From one year ago, before a high school biology course:

"you can clone dinosaurs. i know, and i have found out how.

1) rumor break:
the amber trick in the movie would have never worked. To begin with, a mosquito could not pierce the rough pebbled hide of a dinosaur. Second, if it were to draw dna, it would be a gamble as to what sino dna it would be.

2) Obtaining DNA:
the dna from the dinosaur would be left in the calcium remnant that survived ossilization. during fossilization, most of the calcium is replaced by minerals, but some of it still resides. after many and many specimens of bone are found, and once the dna is drawn from the bone, it will have to be syncronized in order to become a full dna strand

3) completing the dna strand:
once a suffcient line of dna is pulled from the bone, you will have several different portions of a single strand, and you have to splice them together. this calls for dna of a different source to fill in the gaps of the strand. in the movie, they used frog dna. this had an up and down affect. it allowed the dinosaurs not to see still things, ((rexs can see still objects, but the movie rex is not discredited, because they used frog dna, and frogs can not se still objects.)) however, it also gave the animals the ability to change gender and breed)) use crocodile dna in the gaps, and you will have a complete dna strand. then clone it as you would a regular dna strand. "

summaries of old theory:

1) still the same. Mosquitos would not be a thorough source of dna. the chance of them having usable blood dna is slim, and even still the dna would be a complete gamble as to what creature it belonged to.

2)Obtaining DNA- again, the bones are the real source. though fossilization turns the bones into rocks, the bones don't entirely lose their calcium. inside the calcium are the proteins that are molded from the genes in dna, thusly meaning the calcium contains dna. extracting the dna from the calcium remnants would be difficult, but if it could be done, and dna extraction was successful, you would have many individual dna strands.

3) splicing and cloning- so now you have several separate strands of dna. what do you do? you splice them together. how? the JP scientists used frog dna. that's a mistake. it gave the animals faulty vision and reproductive capabilities. Instead, using croc or chicken dna, which are dna more similar to the dino dna, the strands could be combined. then, with the singular dna strand, you could clone it just as they did dolly for example.

am I still crazy?

its very plausible, but it would probably take a long time to get all the calcium out of the fossils. it'd be fun to try, though.
