Video games. What can be said about them that hasn't already been repeated en mass on various forums, blogs, magazines, and fear mongering yellow journalist segments on prime time news?

They allow us an escape from reality to a better place, one of psychodelic dreamscapes filled with blocks and turtles, or of half-baked government conspiracies that revolve around giant tanks, ninjas and hot dudes, or of prissy pop-divas who fight the forces of darkness via fashion and weak-willed relationship pursuit (though innovative menu technology)....

...wait, where was I? Oh yeah, video games, while garnering social pitfalls (angry close-minded parents and ignorant teens), are way sweet. This is where we go to wallow in our fandoms like a pig in slop.

I miss when arcades were popular. I'm lucky, I live in California and we have more arcades than any other state in the union but still, they're not as popular as they used to be. When I was little I'd go to an arcade and watch people play street fighter two for hours and it was fun. I couldn't play very well and still can't but it was still fun for me as a kid.
