First of all, I'm posting this here and not in the GD because I didn't want to hear "OLD NEWS" and "ALREADY DONE." That's just rude. I don't have time to sit on the Internet all day and see every single thread.
There's a lot of buzz going around about Net Neutrality and I believe I lot of people don't know what it's about. Maybe not teenagers... but the older people who are not Internet savvy. But I'm pretty sure everyone here knows about it. If not, go to this site: Save the Internet.
I recently read here that MySpace is censoring certain links and videos. I am not a MySpace user... in fact I hate it. This adds to my argument to not use it. XD
So apparently if you post links from certain sites or you show a video from a certain video host MySpace will censor/filter it. MySpace has advertisements and if what you post conflicts with the advert, it's censored.
It upsets me a bit that it's getting to be this way on the Internet, but it makes business sense if it is just a link. If you post a video on your MySpace, are you really taking away from the advertisement? Most hosts don't make you go to their page to view the video, so the advertisement is still viewed. In fact, you have to see the advertisement to even view the video, because they're on the same page. x_x Yet they are censored anyway.
Because very small things like this are happening, it seems like the issue will get worse and worse. I realize that MySpace is privately owned and whatnot so it's perfectly legal that they do this. It just doesn't make sense to me.
What would you do if on Gaia you put a video in your multimedia and it was censored, because Gaia has an advertisement for another video host?
