What makes an action good or bad.
If someone does something bad how is it bad.
If a murder is committed we take it as bad. But to execute that person is good/right to cancel out the wrong/bad the murder has done. Two of the same acts were done though one is good/right and the other bad/wrong.
What is the underlining reasoning of being good/bad.

I have a 30 min drive to and from work, so sometimes I think about things like this.
I believe I have determined anything good would be the fundamental building up of more of a substance. And bad would be the deterioration of what is being affected.

In other words;
good, building,
bad, deteriating.

so in that end you could say that stopping the bad is good, even though its not building...

Just think about this one: If you knew that a specific child was going to grow up to cause the deaths of millions of people, would you be able to kill that child, even if it would label you as a malicious murderer?

Why bother to kill the child when you can raise it to become at better part of society.

That is a loaded question that brings in the debate of pro-choice and such.
Most children are shaped by thier parents and peers. If you knew you were going to give birth to another Hitler or terrorist would you abort or would you give birth to the child in hopes of shaping him/her into a different person? I believe it is up to the parent/parents to watch a child and if a deviant behavior is noticed, then get that child some help.

Parents are the most influential characters in a persons life. If they aren't there to raise the child to better others then society may break down. Now if the parents weren't raised to better others then the child may suffer the same fate. That's why non parental influences are important.

there are still exceptions to the rules though. those that slip through the cracks and cause great damage to society. I do agree that the way a child is raised is a major deciding factor.

The problem between determining right from wrong is the the way society labels these acts. These morals which they assume to be universal.

Are you a bad person if you think what your doing is right?

The true measure of your morality is how often you commit acts you consider in your own mind to be wrong.

Perhaps to delve further into the problem what about the grey area? Uncertainty of whether or not you consider the act your commiting to be wrong, thats the worst of all. Perhaps the best way to consider your actions would be think of them on a global scale, to think beyond yourself.

Your right that we should look to a larger scale that the action would take. Though many convince themselves that there was not enough time. True in some cases there's not. But an act repeated can become easier to repeat over time.
