Introduction A priestess rushed from the chapel to her mentors. "Sir, she's gone! I can't hear our goddess!" she exclaimed, and new by the older priests' expressions that they suffered from the same problem. "It's as though she's gone..." one said quietly.... A girl boasted to her friends about her magical talents. "Guess what, I can cast identify now!" she bragged, as it was more complicated than they could cast, and went through the gestures. Instead of finding out about the object they held, it started raining acid winthin a village miles away, killing all who dwelt there.... The man ran from the horde of monsters, and stopped at the edge of a cliff. His hands ran through the incantations to a teleport spell. He released it and a portal opened, which he stepped through... into the abyss and the hands of dozens of denizens of the lower planes....

Story The gods have disappeared. No one knows why, or how. They just suddenly weren't there. Clerics were the first to know, as they rely on spells from their patron god. Magic is unstable, you never know what will happen. You cast an invisibility spell on yourself and instead it works as a combustion spell. Mages are afraid to cast spells, though they still do. Clerics still have whatever spells they hadn't spent, though those work perfectly. Most had used almost all their spells before realizing they wouldn't come back. Any creature with innate magical abilities still have those, though the effort needed to use them is much more taxing. They aren't as strong as they used to be. For example, say someone had the ability to heal. Before, they could heal the most grievous of wounds. Now, the most they can do is heal a broken bone, or the equivalent of that.

Profiles Template: Username: Name: Age: Race: Weapons: Class: (ranger, thief, fighter, ect.) Deity: (god or goddess followed, if any) Abilities: (any and all, magic included.) Appearance: Personality: History: Accepted: Username: thymeast22 Name: Aki Age: 100, looks 18ish Race: Half Elf, half Drow. Weapons: Bow, arrows, two rapiers Class: Ranger Deity: Eilistraee Abilities: fight, some innate drow abilities (globe of darkness), infravision.(from drow). Had some spells from goddess, all used. Appearance: Aki, only without the horns/wings Personality: She's quiet and doesn't speak much, perfering to be by herself. She's not very comfortable around people and expects scorn. She's also not very accustomed to receiving kindness. History: She was the result of a drow raid on her mother's elven village. She was raised as an outcast because of her drow blood by the elves who found her. She left as soon as she could, to get away from the prejudice that followed from her heritage. Username:Xindaris Name: Ilrune Age: 80 (appears somewhat youthful; capable of living longer than most of her kind) Race: Werewolf Weapons: Claws, fist-fighting (unarmed) Class: Priestess of Selûne Deity: Selûne Abilities: Her werewolf form is her "home" form, rather than the human one, because of a long-standing dedication to the goddess she serves. She is also capable of shifting to human and wolf forms, but she rarely uses the former as she prefers to not wear clothing. She had actually recently restocked her spells before the disappearance, and so has most of them still ready. They are various healing and blessing spells, including a few de-toxing spells. Appearance:Since Ilrune doesn't use her other forms for the most part, I will simply describe her werewolf form. She has the likeness of a huge lupine form, with clear human parts enough to identify her as a werewolf. She is covered in brown fur, which is lighter on the area which would be under her running on four legs and on the underside of her long tail, and darker near the tips of her tail, ears, and muzzle. She is clearly enough both beastly and humanly feminine, mixed evenly, and extremely confident with the use of this form. She has piercing amber eyes and wears a clear expression of knowing more than she tells...usually. Personality:Extremely wise and intelligent, and very enigmatic. It seems to have hardly fazed her that the constant contact with her goddess was cut off... History:She was born and raised as a servant to the goddess of the moon, among a fairly large pack of werewolves. She was well-respected because she knows much and usually acted as a healer for them. When she (the goddess) disappeared, Ilrune left to find answers. Username: thymeast22 Name: Resa Age: unknown Race: Not exactly known. Can only take the forms of felines, rodents, snakes, foxes, and bats due to curse. Weapons: animal's natural weapons. Class: was cleric/thief, now thief and distrusts clerics. Deity: Followed Shar, but now follows Mask after incident. Abilities: shift between animal forms mentioned in Race, fight, control over shadows/darkness. Appearance: Depends on animal. (If I think about it, I'll try to post a picture.) Personality: cold and quiet, she's very different from what she had been before... She's intraverted and if she has a dislike of you it's evident. History: She was a priestess of Shar years ago, until she became too greedy. She tried to kill a priestess of Selune, but was foiled and cursed to only take the animal forms mentioned. None of Shar's preistesses could help, so she turned her back on Shar. She was met by Mask's avatar and changed back, but the curse was replaced until she did what he had instructed her to. Now, she's a thief and can only take her natural form if he'll allow her, which she can't now because he's dissapeared.Username:Xindaris Name:Esarn Age:25 Race:Werewolf Weapons:Claws, spells Class: Mage, surprisingly enough. Deity: Selune, though mostly because he never got to know a follower of any other. Abilities:Able to cast fairly high-level spells; shift form to werewolf or wolf; enhanced sense of smell and hearing in human form. Appearance: Appearance: In human form, he appears to be a somewhat thin-built man, wearing a long, open vest-robe but no shirt and somewhat baggy pants. He has slick, pitch-black, short-cut hair and yellow eyes, and a way of moving around that seems almost pompous, though not on purpose. His wolf form looks like this, with the same yellow eyes. His werewolf form has basically the same pattern of fur as his wolf form, but is larger and more humanoid yet at the same time built thinner and apparently agile. Personality:He acts a little bit like someone who is over-privileged, though not nearly as much as he used to. He can be a fairly reasonable and almost wise sort of person, when he sets his mind to it. However, he is also extremely stubborn and headstrong, and usually refuses to put up with when someone won't do what he wants. History:He is the brother of the present Alpha in the same pack as Ilrune. He tried to make her stay and eventually decided to follow her for whatever reason. Because of his older brother's position, he was actually able to go to a human town and learn magic under a well-renowned mage about ten years or so ago, and after seven years he had mastered much of it as well as become a much less spoiled person. He still uses his magic to date, regardless of its unreliability...Username: Ronan_Shade Name: Thorne Steelforge Age: 125 Race: dwarf/goblin/troll mix ((REAAAAAALLY awkward childhood)) Weapons: Massive Great Spear, and fists Class: Fighter Deity: money Abilities: Goblinkin healing abilities and massive regenerative qualities for troll blood. Abnormally fast and strong for one of such small size from goblin and troll heritage, Throne is also able to withstand extreme temperatures and most poisons. His dwarf blood gives him damage reduction from spells and weak spells have absolutely no effect. Fire is his main weakness as his skin is slightly more flammable then an average creature’s Appearance: Thorne is about 4’5, muscular, burly, and green. He was born looking like a dwarf with green skin and a wild tangled green beard to match. His eyes are yellow and narrow, goblin eyes…and his nose is slightly elongated to compliment his troll blood. His mouth is full of sharp teeth and the nails on both his feet and hands are abnormally long and sharpened. He wears a shirt of mythril and steel plated armor for his legs. His shoulders are adorned with steel shoulder pads and he wears a small black cape over his back, emblazoned with the crest of a skull atop a great spear. A fine silver chain fastens the cape across his neck that is protected by what looks like a myriad of other necklaces he keeps under his mythril. He wears steel gauntlets with the fingers taken off for his claws, though the knuckles are tipped with jagged spikes. His feet merely sport sandals lined in steel for durability. Atop his head of wiry green hair he wears a helmet made from a dragon skull, emblazoned with his crest, and lined in steel. Personality: Thorne has an immediate distrust of all things magic users. He hates mages for the way they can destroy years of honing ones body with a few gestures. Fearless in battle but somewhat loud, boisterous and violent…he doesn’t have many friends…but he likes it that way. He is closed, unwilling to open up to anyone. His bluster is a front to a deeper problem within his soul that he has not come to terms with. History: The day he was born, the dwarves cast him into the wilderness to die. Fortunatly, his birth mother did truly love him and secretly cared for her strange green son outside the community till she grew ill and died while little Thorne was merely ten years of age. At this time he started showing signs of battle prowess and strength beyond his small frame. He worked for the human villages down the mountain from the dwarven mines and made a good living as a laborer and occasional mercenary. He has known defeat only once…and that was to a pompous mage passing through the town. The young Thorne had been around 20 at the time and was incensed by the arrogance the frail man possessed and how he cruelly ordered the people around. Trying to attack proved futile and the mage easily vanquished the angry dwarf creature…laughing at him and ridiculing his form. The wizard then forbade the dwarf to work in that village again. Angry and alone, the hardened dwarf wandered the lands collecting many strange and wondrous magical items that he wears all over himself. The magical items help him combat stronger foes and mages if need be. Now at the time that the gods have vanished, the surly green dwarf has found an overflow of work and prosperous times. Though his urge to wander and fight has not yet left his wild eyes.Username: Ronan_Shade Name: Del’Assair ((known by many in the farther kingdoms as the Blink Assassin)) Age: unknown Race: Dessert elf Weapons: daggers, and two elven thinblades ((thinblades are essentially rapiers that are longer, thicker, with a cutlass hand guard that are as light as a short sword.)) Class: Rouge Deity: He follows the teachings of Kesh’Alar, ((essentially Horus from mythology but with some notable differences. It’s the god of the dessert elves. Abilities: Del’Assair is a master swordsman and a skilled assassin. He has mastered a dessert fighting style that blends martial arts, swordplay, and quick movement that fools his opponents and gives him the odd nickname he possesses. Del’Assair is able to move his body so fast that it appears he has teleported. He can do it for only quick bursts, but usually it is enough to charge and opponent and end up behind them angling a blade into their ribs. His only magic is a mask that makes him appear as a surface elf ((Dessert elves are of drow descent, having crawled up from the Darkness to live in the dessert so their skin is of such a dark brown it is almost black…their hair is also the stereotypical white of drow, though their eyes are not red but yellow.)) and a pendant carved from the skin of a displacer beast that has magical abilities. If anyone knows the displacer beast, you cannot hit it directly because what you see is an illusion. If a displacer beast was right in front of you, it would actually be to the left…just far enough away that if you struck where you THOUGHT it was…you would only hit empty air. Del’Assair can use this ability as he deems fit but hates relying on magical means to achieve his goals. Appearance: Del’Assair is almost 5’9 with piercing yellow eyes and dark skin bordering on blackness. He has long white hair tied off in a long ponytail that he keeps regularly groomed. He wears a loose red satin shirt and pants that more resemble a myriad of black belts wrapped around pants. His boots are the same as his pants. He wears a cape upon his back of a dark red color in which he keeps a number of daggers. He wears two fingerless black gloves on his hands for grip and a utility belt, a belt with pouches for various posions and doodads. He wears a wide brimmed hat upon his head with a great black feather, giving him an almost ludicrous appearance. Personality: Easy going and somewhat energetic, he’s all manners and mellifluous words. Even when he is to kill, he always is smiling and laughing as though greeting an old friend. An odd card to be sure, but a good friend and an interesting companion. History: Unknown. His birth, disbandment from his clan, and delvment into assassination and mercenary work is a mystery. All his former hirers have met unfortunate ends that could never be directly linked to Del’Assair. Now he goes under the guise of a merchant selling medicines or a bard weaving tales and playing a set of pipes he keeps tucked away somewhere.

Aki ran through the forest, easily avoiding roots, trees, and bushes. She glanced over her shoulder, she could still see the fire of torches burning brightly in the moonless night. She forced herself to go faster, grabbing the branch of a tree and swinging herself up into the branches. She continued on up there, not much slower than she had been on the ground as she fled the townspeople, to whom she had done nothing but exist.

Ilrune sniffed from within a few trees, and caught the stench of flame. Chasing...after...who? she thought, looking around for their "culprit". She found the person swinging through the trees, and decided to find out what they wanted with her somehow...
