I can do all the basics of all english other than saddleseat. I used to jump and so I can jump pretty high(the highest I've done was 5 feet ish) I think that dressage is the most important for english riding because it teaches you to comtrol your horse well. Yeah...

I do jumping and some dressage. I'd love to learn more dressage but my trainer doesn't know much dressage. Which is odd, but she is a National Champ.

Dressage is the basis and foundation of ALL good riding. It allows you to have complete control over your horse and your body. To succeed in dressage you have to be in control. You can't just flail around like a rag doll all the time. And yes Cherry, dressage most certainly IS important. Jumping may be more fun, but dressage improves your jumping.

You should ALWAYS start with the basics. That includes dressage. So YES Cherry, do dressage before you jump.

Speaking of dressage, that reminds me that I have done some basic dressage stuff

Like what Ally?? I don't really know what"basic dressage" is... I've been doing it for so long and I was kind of thrown into dressage starting at about 2nd level and then I went back. But I started riding dressage at 2nd level and so I don't really know what the basics are...I've been working on new "basics" though...
