Tsuki was ready. The stars had told her stories, stories of the day that she would meet those majestic beings that her mother had told her about. She had grown up hearing those tales of lions, and therefore she looked forward to the day she'd be aquainted with some... and now, Tsuki thought, she was old enough to see the world for herself. She was going to follow in her mother's pawprints, and become adviser to someone... although, she did not know who.

Her search for a lion would be a long one... she needed to really look for someone she could understand, someone that she could help and advise. A lion, or lioness, just for her. And so, where should a lady look when she needed to find Lionfolk?

The Pridelands, of course. It was one of the strongest, flourishing prides, after all. She trotted onwards, the massive form of PrideRock jutting out ahead.

This would certainly be interesting.

Small, yet powerful muscles rippled under a sleek, silver coat. Pale green eyes scoured the savannah, in search of food. A purple tail flicked with anticipation. The hunt was about to begin, and the lioness could smell it.

The little Pridelander took in a deep breath, filled her lungs with oxygen, and let it all out. Her mind was clear, and her goal was set.

Today, she would kill.

The little lion's chest swelled with pride, and she pressed onwards, one thought running through her mind.

"Prey, prey, prey, prey, prey..."

Soon. Soon. Soon. She'd get there. And then, she'd be a real huntress.

Tsuki lifted her muzzle, and did her best to pick up the many scents that were floating around on the breeze. The air was laden with many interesting smells and scent-trails, but one scent in particular caught the maned wolf's attention.

"There's a lion about."

The young adult's neck-fur fluffed up with excitement, and her maw curved into a grin. Ha! It'd been so quick, so easy. Finally, she'd be able to speak with a real lion.

This area of the Pridelands seemed to be teeming with them, after all.

Hantu quickly spotted a herd of antelope, and quickly she crouched into position, waiting patiently in the shadows. Carefully, she inspected the herd, trying to find as much information as she could possibly pick up. At once, she grinned - it seemed that one of the adults was sick... and there, to the left, was a fawn, grazing with it's parent.

With an amused flick of her tail, Hantu sized the two up, playing the scene in her mind. Which preybeast would be easier to kill? Which antelope could she strike down more easily?

Quietly, she moved forward, crawling comando-style, her belly dragging against the earth. Never did she feel more in control of the situation - often, the cub felt that she did not know what to do. But now... oh, she could smell it. The antelope's meat, sizzlin' out there in the hot sun. How inviting it smelt.

Muscles quivering, Hantu prepared to pounce.

"It's useless."

Tsuki had her eyes on the cub. After all, the scent had lead right here, to the feet of Hantu... and Tsuki couldn't help but find herself slightly dissapointed that such a promising trail had led to a mere cub that probably hadn't even made it's first kill.

Taking care not to alert the preybeasts any further, Tsuki slid to the cub's side, and grinned.

"You did pretty good, kid," she whispered, "But the winds are all wrong. See how tense those preybeasts look? Like they're ready to take off. They can smell you. Again, I'll tell you... the winds are all wrong. You've come from the wrong direction, cub."

She paused.

"Try to leap. They'll take off as soon as you make a sudden movement."

Hantu stifled a growl in her throat, and her tail flicked with a fleeting streak of anger as the maned wolf pointed out her mistake.

Somehow, the cub didn't apprechiate the last minute lesson. She'd gotten this all perfect, all wonderful, and at the very last minute, this stranger had informed her of one thing that she hadn't done right. Psssh. Thanks a lot.

Shrugging off the wolf's words, Hantu gave a defiant cry and leapt out - to be answered by the sound of hooves almost instantly thundering against the savannah floor. Desperately, the cub bolted after the fleeing antelope... but the chase had been over before it had begun.
With a beating heart, the cub sank to the floor. She'd... failed.

So, she wouldn't be eating fresh meat today, after all. Her heart sank, and the cub's ears flattened. The wolf had been right.

"Aawwwr, this sucks," suddenly, frustration gripped Hantu, and she slammed her forepaws against the ground, "I almost had it."

The maned wolf could see the cub's disappointment, and at once she felt for the girl. After all, it seemed that the lion had really wanted that catch - or any catch - and so, she drew closer, pulling to a stop at the cub's side.

"Hey," she said, nudging the lion with her muzzle, "It was pretty close. After all, for a cub, that was a great effort. You had everything right. Positioning and wind-direction was off, but seriously..." she winked, "That wasn't so bad. And there's always next time."

Tsuki paused. Hrrm, maybe meeting a small lion wasn't so bad. After all, cubs needed aid more than adults, and were more easily influenced and shaped. Maybe, if she were lucky, Tsuki could add her own personal touch to this cub... and at once, she realised that she'd struck gold.

"Say," her voice was more friendly now, "I know how to hunt. If you need a mentor."

For Tsuki, this looked extremely promising.

"Come, let me show you..."

An unlikely alliance was about to begin.
