Bond Information
Obambo - Not much information can be found regarding this West African Deity, and most sources disagree on what it is. Some say deity, some devil or demon, others ghost or spirit. Spirit perhaps is most accurate, as Obambo is said to inhabit people of an insane disposition. More accurately, is that the person tends to become insane because of the spirit.

If a dead person isn't buried properly with the correct rights, its spirit will inhabit the body of a newborn child and cause a lifetime of trouble. Usually this includes insanity, weird behavior, anti-social tendencies, and in the extreme cases, dribbling and jerking. Whether Obambo inhabits the 'insane' child afterwards, or if the displaced spirit becomes Obambo is unknown, but there is a connection. In Maji's case it seems to be more than just Obambo inhabiting him, but a bond instead, as he seems much more stable than most cases. Perhaps that may change with time.

It is said that Obambo is generally repulsed by the sound of bees in flight. But who knows how this will affect the bonded Maji?

History

Majinuni was displaced from his village at a very young age. His parents believed he'd been inhabited by the devil Obambo, and although they tried to raise him as best they could, it was obvious the boy was not acting normally. The rest of the village demanded they remove him, by whatever means necessary to be rid of the evil spirit. Still believing he could become more normal as he grew up, he was given away to an orphanage at the age of three.

Maji's continuing signs of insanity and antisocial behavior, even at that tender age, caused a multitude of transfers from orphanage to orphanage for the next two years. Nobody wanted the weird and troublesome boy, until one day he was eventually found by an air pirate named Sinbari who was visiting the area. No one's quite sure why the pirate bothered adopting the disturbed child (Maji included), but Maji was more intrigued than scared, even at the age of five, and looked forward to what would surely be some adventure away from the boring and rather poor orphanage life.

While he didn't get as much adventure as he wished, as Sin wouldn't allow him in many dangerous situations, his life nonetheless became more stable as he made another bond of sorts, that with the pirate. Although those associated with Sin constantly commented on or complained about the 'crazy mean kid', the pirate either didn't care, or enjoyed the fact the boy discomforted everyone.

During Sin's travels (at least, the safer ones), Maji was introduced to the more advanced parts of the world away from his home village, making the next five years an improvement over the first. Maji immediately took to modern conveniences, dress and mannerisms, and has tried his best to forget his sordid past, even adopting a holier-than-thou attitude towards what he deemed 'backwards civilizations', including his former village.

Eventually, Maji found out about alterations. Immediately, he knew exactly what he wanted. Even though he shunned his former life, there was one animal he'd always felt akin to as he grew up: the hyena. The laughing oportunistic hunters of the wilds always mesmerized him. Not only were they more intelligent than people gave them credit for, but some even believed them to be tools of demons, and that was rather appropriate in his book.

He boldly put forward his idea and reasons behind wanting it to Sin, and was mildly surprised when the pirate grinned, and agreed to his request without any arguments. He was all for whatever made the kid happy, and like Maji, he found it highly appropriate. Needless to say, the pirate had numerous connections, and at the age of eight, Maji got his wish.

During the next few years, although he seemed to have stabilzed some since being adopted and getting his alteration, almost maturing beyond his age, Sin knew the boy was growing into it, so to speak; instead of being outright anti-social and wild all the time, the Maji was becoming more sly and cunning, yet still prone to random ferocious outbursts at people he did not like or know. It was almost as if there was a separate personality at times, a Maji the pirate didn't know. The limited schooling he was able to give the boy (he would not listen to anyone else) was obviously not enough to calm him, and when Maji reached the age of ten, Sin wrote a letter to a certain out of the way place he happened to have heard about...
