Ok, so you hated my rants. Well...at least most of you. But whatever. After a pointless hiatus I figured that instead of randomly posting things you don't want to hear about, I'm only going to organizize a weekly event dedicated to all things Wii and DS, and what I (highly personally) believe. For that I present:

KINNIER'S KORNER

First of all, never mind the avatar. Just thought it would be cute. Next time you see me post an update, it will be quoted to indicate it's me, not Ayuki. Anyway Kinnier is my last name. It's also just cool to use for a title.

So on to the first update: 3/16!

What's awesome:

April, despite the showers of course. This up-and-coming month will see 3 games, and at least 2 will turn the tides on fun.

DS - Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales

Briefly in a few statements: Chocobo Tales is sure to appeal to the hardcore and the family friendly at the same time. You control Chocobo and fight monsters, of course, but more Pokemon-style with cards. You can even battle online if you like. But the minigames are the main-seller here. Grab up to 4 friends for some intense stylus usage such as bouncing cactuars and music. Microgames aplenty too. (Sheesh, actually that's too many statements, but I'm still hoping you have fun with this one.)

DS - Pokemon Diamond and Pearl

Yes, it's the same as previous Pokemons, but much more feature filled. Again, this is online, but unlike CT you can talk! Wow! Moving on: much more monsters to catch and train, 3D graphics, and touch control (in menus, yet still much better to organize monsters and items).

Wii - Super Paper Mario

Why? It's old-school Mario side-scrolling, but actually, it'll last you longer than your average Mario platformer. 40 hours may not seem long compared to FFXII or Zelda, but at least when you have lots of stuff to do instead of randomly fighting (I kid), you can never grow tired.

This was made on a whim and at least for this week there will be more soon! smile

Update 3/29: So I lied. It will be updated sometime in early April, but not the 1st. You know the reason. wink

Update 4/8

Ok, so I lied again! Nuuuu!!!¡¡¡ O_O; *usual anime tantrum*

But I will keep admitting lies until I post regularly, as self-inflictment of punishment.

While I'm still here though, I will bring updated synopses of the games mentioned above (D&P excepted: it's not out till late April)

Chocobo Tales: Another solid DS game from Squenix, but unless you haven't already filled up on party games before (and there's lots on DS), it's best that you leave room for when you need it. Online is there but limited to battles only, as minigames are ad-hoc.

Prevailance rating: 7/10

Super Paper Mario: Awesome enough to warrant a buy from previews alone. The only matter is it will only last you 20 to 40 hours, depending on whether you are straightforward or a completionist. If you are willing to accept the game for awesomeness alone, get it, but buying should come out of saving lots of change, not dollar bills or credit cards.

Prevailance Rating: 8/10

A Shot In The Dark: A miniature editorial session.

So you want a game. Which one? A timeless classic, or hot shiny brand new? Where do you go to get it? Online? Retail? Perhaps give it a shot first by renting?

Truth is, you don't have the right answer...and never will.

An editorial on wii.advancedmn.com offered and interesting point: that the future of purchasing a game is not quality or quantity; it's value. No offense, but local retail cannot live up to the now-common standard of being picky. At an electronic store or section of a store, what's there is there. Online, meanwhile, you have unlimited options on sites such as Gamefly or gameznfilmz. So what's the deal with retail offering less games with more convenience, and online still requiring credit or debit?

Again, we don't know.

So then, what's the point of all this wordiness? Why bring up unresolvable issues and try to resolve them? Because you can't, and therefore it needs to be discussed.

Let's start with the title...

The reason I call this mini-edit A Shot In The Dark? Not clear, but simple when I clarify without having to quote the encyclopedia: You can't shoot anything moving unless you see it right? So why shoot a rabbit or deer when it's dark out? (I'm no redneck, nearly everyone knows that) You must, by absolutely all means, prepare yourself. Night vision, flashlights, anything. You have to see what it is you must shoot at before shooting it.

If that can clarify for hunting, what about buying games? More on the following day...
