These are the races that inhabit Joura. You may choose from these race for your character, and only these races will be accepted. You may try and present your case for a new race to Crytuf, but it is doubtful that there will be any new submissions. All information written down below is a simple outline for the races and are not set in stone as all things are different. While you do not have to follow these outlines to a 'T' it is recommended that you follow it someone. Anyone with a character way out of its bounds will be asked to revise their characters. Below some are some character points that may help you in writing your characters.

*THERE ARE NO HALF BREEDS ALLOWED IN THIS GUILD. ALL HALF BREEDS WILL BE DELETED AND THE PLAYER WILL BE ASKED TO MAKE ANOTHER CHARACTER.

Lycanthropes

Werebear

User Image

The Werebear is the largest Lycanthrope of all the species of lycan. Strongly built and well muscled the Werebear isn’t really a vicious creature, despite the large claws that tips its fingers and toes. A Werebear in human form tends to be stout, well-muscled and occasionally hairy depending on severity of the Lycanthropy. These traits can come after someone contracts Lycanthropy, usually changing the person to match the ursine form after a while. A Werebear fights for the good, usually protecting a home forest or traveling out to slay evil. A Werebear is a solitary creature when in ursine form, keeping to themselves when changed. Werebears in human form seem to favor the large battle-axe. The Werebear has a forced change on the nights of the perfect Waxing Gibbous.
How Werebear Lycanthropy is contracted: Bite

Wereboar

User Image

A Wereboar is a stocky powerful creature with short stiff fur, some of it a little longer at the neck scruff and tail tip than the rest of the body. Aside from the hoof like claws the Wereboar also sports long tusks from the lower jaw. A Wereboar in human form is almost similar to the Werebears; stocky, muscular but they are of average height. These creatures are indifferent to sides on a battle. They will go where ever they can to get a fight, be it on the side of good or the side of evil. The Wereboar has an overly sensitive sense of smell, much better than any of the other breeds of Lycanthropes. They also have a lowered sense of sight, but that’s all that is lowered in Wereboar form. The human form tends to favor the broadsword as a weapon. Wereboars have a forced change on the nights of the First Quarter.
How Wereboar Lycanthropy is contracted: Goring by tusk

Werecat

User Image

A-kin to the werewolf of legend, these are people who look normal on a day-to-day basis, but, depending on the control a werecat has, will change into his or her cat form on the new moon, or by will of the person. A werecat is an extremely fast creature when changed, taking on all the characteristics of a cat, but multiplying its abilities ten fold to suit the larger nature. A werecat is a very vicious creature when turned into its Were form. This nature seems to only come with the Werecat form, leaving the original being its own personality, though, on occasion, when people are aware of there condition it does tend to rub off slightly. A werecats human appearance tends to take on a more lithe, muscular, and agile look, despite what it’s was originally, though it does take some time.
How Werecat Lycanthropy is contracts: Bite or scratch

Weregazelle

User Image

A rare form of Lycanthrope, this creature is a timid and more easily frightened than the other races of Lycan. Very thin and lithe, the Weregazelle is a tall creature, almost matching the Werebear for height when not counting the horns. The Weregazelle has hoof like fingertips, but are not really considered claws. With short tawny fur they stick out more than the other Lycans. In human form a Weregazelle is tall and lanky with a kind of jumpy personality. The Weregazelle has always been on the side of good, and are usually given the curse of Lycanthropy as a gift from another Weregazelle and not given from an act of violence. The Weregazelle's human form prefers to use the longbow or spear as a weapon, but they have been seen using magic as well. The Weregazelle has a forced change on the nights of the perfect Waxing Crescent.
How Weregazelle Lycanthropy is contracted: Gore from the horns.

Wererat

User Image

The smallest of the Lycan races, the Wererat is not much known for fighting, though this isn’t put in a peaceful manner. While they do not like to outright fight, they are excellent thieves and spies. Small and slender in stature, the Wererat has a long hairless tail, which it uses like a whip in battle along with teeth and claws. The fur of a wererat is coarse and rarely soft. They are very dexterous with their thin hands, adding to the thief ability more. A wererat in human for is a thin, wiry person of short stature. They are a bit paranoid, not rusting a lot of people and being very jumpy. The human form tends to favor the Rapier as its weapon of choice. The wererat has a forced change on the night of the perfect Waning Crescent.
How Wererat Lycanthropy is contracted: Bite.

Werewolf

User Image

The most common of the Lycanthropes, it is believed that they were the first to emerge as Lycanthropes and are the only race referred to as Werewolf and Lycan. The Werewolf is smaller than the Werebear, but taller that the Weregazelle, giving it an intimidating height. With thick fur ranging in color the werewolf has a distinct muzzle which house sharp teeth, its first weapon. A Werewolf in human form has almost no traits that would give it away as a werewolf. They do however seem to have heightened senses above the normal range of their race. Being the first children of the moon they are the unofficial leaders of all the Lycan races, meaning they don’t often take sides in battle unless they see it as beneficial to them or the race. Most Werewolves live in packs or groups of the same people, often starting their own village to harbor Lycans. The humanoid werewolf doesn’t seem to have in preference for weapons and is skilled in everything. The Werewolf has a forced change on the Full Moon.
How Werewolf Lycanthropy is contracted: Bite.

*All Lycanthropes have a neutral alignment. Though it is suggested in some discriptions what they often times prefer it is completely the players choice

Mermaid/Merman

User Image

This creature has the upper torso, head, and arms of a beautiful human, but instead of legs they have a long, scaled tail of a great fish or other finned aquatic animal. By nature they are playful beings, always seen playing around great ships to taunt the sailors. They are however very weary of surface dwellers, though they will not strike out as they are not naturally hostile. They enjoy to sun themselves out on the rocks on a fair day, disappearing under the water if they hear a land dweller coming close before popping back up to get more sun. Usually decorated with seashells and coral, they have a knack for making these things into beautiful adornments.

*Since Mermaids are strictly underwater race, they can only reside in Rippledew or anywhere under the ocean. It is recommended that all mermaids also have a Undine character but not manditory.

Gargoyle

User Image

Gargoyles are fearsome fighters when it comes to battle, joining the fray without hesitation and usually coming out on top. Despite this, they are usually a kind gentle race that takes pride in protecting something or someone. The gargoyle has a tough hide, making it hard to cut with simple weapons. They also have large wings, at least the size of their body if not a little bigger or a little smaller, but not by much. Regarding skin color, they can come in any dark hue, and some lighter colors, but not many (Check with Crytuf with questions on color). Depending on the type of Gargoyle will depend completely on wither or not the Gargoyle has a head of hair or fur of any kind besides their hide. Gargoyles like to live in closely nit Wings, or groups, of their own kind, usually coming together to protect a common thing or place. During the day Gargoyles can assume a hibernation type sleep. This sleep can heal them of all wounds they have received up until that point. If wounded in this sleep they have to wait for the wound to heal naturally. This sleep can be activated whenever the Gargoyle feels they need a good rest or need to heal. The Gargoyles favored weapon is a mace or morning star.

Undine

User Image

A kin to the merfolk, they are also underwater creatures, though they have to ability to walk on land for a short amount of time. They are somewhat short, with a bluish green skin tone that comes from living underwater for so long. They don’t have gills or semi gills like the merfolk, so they do need to surface for air every couple of hours. Great swimmers they tend to like to race other creatures to keep up their skills in the water. When on land they move a bit slower, not used to having to support their own weight on land. Most Undine have blue or green eyes, it is very rare to see a brown eyed Undine and once in a hundred years do you see a black eyed Undine. The Undine often works as mediators between land dwelling creatures and the merfolk, being able to go to both places without hindrance.

Succubus

User Image

Often called a demon, the Succubus is renown for their extreme beauty and sexual nature. There are never any male Succubi, but there are a few Incubuses, which are the same basic race. They tend to be dressed in very revealing clothing, anything to show off their fit, beautiful body. Almost no man can resist the call of these creatures and if they do it’s by some charm of protection. With flawless skin and usually dark hair they tempt for a living, getting others, usually men, to do their bidding for them instead of fighting for themselves. But when drawn into a battle they are hard to beat, wielding any weapon of their choosing with deadly accuracy and demon like strength. Succubi usually have some demonic mark, horns, a forked tail, or bat like wings. On a rare occasion they have a combo of two or very rarely they have all three. Even these features do not seem to take away from the beauty of the Succubi.

*All Succubus are female, there are no "male Succubus". There are however Incubus which may be played under consent of Crytuf. Which means PM her first if you want to play an Incubus.

Olewas

User Image

Winged people that seemed to represent an offspring of dragon kin, they have wings and a set of horns. Scantily clad most the time, don’t let that fool you; they are wonderful warriors with deadly force that shows in combat. They are also a very mischevious people, fond of causing trouble just to see what others will do. These half breeds love silver, and are often found dressed in it even if its just the color. Sweet talkers they try and get through a conversation without fighting, but that is hard to do because they are short tempered and easy to anger. Their preferred weapon is a simple broadsword, but they have been seen with other weapons probably from previous battles won.

*These are considered the only 'half-breeds' allowed in Joura. No other half-breeds are allowed.

Naga

User Image

The Naga is a half snake race of creature, having the upper torso of a human and the lower body of a snake. Nagas are a very regal race, preferring a book to battle. Highly intelligent they are very skilled in magical abilities, often taking up teaching for a fee or for a living. On occasion a male Naga might go out adventuring, but female Nagas usually do such things. The Naga likes gold in one sense or another, either choosing to wear it as a form or jewelry or their scales taking on that color from birth or spell. A Naga favors spell attacks to using a weapon of any sort, and because a naga rarely leaves its place of dwelling, they can arrange the place to suit their skills and ability making an intruder crippled in their lair. More free roam Nagas like to keep to themselves and the shadows, only talking to people if need be. But a Naga always has a regal air around them, giving off the appearance of a royal person.

Kert

User Image

A small humanoid creature, just smaller than a human by measurements, they are a shy and timid race. Dog like in appearance, they have a long furry tail and long floppy ears, usually rounded. A single horn grows from the males head, curved forward slightly in front of the face as a form of protection, and as a mating call of sorts. Very well known for their cloth work, everything they wear tends to have elaborate embroidering in it, giving off a forest like appearance. The females have no horn, but they do grow longer hair from the head, and they like to braid it and place jewels in it to decorate themselves. Not known for their fighting ability, they would rather run away than stay and fight. Quick on their feet, it’s hard to catch a Kert when it’s fleeing.

Fairy

User Image

A small winged creature, about a foot high with odd skin tones depending on the fairy. They mostly have see through wings in a double set or more, giving them a beautiful appearance when they fly. Most fairies like to defend themselves and their homes, not really wandering out to fight for no real reason. On occasion they will wander away and fight for a cause they believe in completely or for a person whom they feel has earned their respect. Self-centered they love their appearance, though they will not usually decorate themselves to make themselves look better. Most fairies do not wear clothes, but they do have a natural covering that does the work for them. This covering is always a deeper color that the skin tone of the fairy itself. Despite this some Fairies do dawn clothes when travleing and when away from their home lands. Wither it is against the laws of the Fairy to wear clothes or not is completely up to the clan the Fairy comes from.

Banshee

User Image

The Banshee is a ghost being, appearing where they see fit to appear. With a dark demeanor they are not a friendly being. Their real weapon is their voice, able to scream a piercing scream that can range from deafening and confusing an opponent or victim, or killing them with sound waves that mess up the internal organs. Normally, or when seen, the Banshee, no matter the gender in life, appears to be a girl. In most cases when the man was very masculine in life they will force a male appearance. They can either be see transparent or appear like a solid being, though they cant be touched unless they want too.

*While the Banshee is the prefered race to use if you want a Ghost character, it isnt the only one. Under concent of Crytuf you can make a different ghost.

Centaur

User Image

With a humanoid torso and a horse’s body, they are considered the tallest of the races besides the obvious ones like giants and other tall creatures. Standing an impressive eight to nine feet tall, the Centaur is an intimidating creature to meet face to face. Though not naturally aggressive, they can have a mean streak, especially if they start drinking. They love wine, and drink it whenever they get a chance, any alcohol will do actually, but they especially love wine. Aside from the occasional drink, they are actually very intelligent and almost unsurpassed in their skill in astronomy. The Centaurs coloring can range from a solid color to any other mix seen in horses. Centaurs are very sociable among their own kind, drinking and laughing when not out hunting or patrolling the herd grounds. When others come around they become solitary and distant, not really doing business with anyone except for a few races. The Centaurs favored weapons are the bow and the sword, though they have been known to use spears and pikes on occasion when at war or massing a charge against an enemy.

Tigerals

User Image

The Tigeral is a strong race of cat like beings. They are a very warrior type peoples, enjoying the thrill of battle whenever it can be experienced and doing well too. Mostly seen as tall humanoid cats, they have all the features one would expect of a big cat. A long tail, pronounced muzzle, ears that rest atop the head, and a thick fur coat covering their entire bodies the only thing humanish about them is that they walk upright and speak the common language. Most Tigerals has a tiger like striped coat of fur of varying colors. Not a good-tempered race, they would just as soon hit you in the face than speak to you, making them a very feared race, though its more intimidation than fear. The Tigerals favored weapon in battle is the broadsword, though any sword is deadly in the hands of this race.

Humans

User Image

Humans come in all shapes and sizes, hair colors and skin colors, the most diverse race around. They are very simple creatures, not really skilled in any one thing from birth like some other races. The human makes up for this by being a quick study and can learn to be skilled in any field he or she chooses. Might or Magic they seem to cover all fields of work as easily as breathing. And while more common than other races, they have personalities that differ and change on more drastic scales than most any other race.
