Feel free to discuss the story's plot and any links to real life you find interesting. This thread is not for talking about the characters, it is dedicated to the plot, setting, and timeframe of the series. Feel free to talk about your ideas on the end of the series as well.

You know, I'm trying to figure out what years the book is set in, since the Gaudi Cathedral in the fifth book doesn't have a ceiling yet, as far as I know. Clever of Colfer to use historical landmarks; adds an element of realism to such a fantasy-based story.

Whenever China is mentioned...I feel myself swelling with pride because I took a History of Japan and China class and actually know who the places were named after....

Shall I be Fortune's Fool?

Whenever I hear about anything...
I get confused & go look it up.
;xD
But, I get smarter then, right?
Eheh...

Actually it does have a ceiling the only part that doesn't is the courtyard in the center.

Oh, really? My bad... sweatdrop

Has anyone besides me noticed the huge plothole in the third book? Okay, so the People are about to wipe Artemis's memory, so he leaves clues in the form of a laser-disk medallion and wearing mirrored lenses so he doesn't tell them under the mesmer, right? But Foaly said that he wanted to "keep a copy to see how he ticks." And they mentioned somewhere that the memories could be "read like a book." So why didn't the People see the fact that he had tricked them in his memories?

Than this of Juliet and her Romeo."

Ya know, there's another little plot hole that I saw... not too big, but it's still there.
You know how when you're knocked unconscious or whatever in a time-stop, you're out of it then? You escape it? Well, Buter & Holly were knocked unconscious while in it & did not escape it, what happened there?

Fortune's

Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?

I did a few days after I posted that. I read it over again... for what? The 123534i5353o059th time?

*Spoiler*

Even though Opal escaped at the end of TP...don't they already know that she'll lose? I mean...Colfer narrates from Opal's point of view more than once throughout the series, and never once does she remember meeting Arty earlier. So they must have gotten her mind-wiped.

Speaking of mind wipes how did little Arty remember ANYTHING at the end of Time Paradox. No. 1 said he wiped the boy's memories and I can't image the all powerful warlock missing memories but Arty clearly remembers enough to not brush off the odd feelings as a dream. I call that just being sloppy (both to LEP and EC).
