels/etc.
- If you plan on doing some shopping in the dealers room bring a backpack and carry it with you all day. Many dealers will provide you with a plastic bag, however if you fill it to much it will rip. Trust me, I had two HUGE bags last year on saturday and the handles ripped on both of them. Trying to lug that on the train and then home just isn't fun.
- If you're hungry, i'd reccomend going to the food court in the mall instead of the little cafe thing in the hotel. It's much MUCH cheaper.
- If you want to go to a certain pannel, get there early. Many times the pannels will fill up quickly and if you get there 5 mins before it starts odds are you won't get in sad
- If you're cosplaying be sure to know a bit about your character. It's not a big deal if you don't, however it's pretty embarrasing if someone goes up to you and starts talking about the show with you having no clue what they're talking about.
- Also about cosplaying: If you cosplay it doesn't NEED to be anime. I saw a wonderful mario (and I was told Luigi was around but I missed him) and he was pretty popular. Also, Jesus was there, I got pictures eek
- There is a wallgreens down the street from the con. They have one use cameras, colored hair spray and other hair products, etc. Always good to know in case you forget something small at home 3nodding
- If someone asks to take your picture, go for it! It means they really like your cosplay, not that they're stalking you xp
- Be careful who you give your personal info to. I've made new friends at previous cons and it turned out ok, but you never know. I know this one is kind of obvious but it doesn't hurt to post it anyway.
That's all I can think of for now, If I remember any more i'll come back and edit my post 3nodding

Those are good tips Pop.
We should make a guide book. xD
- Stay in groups. Don't wonder off on your own because you can easily get lost.
-Don't be shy when it comes to talking to people. I was and I didn't have that fun a time as I would have if I had made friends. (Example: The Ed Girls invited me to join them. Wasn't completly my fault, I had to fill in my hours for volunteering)
-DOn't be afraid to ask questions at panels or talk to the guests after the panel.
-Go to costume repair if you have a rip in your costume or something.
-If someone takes your picture and you want to know where you can find it, ask them.

- Emergency money for food is great. It also helps the wallet live a bit more if you bring yourself a few munchies to tie yourself over. Last year, I think I ate a bagel, and a cereal bar. I honestly couldn't eat anything else. But, those things alone added up close to $10-$15. It may not seem much, but it will add up over time. Pop-tarts are your friend, remember that!
- Refrain from putting signs on the windows. A friend and I joined in last year, knowing well that it wasn't right, and had a blast communicating. Well, by the time the security guard came around, we were struggling to get them down every time he looked away. It was something out of a cheap, black/white movie...
- Do not loose you're cameras! Even if they are disposable, it sucks! My friend lost one of ours that had all the JRock cosplayers on it, and I had to buy her a new one for $15!
- Picture-whoring is great. Take lots and lots of pictures, but don't be obnoxious.
- Bringing a large group [8-11] is not always such a great idea. Especially when it comes down to passing out the keys. I'm unsure if you can request more, but as far as I know, you get two keys. And two keys only.

Kay, my turn! Umm, these are mostly for people going all weekend... gonk Please dont wear the same outfit if your staying for the whole con, it'll get wrinkled and start to smell. pirate And showers...showers would be nice. You dont want to be the person that others cant sit next to with out gagging. Seriously, it isnt fun. domokun Ah, I think the whole food money thing was covered. But it really is important. 4laugh If cosplaying, be prepared to be stopped to get your picture taken. There are plenty of raving Fan-girls (and Fan-boys) who will want your picture, I know that it might be easy to be mean to them if your in a bad mood. But, please, your cosplaying so others can see your work. They're gonna want to talk to you!

Most of the stuff is covered but remember, the train system is different this year. You don't buy tokens you get a card called Charlie Ticket. You then put money on the card at an ATM type machine. You then swipe the ticket through a machine basically and such.
Also, yes be friendly, but be careful, most anime fans are very nice people but there can be some odd ones about. I mean that's sort of a rule one has to follow in all aspects of life, but still.
Most cosplayers are very open to pictures and talking, though a few will decline. They have their reasons.
No duck duck goose games, signs, window parties, unauthorized glomping. All of this is taken incredibly seriously by AB staff, who are working very hard to protect everyone at the con from injury, arrest, harrasment. They do a great job and mean well. Everything they do is for a reason.
Drink plenty of fluids, it can get hot in the con center.
The food court has cheap food of all types and there are convenience stores in the mall and down the street.
There will be a baseball game all three days so be advised that the streets may sometimes be filled with thousands of people. Try to plan around this. Redsox.com has the schedule. If you want to avoid the crowds try not to be out on the street an hour before the game and three hours after it starts.
Everything else is pretty much covered. : )

Something I've found useful is to go on Thursday to pick up your badge (only people who have prereg though) Usually you get a bag full of info including a map and schedule. Take whatever time you can then to get your bearings on where everything is located at. That way you have an idea on where that panel or video you want to see is at when you come back on Friday.
Also REMEMBER to check out the Info Desk everyday in case of any schedule changes.

-Going on thursday is, in general, a VERY good idea(Though it doesn't make too much of a difference if the rest of your group didn't prereg. I ended up waiting for at least half an hour for my friends to register...) -budget your money. Have a certain amount of money you're going to spend of food, set out a certain amount for merch...(My boyfriend's having me slap him if he tries to impulse-buy anything, because he wants money left over) -If you're anything like me, remind yourself to buy things. you'll regret it later if you don't. (I brought 300 to AB last year and spent 30 of it outside of food.) -You will, more likely than not, not be getting enough sleep. doubly so if you're going to the raves. you want caffeine. bring coffee, Dew, energy drinks, tea, something. Falling asleep during cool stuff SUCKS. -When taking pictures, don't just snipe them. ask the person if they don't mind, unless you're at a photoshoot. If you're too shy to talk to them, at least make eye contact, and hold up your camera. -don't be too shy to go up and talk to random people. I don't even know the names of half the people I talked to there, but nobody's gonna tell you to piss off, If anything, they'll love you for it. (Last year, a friend pulled the braid of an Ed cosplayer. for some reason, I got hugs for that. I'm still not sure why.) -I know there's the costume repair station, but I know that I'm gonna be bringing needles and a couple spools of thread just in case my or one of my friend's costumes rips or needs fixed/altered. I know it's there, but it's quite likely that they'd be busy. ...I'll think of more later, and I think I'll get the link to my "Unwritten rules of conventions" thread up in here. http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24525849&>>

-Walk all the way around the dealers room BEFORE you buy anything. More likely than not, you're going to see something you really like but, OOPS; you already spent your money on that wig, or that manga, or that hat. [ I bought a wig and cat ears from Cosworx, then found a leather cloak I really wanted- but I ran out of money before I saw it. ] Take a good look at all the booths!
-People are usually really friendly. If you don't know a specific cosplay in the human chess or whatnot, ask whoever's around you. They'll probably know, and if not, may even help you find out who it is. [ I had someone ask me who Honey was on Sunday this year @.@ ]
-Don't be shy to ask questions! It'll leave you out of the loop and uneducated. Believe me when I say that people at Anime Boston are friendly. There are some Loonies, of course... I suppose being shy to ask someone who looks extrememly sketchy that isn't in cosplay is probably a good idea. "Hey, dad...?"
-Like pretty much everyone else said, MONEY. Bring food money, buying money, and hotel money [ if you're staying in a hotel ]. If you want to go home with a bunch of good stuff, bring a LOT to the dealers room. I suggest more than $1oo; actually, somewhere around $3oo-$4oo would be best [ which I should have done ._.;; ]. For food, it does get expensive because of the tax [ which by the way, in MA, the tax is 4.5% for EVERYTHING, I believe ] so bring enough for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had a yogurt for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch, and then maybe something a little more special for dinner each day. Try and keep it small, but don't starve yourself. sweatdrop It isn't a good idea. You need energy to walk around the Hynes all day!
-If you have friends that go, try to set up a meeting time. I found my friends sister, she pointed out where my friend was, and I never found her. T-T OR, if you find the friend of your friend or brother, or sister, or whatever, ask for specific details. "Where were they last?" or "If you see them, tell them I'm looking?" ect, ect.
-I think someone else noted this; SNEAKERS ARE YOUR FRIENDS. If your cosplay character has thick, clog boots, or stillettos, bring sneakers in your backpack/totebag/whatever you use to carry stuff around. You will want to change after all the walking, standing, and dancing. Walking around barefoot isn't a good idea. [ is it even allowed? ]
-The Hynes I think has air conditioning, but I'm not really sure... if you have a skimpily dressed cosplay, bring a jacket [ or pants! ] or you might freeze. Although, when it gets crowded, take it off. No freezing and no melting! Not fun!
-Shower. Every day. Wash your cosplay [ if you can ]. Every day. No one wants to smell you before they can see you. Besides, if you don't have a wig, greasy hair isn't an option. It's disgusting. Really. Don't try and think yourself out of showering. BATHE. USE SOAP.
-When you get your map [ or if you have one ] mark out the rooms you'll be looking for; entrance, escalators/stairs, bathrooms, main events hall; most are listed, but I suggest highlighting them. You don't want to miss an even because you were looking for the bathroom.

- If you are going with a group of people make sure you don't lose track of them. ex. if they want to skip and you don't want to don't let them leave without you i had a problem with this. just tell them no please don't i don't feel like it or just skip with them. because it is easy to get lost in the hynes, or you might crash into someone looking for your group like it did. make a meeting place for if someone gets lost that you just go to that place and hopefully your group will go there and find you
-never lose your badge! if you are unsure that the spot you put ur badge is a safe place for it it most likely isn't if you don't want people to see it throw it in a back pack, a bag, or if you can tuck it in your shirt.
-as many people said be careful with money!!!
-if you brought a camera or a video camera don't take everything the first day. because on the second and third day there are a lot of new people cosplaying and a lot of other panels so i suggest bringing more then one camera or film
- you probably know this but if you have to wake up early to get your complex cosplay on and you think you can just not go to bed and stay up all night and wait for ab DON'T i did that and i was very tired during ab make sure you get a big night sleep at least for the first day or the day your going i suggest to get a goodnight sleep everynight but a lot of people do the night gaming and events like the cherry blossom dance and the date scene

-About a week before the con get AS MUCH SLEEP AS POSSIBLE! There's a good chance you'll get close to no sleep that weekend (the last thing you want is to pass out is a hall or something)
-Pretty much everyone else said everything that needed to be said about money. But just to be sure..BE CAFEFUL WITH IT! If you're afraid you'll spend your food money or something then hide it in your shoe! (It usually works more me)
-If you buy someone sort of drink...like chocolate milk for example...then please don't put it in the same plastic bag that you have your AB shirt in. You'll most likely end up washing said shirt in the bathroom sink (Trust me on this)
-If your preforming in the Masquarade, don't put off practcing until five days before the con...(once again...from expreince), same goes with making your costume
-Bring snacks, and water/gatorade with you. That way if you don't get a chance to eat at home or in the food court you won't feel like your going to pass out
-If your in a group then make sure you have everyone's cell numbers, and make meet up place if you choose to slpit up for a while, or get separated
-If your bringing a camara make sure you either have a LOT of flim, or several memory cards (every if you don't take a lot of pictures it's better safe then sorry)
-Bring a decent size bag with you, so that you have room to put things you buy, even if it doesn't go with your cosplay. (yeah...doubt Seto Kaiba carrys around a purple shoulder bag, but that's what I'll end up doing anyway XD)
-Last but not least, please bath. And use lots of deoderant. Everyone will thank you
That's all I can think of...
