Yin's stomach rose slowy and gently as she slept, her mind full of settling thoughts and dreams. She was curled up next to her rommate and mate, Vernados, in a bed of moss. Early morning light shone through the canopy of leaves that sheltered the peaceful glade, adding to the sweet silence.

Yin stirred sleepily for a moment, her eyes slowly opening. She felt strangely warm and fuzzy inside, but it felt good nevertheless. She slowly lifted her head and looked at Vernados, licking him on the cheek affectionately.
Yang hadn't bothered her last night. Even she didn't have the heart to ruin such a thing.
"Good morning." she mewed, grinning.

Yin yawned peacefully, nodding slightly. Her warm eyes were fixed on Vernados' face, lost in thought. To think, she used to be sure that she would never have a family. Now, she had a mate, and she wouldn't give him up for anything.
"I'll go with you." Yin said softly, nodding slowly.

"That sounds good." Yin said, standing up delicately.
When they both got to the berry patch, Yin sniffed around.
"Perfect," she said, "They're just about ready to be picked."
At that moment, two familiar shapes appeared, crouched on to the ground. It was the two bullies from before! Yin hadn't noticed them, and they hadn't noticed Vernados. They both slowly prowled toward them, claws unsheathed. One of them stepped on a twig, emitting a loud snapping noise.
Oops.

The bullies froze in their tracks, their hair standing on end. They defenitely didn't expect Vernados to still be with Yin. The bullies looked at each other with a look that said 'Can you take him?'. They both stood up, mischievious looks on their face. Yin cowered behind Vernados fearfully, trembling slightly.
"We're not about to back down again." one bully said.
"Look's like the pacifist's got a stalker." the other one taunted.
Yin's eyes were fixed on the ground as she came to realization, her eyes growing wide.
These guys weren't leaving without a fight.

Yin licked Vernados on the shoulder quickly in a 'Good luck' kind of way, and backed away a few yards where she was away from the general fighting.
The bullies were already having second thoughts, glancing nervously at the fissure. When the two rocks came flying at them, since one of them was also earth elemental, one thug managed to make the rock stop a few inches in front of him, while the other was launched into the tree. The one that was hit stumbled upward after landing on the ground, dazed. The Tocou who dodged lunged at Vernados with unsheathed claws, growling menacingly.

Vernados' claws met the Tocou's face, slashing a deep gash in his muzzle. He panted slightly, his claws still unsheathed. He glared at Vernados warily before shaking her head. Blood dripped out of the gash in the side of his head, but the bully didn't seem to notice. He seemed determined not to lose again.
The Tocou who was hit by the boulder suddenly melded into blob of water, phasing into the ground unnoticed. She moved invisibly under the ground until she was directly under Vernados. Then, she sent up a huge torrent of water that spanned 10 feet across, enveloping both Vernados and the other thug.
They were dangerously close to the edge of the cliff.
Yin bit back a shriek, watching with horrified eyes as the fight raged on.

The two Tocous froze immediately, staring over into the endless abyss at the end of the fissure. While one Tocou was leaning over, the platform shook violently. The bully flipped over the edge, hanging on with a single claw. The rock broke, and the Tocou dissappeared from sight. The other Tocou tried to help her, but ended up falling himself.
