I have voluneteered at a therapeutic riding center, it was great - I got so focused on the kids. The horses were awesome, of all height, age, breed, colour and personality. I groomed, lead, side walked and had to do barn chores and saddle up.

I plan to go back for their summer session and help out again, but its hard while in school, too much homework. The exercises they do for the different kids, its awesome and the kids are so happy being around the horses. I've seem some big improvement in kids with disabilities who ride - there's a kid I know, and when he started with the horses, I've seen a big improvement in him, more open, working through things and can walk now.

Maybe I can get into help out with a spring session... -wounders and looks for the phone number-

I also do grooming and tacking up. 3nodding
And sometimes the stable owner's not around to instruct the kids, so I do that too. xd

My story with therapeutic riding...

Before I started therapeutic riding I had extreme anxiety, little to no self confidence, was always stressed, etc. Now I have tons of confidence in myself especially when it comes to riding and it's even affecting things outside of my riding because I sit there and think hey if I could try something new on a horse and do it I can try something in real life and do it. Everytime i go out there to vollunteer or to ride when i'm tacking and untacking I feel so relaxed and calm and I forget about everything in life. When I'm riding my horse it's all about me, my horse, and my instructor so everything else is gone from my head. All my health issues, everything. Even when I'm not riding and I become stressed or whatever I just think of me riding my horse, or brushing it, etc. and I feel much more calm and relaxed. The two instructors I've had the most have told me how much it's improved me over the past three years and how they're very impressed with me and such

I've helped in the barn grooming and tacking/untacking sometimes as well. They just usually neeed me in the arena more. Plus sometimes when I'm sidewalkign the instructors do this thing where the instructor, elader and sidewalker(s) pick different stretches to do and of course I know tons from my own riding so I always pick the ones I know will challenge the kids and help them improve

I've always been really shy, and riding din't change that.
But I made best friends with a little 12-or-so-hand pony with less confidence than me, and we helped eachother a lot. 3nodding
She was a rescue pony, from a 6ft+ tall amish guy who drugged her and rode her in an oversized western saddle for long hours daily.
She's still scared of most people, particularly men. She's extremely difficult to ride from what I understand...but I still like her. 3nodding
