Everyone even slightly political can see how bush's presidency has been dying due to severe cases of: Iraq war, abramoff scandal, failure to enact his public policy agenda, allegations of making fun of the religious right, and loss of congress. Now dealing the final blow is three final scandals in a single week.
1. Libby Scouter has been convicted on fraud and perjury for lying about leaking the identity of a CIA agent, which in the court of public opinion also implicates the VP, the President and his top aide/secret lover Mr. Rove
2. The veteran hospitals have been shown to have deplorable conditions including rats, insufficient medical treatment, and mildew.
3. Allegations that he purposefully fired US attornies for political gain have been made before congress.

His approval ratings were at 30 percent before all this came up... its bound to only fall further. This directly involves the pro-life movement in three ways.
1. The republican party is/will be even further completely destroyed for at least the 2008 election cycle probably longer.
2. The next presidential race starts off strongly favoring democrats.
3. Most republican canidates will likely be moderates who will likely cause a third party run.
Basically not only have we now completely destroyed any chance of Roe being overturned or any pro-life legislation being put through, we will also have a federal judiciary stacked with liberal minded judges who will through out most pro-life state legislation.

For those that don't know some of the issues I mentioned.
1. The abramoff scandal involved republican members of congress and the white house allegedly taking bribes. Already 9 people have been convicted including one republican congressman.
2. A top official in the White House administration, who dealt with the religious sector of the public, has written a book talking of how bush has allegedly made fun of religious people calling them "nuts".

I wonder if those coming into power will try to run gag campaighns against pro-life movements, try to stop the March for Life, and try to make talk against abortion a word against women's rights, and effectivly, hate speech.

Iknow I know. A bit way out there, but there are quite few who would love to see it all happen

yes there are democrats for life, but we are a very small section of the party. We are gaining ground, but the vast majority of democratic presidential candidates, as well as democratic leadership(which has strong control of what happens in congress) are pro-choice. Not to say we aren't making ground, but considering the way things are going it might be another full decade before we could seriously consider coming into political strength again.

Personally, I'm voting for Obama. I donated to his campaign and I'm asking my friends to vote too. I love Obama. He gives me hope for America. Far better than that crazy b***h Hillary Clinton. Frankly even though I believe he's pro-choice he's a religious man willing to give the rest of us equal treatment and I love that. I trust that his great moral sensibility will lead us onward to good things.

Well Hell, only 10:57 here but I admit I'm wearing out of drunkenness and don't quite trust myself to make a fair call right now. I'll check it out when I'm sober and re-evaluate my position. I love Obama but I'm willing to recall my position based on other views of his.

there are laws on speech designed only to hurt, it' s called like, fighting words, or something...that or there's no protection against it if someone gets beat up for saying it. i think that's it.

but yeah, again, our goal is more than a political struggle, it is about saving lives. just like how slavery was much favored- truth still shone through, and justice prevailed.

Playing the devils advocate here, but first off, I despise slavery in any form of another human using another human without consent or total reason.

Anyway, but the south did have a reason to keep the slaves, I mean it was a highly agricultural economic system and they needed the cheap (no moneh!) labor to grow their crops and work the fields, was it right, no, but I mean they needed to make a living somehow.
