There are many Hiei fans who are under the impression that Hiei is only 4' 10". They assume because the dub says so, it's true.
I've always denied that he was that short. "He looks taller than 4' 10" when compared to the other characters." I say.
Apparently, that isn't very convincing, but now I've discovered something that might help to clear up Hiei's height.
I was exploring the Japanese Wikipedia site recently and I looked at the article on Hiei.
According to the article, Hiei is 155cm (About 5 feet 1 inch). I think that height sounds more correct than 4' 10".
Also, I researched more Japanese sites to see what they say about his height. A majority of sites place Hiei at around 153-155cm, (About 5' - 5' 1") but there are a few sites that say about 150cm. Which brings us back to about 4' 10-11".

So, I wanted your thoughts on his height. As I said before, when compared to everyone else, I can't see him being 4' 10".
Especially since I've researched Kurama also. Apparently, he's between 172-175cm (About 5' 7" - 5' 9") as the majority of fans predict.
Hiei is usually just at Kurama's shoulder. (And about 1 - 1 1/2 above Yuusuke's. Yuusuke is assumed to be 166cm which is about 5' 5".)
So, I used a measuring tape and compared my height (5' 2") to Kurama and Yuusuke's assumed heights. By guessing where their shoulders should be, I've estimated Hiei to be about 5' maybe 5' 1"

So what are your thoughts on the matter?

Yeah. ^^;; I'm just trying to get it around that just because the dub said Hiei was 4' 10" didn't mean it was true. There are plenty of dub anime that provide wrong information and I've read about many mess-ups in YYH. (Not that the dub isn't good anyway.)

Anyway, on the subject of the websites, I recall them saying with or without the hair, but I assume they're talking about without the hair.
But, as I said in the first post, many screenshots show Hiei as being just at Kurama's shoulder (Excluding the hair.) so I figure that should be taken into consideration.

I tried looking for screenshots, but most of the group pictures I found were promos, except for the last two. However, these may be more accurate, since I would think the show would pick the lead animators, who are usually the best and know just how the characters should be drawn, to create them.
Anyway, in these pictures, Hiei is way below Kurama's shoulders, I can't even remember seeing him stand at that height. Judging by these, Hiei comes to around his chest and almost to Yusuke's shoulders.

By the way, I've read that Yusuke was around 5'8'', Kurama was 5'11", and Kuwabara was 6'4", or was that just another mistake made by the dub?

Speaking of the mysteries of Hiei, how exactly does everyone figure he's 16 or whatever they say?

I can see him being under 100, because of the koorime thing... but as far as I know, there's never been exact ages.

Hm. That may be true. I don't really think about age when I watch the show, even though I know how old some of them are.

That's why I never got it. He seems too wise and experienced to be that young. But that's true, we'll probably never know for sure.

i think he's around 4 10 or 4 11...well, that wat that one person said...i think it was the announcer....

I know that Koto said so, but, if you'll read the first post, I all ready talked about that. As I said, it was the dub that said it. Therefore, it could be just something they threw in. (The dub has some misinformation in it and I think that the comment on Hiei's height is one of them. I mean, come on! Do you think Hiei's gonna let some person walk up to him with a ruler and check his height?) If you read the manga, there was nothing about Hiei's height mentioned during the Dark Tournament! And I'm working on getting the raw version of that episode to see what the Japanese version says.

Well, really all I'm trying to prove is that Hiei is taller than 4' 10". I get tired of hearing people say he's that height just because the dub says so. I believe that he's taller and I just wanted to spread my theory.
