Sssh. I didn't ask Tasuku's permission for this, but he had a couple questions about fighting, and I thought I could help someone out. I have all the recent Loveless manga, so I know the Battle System pretty well. If anyone has any questions, I think I summed up the System...We could maybe add this to the FAQs...? xOOO. Opinions?

First off, Ritsuka and Soubi are different since they aren't an official pair and have different names. That's why Soubi bleeds when he fights.
A battle is waged between two pairs of combatants. The fighter launches the offense, and the sacrifice receives the damage. Normally, you fight two on two. You know this, already. Now onto the good stuff. The fighter opens the battle, then manifests his power in the form of spells. Word spells.
Damage is accumulated in the form of restraints. When the sacrifice undergoes a complete restraint, and he is unable to continue, that results in a loss. The fighter fights, but the sacrifice is in control of the battle. The fighter preforms according to the will of the sacrifice. Soubi is the ideal fighter....being powerful, but has no will of his own. I don't like his style. Don't be like him. Tell Kiki when she's wrong, okay? <3
haha. Okay. I'll try and understand what you typed. word spells? So Ryuchi says things to change the scenery of something or tells what Kiki to do and then Kiki decides to follow him or not...?
Kiki doesn't say anything. Like for example, Ryu would say, "your four limbs...tear asunder to the four winds!" to attack the other person. If it damages the other Fighter he's attacking, the damage becomes restraints on the other guy's sacrifice. When the Sacrifice is fully restrained - bam. Fight over.
Ok....so if I'm attacked then you're restrained. You sort of act as a shield and weapon(?)

Yes, but only if you're hurt. You can use words to defend, also. Be poetic. xDD Shield, yes, since fighters attack each other, but the damage goes to the sacrifice, who has control over the battle since she can stop it when she decides. The sacrifice is not a weapon. The words the Fighter uses are the weapons. You're not allowed to move during the battle. You can only use words. Except...if you get knocked over and you're just moving back into place. Like how Yoji nailed Soubi's hand...that's using outside forces, and is against the rules.
....That's why the background during the battle was different when the thing was finished. They somehow go into a different....well...I can't explain...
poetic? I think I can be poetic. You can use nature during battles, right? Or maybe a lampost that's nearby. ahahaha and you bonk them on the head. K.O.!!

The fighter attacks with words. Gah. It's magic, because his words come true depending on whether the opponent fighter defends it with something better.
ok whenever I read or hear the word magic I think of earth, wind, fire, etc. So right now you can use any outside object or force...only your voice. Your Sacrifice acts as your shield but can stop the battle anytime. The Fighter uses words to damage and restraint their Sacrifice. Can't move.

You can not use any outside force. You can use temperature, the elements, yadda yadda...but nothing like...a nail or lamp post.

Umm..."Wind of Absolute Zero...Thief...Steal their heat." Soubi uses these words against the Zeros in Volume three. They feel no pain, so they couldn't tell when they were getting frostbite. They lost, and Yoji was restrained. Yup. Just...be good with words. Understand? xDD

Actually, we do have a topic that explains word battles. It's on the main forum. I'm not sure if it's as in depth as your own explanation, but it is there.
