I've loved to write poetry for a while now and I thought that this guild could use a place to post poetry that our members have written. Any poems that I write or have already written will be placed in this first post below this. I know they're not that good, but I want to get advice on how to make them better and I also want to read some poetry that our other members have written.

Insanity

What do I see?
Everything isn’t real.
How should I know?
How can I prove what I see?
Slowly this world decays.
Things are not what they seem.
Movement among shadows.
Reality is pulling through.
People who aren’t really there,
Voices that others can’t hear.
How do I know if I’m seeing things,
Or if it is really all of you who are blind?

Life’s sounds

The wind whistling through the trees,
The birds singing to the sun,
The coyotes howling at the moon,
The sound of nature’s music fills the air,
Then the fall into eternal silence.

Darkness

The darkness within my mind.
Slowly day turns to night.
The sun giving way to the moon.
The creatures sleep.
The sounds of life all around.
Owls hooting in their trees.
Slowly the night gives way to morning.
Another restless night.
I rise unwillingly.
I prepare for the day ahead.
Wishing back the darkness.
The darkness within my mind.

My Path

My light shining only a few feet ahead,
The road never ending enveloped in darkness,
Continuously walking without seeing the end,
The path I take drawing back among the shadows,
The light flickers and dies,
My entire trail lost to the shadows.

These are just the poems that I am willing to put on here. Later on I'll probably add more of my poems, but for right now I'd prefer not to put them on here.

I also have a poem called "Darkness" or "Dark Sea." Which ever you feel would be the best topic. But I'll post that later, this one is called

"Two Sides of Love..."

Love
It consumes
its a strength
Not a weakness
It can cause people
To do crazy things
Amazing things
It can lift one's spirits
It can invoke trust
Love is a great thing
___________________
Love
It consumes
Its a weakness
Not a strength
It makes people fools
It makes those fools
Do crazy things
Stupid things
It can break a heart
It can destroy a soul
Love is a destructive thing

Two sides of one heart
One mind
One soul...
Two sides of love

Wow, these poems you guys write are very deep. I have a few poems that I have written as well, but I don't know if I should post them. These poems convey a lot of hurt and dismay, and the last time I had someone read them, they suggested that I see the school counselor. That really hurt me more inside. People really cant see the sides of things that I can see. The way we, the people in this guild, can see things diffrently. We pick apart every detail, and ask ourselves if there is a greater meaning to these...details. I guess I do feel safe here. In a way. I have changed my mind. I will post some of my poems here, if it is okay with the actual members, for I am yet to be one. As soon as I get permission, then I would gladly post a few of my own poems up.

The End

Another story ending
Another chapter written
Slowly the ink runs dry
Stopping at the end of the rope
Only to begin again on the next page
Like life and death
It all continues, going on
Moving forward-to an unseen destination
That no one can seem to see
To find the final ending
Seems like a dream more than truth
But until someone reaches that goal
We’ll sit here without proof,
And I’ll continue believing it is all a myth.

Self
Bright glittery colors
That spiral away
So quickly
And spin so elegantly
Fixated on the tempo

Drops of paint
Echo with a PLOP
Staining clothes and arms
Eternally, with a pigment
That will never fade away

Flowing the words over paper
With unreadable scrawl
Unknown meaning behind the words
After they’ve lost their meaning.
Start back from the beginning

Bright glittery colors
That spiral away
So quickly
And spin so elegantly
Fixated on the tempo

Drops of paint
Echo with a PLOP
Staining clothes and arms
Eternally, with a pigment
That will never fade away

She’s my light when I am down,
And flies me higher than my wings
Ever could reach, enveloping me in
A warm cocoon, that no one else can break
So that some day I’ll blossom
Into something so much lovelier
Than what I am today

I shall always embrace you
No matter how hard you fall
I’ll be there to catch you
I shall always love you
Like Only I could do
But Listen to me now,
For I shall only say this Once
~Aishiteru

Bath

Soft black fur
Soaked in suds
That give the pet
A slippery feel.
Hair turns a silvery grey
As the water falls
Over the edge
To form a waterfall
As the water spreads
Across the floor
Only to be soaked up by towels
Spread across the tile
Even as the sharp SPLASH
Echoes through the room
The child remains
Ever still prying
The tongue from its face.

Taboo Marriage

Love is love
No matter what
Devotion is devotion
To a single identity
Don’t hold them apart,
Don’t use religion as a shield
Because not everyone believes
Everyone has the right
To do what they believe is right
Yet you hold them at arms length
And claim that it is wrong,
For a man to love a man,
Or a woman to love another.
Its unjustifiable,
What you do,
Because religion is separate from state
Yet you use it as a crutch
To take away the rights that they deserve
So what if society thinks its Taboo
Except them as they are
They’re everywhere around you
And they’re not just going to disappear

Innocents

Little girl in tight gold curls,
To frame the face that heaven
Stole. Eyes turned from blue to coal,
Hiding away till it is pure.

Twist the truth to hide the lies,
Blackened reasons to survive
No man would sacrifice this, that
Has stolen from itself to
Hold fast to the sins of grudge.

Envy what others hold host to,
As your lusting their success.
Purity is the eight and final sin
That mankind dismissed, unaddressed.

Twist the truth to hide the lies,
Blacken reasons to survive
Not one mortal hand would stray far,
For the unmentioned sin is twisting
In the stomachs of every man.

Purity is the eighth and final sin
That mankind dismissed, unaddressed,
For, from this sin- all others sprout,
And plant their seeds of vengeance…

Vatican Globe
By Arnaldo Pomodoro

Mans purest intentions
Still result in sin
For every ounce of innocents
There is one more piece of evil.

Holes cut the world in two
Breaking up reason with indulgences
So sinning is so much less a chore,
It comes so naturally.
Flowing like a spout to spray the good
With impure intentions.

Those who sin spread the disease,
Infecting the purest of men
And soon they are left,
The last of an ever dying race.

Smooth, golden purity,
Destroyed by blackened edges,
Torn apart by hate,
Easily spreading the space
Between to better enable distortion.

Droplets

White Roses dripping
Water on its petals and
Falling off its leaves

Broken City

The moon shines
Down on the city.

The crying, poor and broken
That cover the dirty streets.

There’s no one around in the darkness,
That mutters out a word.

As a single crow calls out to you
From behind the concrete town.

The building built on the backs of man,
But not a single man in town cries out.

And do the city must sing
“The moon shines.”

The Game

Life is like a game
You play when no one’s home
As the opponent’s bishop goes for the king,
You sacrifice your Queen of Hearts
So easily. So distracted,
You miss the Jack
Coming up from the back.
Forget the truth, just roll
the dice of another’s life.
Forget the rules, just roll the dice
To finish the resolution,
To finally get to the destination.

I'm going to respond to each poem individually so that I don't miss anything.
Innocents: This poem has a really dark tone to it, which I love in poetry. I also like how this entire poem addresses a truth that people don't even normally see.
Vatican Globe: I like how this poem addresses the idea that no one ever does anything for only good intentions, but for some impure reason with such a certainty.
Droplets: I really like this poem and I always love reading haikus, but I don't like how they're so constricting on how a person can write.
Broken City: Wow. I really like this poem. It has a great sense of oppresion and it flow miraculously.
The Game: I love this one. I like how through comparing people's lives to that of a game it shows just how short-sighted people can be always willing to sacrifice others for their own gain.
(At least that's what I see in these poems, but then again I look very deeply.)
I have to say that my favorite (out of these at least) is either Broken City or The Game.

I just wrote this up and it's not finished yet. It's probably not even near completion, but I'm too tired to keep writing right now so I'm posting what I have so far and going to bed. Please tell me what you think of it so far. I know that I'll have to change how I have it set up since I changed format in the middle of writing it, but I'll worry about that later.

Our world

(I am going to try to write this poem on how I feel about everything going on in our world so this one will probably be extremely long or very short.)

Birth

The birth of one,
And the hope of many.
Birth, the only time of purity,
Before one can be tainted by the evils of our world.
Slowly our world takes grasp on them,
And drain out their purity leaving only greed and selfishness.
They come into a world that no longer cares,
In a place where nothing pure can survive long.
Slowly our society feeds on all that is pure,
Draining it, twisting it, into what it desires.
A society based on only caring for one’s self.
Very seldom can those who care and worry for others survive.
Very seldom can people care for long.

Childhood-Teenage years

The point where purity can still exist,
Not yet drained completely from one.
A time where magic and monsters still exist.
A time of dreams and a time of carelessness.
Only lasting for a short period, but giving so much.
The only time when we’re not completely tainted.
The only time when the cold grasp of reality has not yet completely dragged us in.
The first time that greed passes through our minds.
The first time that one can feel the coldness of desire.
The first time one thinks that they are all that is important.
The first time where one falls in a society where no one will help you up.
The first realization of just how alone we can be,
Even among the crowds of hundreds on the street.
The loneliest person in the world can be standing in the middle of the crowd.
And yet not once do we think to make a change,
Not yet old enough to realize that we shouldn’t conform,
And slowly we all lose attachments to each other.
Slowly we are enveloped in this darkness of our world,
We struggle for freedom and scream for help,
But everyone passes by without ever lending a hand.
We believe we have the infinite knowledge,
But we know so much less.
We watch others fall and only think of what this lets us gain.
We make trivial alliances with friends,
But very seldom do they last.
One false move and our world falls completely into darkness,
And it is in the darkness that we must learn what true hardship is,
Where we must learn just how alone we truly are.
Slowly the path is revealed to us,
And we never question whether there is another path hidden in the shadows.
We conform believing it to be the only way to survive,
But it is by the struggles of the other path,
The one which is left unseen that leaders can arise,
Leaders who can cast away the greed from our world.
Who can keep the darkness at bay and bring upon an era of light.
Who will try to mend the damage that we have caused ourselves,
And who will eventually fall to the lust of power,
And the cycle repeats.
Forever doomed to cycle from light to shadow,
Casting upon ourselves a fate worse than death,
For death has an end, but we shall repeat the cycle,
Always doomed to repeat the mistakes of those before us,
And yet never learning better.
We criticize those who come before us and we try to surpass the,
But we never look upon ourselves with the same criticizing eyes,
We always believe ourselves to be better,
Always learning the mistakes of yesterday,
So we shall supposedly never make them again,
Yet somehow we repeat a cycle,
Which has been happening since the beginning of mankind.
An era of peace and greed overwhelms one who believes who should take control,
An era of darkness and suffering and we rise to destroy those who oppress us,
We bring upon another era of peace,
And yet we always claim to never make the mistakes of those before us.

It's nothing really. I just write how I feel and what I think. I haven't worked anymore on it, but I might do some more later. I'm glad that you liked my work. Thank you for leaving such a pleasant comment.

Oh, its no problem at all. Actually to tell the truth, your the first person to talk back to me...on any of the forums in the guild, so THANK YOU. I was really starting to wonder if I was a plague. Anyway I feel comfortable enough here now to put in one of my own poems, so here goes:

Fearing Death

Im not scared to die.

Im scared of what I miss, if I will be remembered with laughter,
not tears, and if I will make an impression in someone's life.

Death is not feared by those who live wisely.

I do not fear death, so does that make me wise? How many times
have I avoided talking to strangers or walking in bad
neighborhoods alone at night, and eating Halloween candy before
checking it?

In some aspects, everybody lives in fear, everybody, everyday.

Fear of consequences for our actions. Then, there are people who
aren't everybody. The ones who live life to the fullest, and make
each day everlasting, as if it were their last day.

In a way, we are all a little like that.

Testing our limits. How high is too high, and how deep is too deep
before we feel we have no control over what's happening
around us.

I do not fear death itself

I only fear how death will approach me.
In the dead of night.
In the broad daylight
As unsuspecting as can be.

Thank you, it was one of my first poems I wrote. I had stoped for the longest time and then I started back up, I kinda lost my touch to it, but that was more or less a tester to see how hard the critism is here. I am satisfied with it now and will gladly post more as soon as possible...I am currently not home and wont be for a few more days and thus will not be able to post as often until I get home and re-find all my poems and whatnot...talk to you later.
