The Olympians [Male]

User ImageName: Zeus
Position: God of Thunder and King of the Gods
Facts

Zeus is the God of gods and men, the greatest and most powerful of all Olympians.
Other names for Zeus are the Lord of the Sky, the Rain God, and the Cloud Gatherer.
Zeus' bird is the eagle, and his tree, the oak.

Birth
He is the youngest of 6 born to Cronus and Rhea. His father, Cronus, was warned that one of his offspring would dethrone him. To prevent that, he swallowed each of his children immediately following their births. Except for Zeus. Rhea saved him by replacing him with a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes, which he swallowed. Zeus was raised on Crete and cared for by the ash nymph, Adrasta, and her sister, Io. When he was grown, he returned, and with Rhea and Metis' help, was able to lace Cronus' cup with an emetic. This caused Cronus to vomit up the 5 gods and goddesses, fully grown, and the stone. After Zeus struck Cronus dead with a thunderbolt, they all assembled under Zeus' leadership.

Lovers & Children
Zeus was married to his sister, Hera. He came to her disguised as a little cuckoo bird and hid in her clothes during a rainstorm. They were married in the spring, and their wedding night is said to have lasted three hundred years! Their children are Ares, *********, and Hephaestus - the latter is also said to have been Hera's child alone.

Master of Disguise
There are a number of stories in which Zeus changes his form to get something...usually a lover. In the form of a swan, he seduced Nemesis who bore the egg that was placed in the care of Leda. Danae was locked in an underground room with only a barred window to let in fresh air and light. Zeus became a shower of gold that fell into the little room and impregnated Danae. To get in bed with Alcmene, Heracles' mother, Zeus took the form of her husband, Amphitryon, and lay with her for three day less nights

User ImageName: Poseidon
Position: God of the Sea
Facts:

Poseidon is the ruler of the sea.
Poseidon is credited with having created the horse.
His signature weapon is the trident, and he was commonly called "Earth-shaker."

Birth
Poseidon is a brother of Zeus, the son of Cronus and Rhea. Poseidon was essential in the overthrow of Cronus, and used his trident to capture him. The three brothers, Poseidon, Zeus and Hades, then divided the world among themselves; Poseidon got the sea, Zeus got the sky, and Hades got the underworld. The land was fair game for all.

Under the Sea
It is said that Poseidon rode a golden chariot pulled by white horses. At his approach, storms ceased and sea creatures frolicked about the chariot. He had a beautiful palace under the sea, but was more often found on Olympus. The trident he carried was capable of creating terrible storms and shaking the earth.

User ImageName:Herms
Position: God of Trade

Facts

Hermes was Zeus' Messenger and the Divine Herald.
Hermes served as the god of trade, travelers, thieves, commerce, and athletes, as well as many others.
Hermes appears more in mythology than any of the other gods.

Birth
Hermes was born to Zeus and Maia in a cave in Arcadia. He grew extremely quickly and didn't need his mother's care for long. Zeus entrusted Hermes with a herald's staff, winged sandals, and assorted other things and saw that he was welcomed into the Olympian family

Moonlighting
Though Hermes reported to Zeus, he was helpful to many of the gods. As the Divine Herald, he assisted Hades by gently summoning the dead and led the souls to their last home.

Hermes also played somewhat of a mid-wife in a few myths. When Semele burned to death by the sight of glorious Zeus, Hermes rescued the unborn Dionysus and sewed him up in Zeus' thigh. He delivered him three months later. He cut Asclepius from his mother's dead body and gave him to his father, Apollo.

User ImageName: Hephaestus
Position: God of Fire

Facts

Hephaestus is the God of Fire.
Hephaestus was originally an Asia Minor diety.
The Greeks thought Hephaestus' forge was under a volcano giving an explanation as to why it would explode.
Hephaestus' Roman name is Vulcan.

Birth
Hephaestus is the son of Hera alone, but it is said that he could have been fathered by Zeus. When Hera saw that Hephaestus was born deformed, she was disgusted and threw him from the heavens. He landed in the sea and was rescued by Thetis and Eurynome, who raised him. He was given his first smithy and became a master craftsman. Hera, one day, was admiring a brooch that Thetis was wearing, and learned that Hephaestus had made it. She brought him back up to Olympus and gave him the finest equipment and materials.

Hephaestus was very curious about his parentage and couldn't accept the facts Hera kept dishing out...that he was fatherless. He even went so far as to lock her up and torture her! But she insisted that she was telling the truth.

Master Craftsman
Hephaestus was the craftsman-of-the-gods and was not only their armorer and smith, but also made their dwellings and furnishings. He created Pandora, the first woman, he helped in the delivery of Athene by breaching Zeus' skull, and he created his own workers out of gold. He was a kindly, peace-loving god, as popular on earth as in heaven.

User Image Name: Ares
Position: God of War

Facts

Ares is the God of War and loved battle and conflict for his own sake.
It is said that the dog was wronged by being chosen as Ares' animal.
Ares' bird is the vulture.
The Roman god, Mars, was more popular than Ares as the Romans were more warlike than the Greeks.

Birth
Ares' parents are Zeus and Hera, both of whom detested him because he did whatever possible to incite war and turmoil. In some myths, he is the son of Hera alone. She conceived him when she touched a certain flower...yes, the Greeks believed some flowers were capable of this.

The Battleground
Ares was often accompanied by his sister, Eris, the Goddess of Discord, and by his twin sons whose names, Phobus and Deimus, mean "panic" and "fear." Hades was also an ally of his as he provided a lot of souls. His name was invoked in battle, which didn't necessarily guarantee a victory but a lot of bloodshed.

Here is a small excerpt from Edith Hamilton's Mythology, which gives me a very vivid idea of the scene:

...Yet he has a train of attendants on the battlefield which should inspire anyone with confidence. His sister is there, Eris, which means Discord, and Strife, her son. The Goddess of War, Enyo, walks beside him, and with her are Terror and Trembling and Panic. As they move, the voice of groaning arises behind them and the Earth streams with blood...

User ImageName:Apollo
Position: God of the Sun

Facts

Apollo was considered "the most Greek of all the Gods."
He was also known as the Archer-god, the Healer, the God of Light, and the God of Truth.
The dolphin and crow were just two of many animals sacred to Apollo.
His tree is the laurel.

Birth
Apollo is the illegitimate son of Zeus. His mother is Leto, and he has a twin sister, Artemis. He was born on the island of Delos, and his delivery was assisted by his nine-day-old sister.

Mama's Boy
Apollo and his sister were very protective of their mother and were often involved in defending her. When a woman named Niobe bragged about having more children than Leto, Apollo and Artemis killed them all but two. They came to the rescue again when Tityus tried to rape their mother and killed him.

Very Talented Guy
Apollo is best known for interest in music, and received a lyre from Hermes as compensation for cows Hermes had stolen from him. Hermes also gave him a musical pipe in exchange for a golden staff.

Apollo was also a healer. He taught people about medicine and often cured the afflicted. Those who lived in cities that he didn't like weren't as lucky. He was known to bring plagues upon entire communites.

Is there is anything this God didn't do? I don't think so! Apollo was also the God of Truth and Prophecy. False words never passed through his lips. His oracle at Delphi was the place people went to to find out true answers to their questions. Apollo spoke through a priestess at the temple, who would sit in a three-legged chair over a vapor rising from the Earth. She would go into a trance and utter things which were translated by priests.

[Not one of The Olympians since he lived under the
earth but thought I'd put him with the other male Gods]

User ImageName: Hades
Position: Lord of the underworld

Facts

Hades ruled over the dead in the underworld.
Hades was called the God of Wealth, of the precious metals hidden in the earth.
Hades' name means "the unseen".
The Greeks rarely referred to the god of the dead as Hades.
They called him Pluto instead, which means "the giver of wealth."

Birth
Hades is the first son of Cronus and Rhea. The following four children born shared his fate of being swallowed at birth by Cronus. Zeus, the youngest, saved them, and like Poseidon, Hades was essential in the overthrow of his father. Though Zeus was deemed leader, the three brothers split the territory equally. Zeus took the sky, Poseidon the waters, and Hades the underworld.

Realm of the Dead
Hades was given a helmet of darkness that allowed him to see at night. Tartarus in the Greek world was located in the far west over the edge of the world. Though Hades was a terrible god, he wasn't an evil one. He rarely left the underworld and was never allowed to visit Olympus.

The Olympians [Female]

User ImageName: Hera
Positin: Goddess of Marrige and women

Facts

Hera is the protector of marriage and the goddess married women turned to for help.
Hera was often said to be the most beautiful of all the Olympians.
Argos was Hera's favorite city.
Animals sacred to Hera are the cow and the peacock.

Birth
Hera is the daughter of Cronus and Rhea, and the sister of Posiedon, Hades, Demeter, Hestia, and Zeus. She was swallowed by Cronus as soon as she was born because of a prophecy claiming that he would be dethroned by one of his children. When she and her siblings were saved by Zeus, she was taken to Arcadia where she was raised by Temenus, and the Seasons were her nurses.

Lovers & Children
Hera was married to her powerful brother, Zeus. They shared four children (maybe more): Ares, Eris, *********, and Hephaestus. The latter is also said to have been Hera's child alone. She also had a daughter named Ilithyia, who was the goddess of childbirth.

Insanely Jealous Wife
Most of the stories about Hera are about her jealousy of Zeus' many affairs and illegitimate children. Her time seemed to be spent tormenting her husband's lovers and sometimes the children as well. Heracles, the son of Zeus and Alcmene, was the one who annoyed her the most, and she tormented him his entire mortal life. She was tricked into nursing him as an infant. When she discovered that he was Zeus' illigetimate son, she pulled him away, and the milk still flowing from her breast created the Milky Way.

In another story, Hera was out one day to find one nymph among a group whom she suspected Zeus was having an affair with. As she was looking them over, she was distracted by a chatterbox named Echo. As Hera stood listening to Echo go on and on, the other nymphs ran away. Hera was so angry that she punished Echo. The poor nymph could never again speak unless she was repeating someone.

User ImageName:Artemis
Positine: Goddess of the moon, all wild things, the protectress of youth, and the patroness of hunters, childbirth, fisherman, and unmarried girls.

Birth
Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and Leto, and is the twin sister of Apollo. They were born on the island of Delos, and in some myths, the nine-day-old Artemis is said to have assisted in the delivery of her brother. Both of them were very protective of their mother.

Lovers & Children
Artemis never took a lover, so therefore, never had any children. She is one of the three virgin goddesses and also required perfect chastity of her companions, who were mostly nymphs. In one myth, she turned her companion, Callisto, into a bear as punishment for being seduced by Zeus.

Thrill of the Hunt
Artemis carried with her a quiver of silver arrows. Women who died during childbirth or quick and painless deaths were said to have been shot by one of her arrows.

Because her love of hunting, she became friends with Orion. Apollo was jealous of this friendship and tricked his sister into killing Orion. She later set his image among the stars.

Agamemnon once killed a stag in Artemis' domain and was forced to sacrifice his own daughter before his fleet was allowed to leave for Troy. In some stories, Artemis saves Iphigenia and makes her a priestess.

User ImageName: Athene
Positine:Goddess of War and Wisdom

Facts

Athene is the Goddess of War and Wisdom.
Gray-eyed is the word most often used to describe Athene.
Athene's tree, which she created, is the olive tree.
Athene's bird is the owl.
Athene's Roman name is Minerva.

Birth
Athene is the daughter of Zeus and Metis. After hearing a prophesy that any son born to their union would dethrone him, Zeus swallowed Metis. Shortly after, he had a headache so Hermes went to get Hephaestus, who returned and breached Zeus' skull. Athena sprang from his head in full armor and was born. She was the only one Zeus trusted enough to carry his thunderbolt.

Lovers & Children
Athena was a vain, but private person. She was one of the three virgin goddesses, so never took a lover or bore any children. On one occasion, Hephaestus tried to rape her, but the semen landed on her thigh. She wiped in off and it landed on the ground, thus conceiving a child upon Mother Earth. But Gaea refused to accept responsibility, so the half-serpant, half-man, Erichthonius was reared by Athene.

The Great Inventor
Athene is credited to have tamed horses for men to use and invented the bridle. Other inventions include the flute, trumpet, plow, chariot, rake, ox yoke, and more. She was the guardian of "womanly arts," which included cooking, weaving, and spinning, as well as the first who taught the science of numbers. She also sent the idea of a wooden, hollow horse to Odysseus in a dream, which helped the Greeks to win the Trojan war.

Athens - Home Sweet Home
Athene and Poseidon seemed always at odds and fought for the city of Athens. They both created a gift for the people, and let them choose the best. Poseidon struck the Acropolis with his trident. This caused the rock to crack and water poured through into a deep well. The people weren't happy with this because it was salt water. Athene created the olive tree, which became the most prized tree in Greece. Of course, she prevailed and Poseidon flooded the city before he left...guess he was a poor loser. Athene's symbol, the owl, was put on Athenian coins.

Mortal Weakness
Athene loved and assisted many mortal heroes, who include Perseus, Jason and the Argonauts, Odysseus, Heracles, and Bellerophon.

She was present during the Trojan war, rooting for and aiding the Greeks, of course. She made Ajax go insane when he plotted to kill Odysseus, Menelaus and Agamemnon. She also helped Odysseus during his ten-year journey home.

User ImageName:Aphrodite
Positine: Goddess of Love and Sexual Desire

Facts

Aphrodite is the Goddess of Love and Sexual Desire.

Aphrodite was conceived when Cronus threw Uranus' genitalia into the sea, and she rose naked out of the foam. Her name literally means "foam born." She was carried towards Cyprus by the West Wind and was clothed by the Seasons when she reached the shore. Cyprus was sacred to her after that. There are also other myths in which she is the offspring of Zeus and Dione.

SPARTA

YOU ARE A SPARTAN! Be proud! You have endured unbelievable pain and hardship to become a superior Spartan soldier and citizen! Taken away from your parents at age 7, you lived a harsh and often brutal life in the soldiers barracks. You were beaten by older children who started fights to help make you tough and strong. You were often were whipped in front of groups of other Spartans, including your parents, but never cried out in pain. You were given very little food, but encouraged to steal food, instead. If caught stealing, you were beaten. To avoid severe pain, you learned to be cunning, to lie, to cheat, to steal, and how to get away with it! Some of you are members of the Spartan secret police and enjoy spying on slaves. If you find a slave who is showing signs of leadership, you have orders to kill them immediately. You are fierce, capable, and proud of your strength. You know you are superior and are delighted to be Spartan!

ATHENS

YOU ARE AN ATHENIAN! Be courteous. You have been superbly educated in the arts and the sciences, and trained to be extremely productive and capable in times of peace or war. You are an achiever. Until age 6 or 7, you were taught at home by your mother, or by a male slave. From age 7-14, you attended a day school in the neighborhood where you memorized Homeric poetry and learned to play that magnificent instrument, the lyre. You learned drama, public speaking, reading, writing, math, and perhaps even how to play the flute. You attended four years of higher school, and learned more about math and science and government. At 18, you attended military school for two additional years! You are proud to be an Athenian! Famed for its literature, poetry, drama, theatre, schools, buildings, government, and intellectual superiority, you have no doubt that your polis, Athens, is clearly the shining star of all the Greek city-states.

CORINTH

YOU ARE A CORINTHIAN! As a coastal city-state, you have a glorious history as a cultural and trade center. Although your schools are not as fine, perhaps, as those of Athens, you have been educated in the arts and the sciences. As a child, you were taught at home by your mother, or by a male slave. From age 7-14, you attended a day school near your home where you memorized poetry and studied drama, public speaking, reading, writing, math, and the flute. You attended a higher school, if your parents could afford it. You also went to military school for at least two years. Your polis is famous for its bronze statues, pottery, and vase painters. You are creative problem-solvers. To solve the problem of foreign money pouring into your coastal polis, your city-state created it's own coinage, forcing traders to convert their coin at your banks. (For a fee!) To solve your problem of unemployment, you created a huge and successful public works program. Literature, culture, art, and businesses thrive in your city-state. You are proud to be a practical, productive Corinthian!

ARGOS

YOU ARE AN ARGIVE! You have been educated in the arts and the sciences, and trained to be productive and capable in times of peace or war. You have much of which to be proud. Although your close neighbor, Corinth, is on the coastline, your polis is located on a plain, where the weather tends to be hot and dry in the summer, and cold and wet in the winter. Your soil is not especially fertile, and you must fight the elements to grow food. In spite of this hardship, your magnificent stone sculptures of athletes, rippling with muscle, are the envy of many a Greek city-state. You are famous for your wonderful musicians and poets. Drama reached new heights in your polis. Plays are performed in open-air theatres, drawing crowds of 20,000 or more Argive citizens!

MEGARA

YOU ARE A MEGARIAN! Be proud that you are a Greek and come from such a respected city-state as Megara. As a coastal city-state, your history is similar to Corinth's, your neighbor. You believe your schools are as fine as those of Athens, although you have no doubt that any Athenian would disagree. You have been trained in the arts and the sciences. As a child, you were taught at home by your mother, or by a male slave. From age 7-14, you attended a day school near your home where you memorized poetry and studied drama, public speaking, reading, writing, science, poetry, the flute, the lyre, and a great deal of mathematics. Like most Megarians, you love money and have been trained to be an excellent accountant. You attended a higher school, and went to military school. Your polis is famous for its glorious textiles, which are the envy of other Greek city-states. You have, of course, your own coinage, an idea you copied from Corinth. Literature, culture, art, and businesses thrive in your city-state. You believe you offer your citizens even more freedom than Athens. (After the Peloponnesian War, Athens' famous philosopher, Plato, moved to Megara, where he remained for 10 years, so perhaps you are right! You also founded the city of Byzantium, also called Constantinople, now called Istanbul, way back in 630 BCE.) You are proud of your city-state's past and present achievements, and proud to be a Megarian!

Eros was a Spartan, oddly named since Eros meant love not a normal trait for a Spartan, he was new to the force at the ripe age of thirty. It was his first year and he had to march from a base out side of Sparta to Gythium not so much for any importance he had to walk to prove that he could it was like that last part of training. He was in full armor helm, chest, everything. At his side was his sword on his opposite arm was his shield.

He had been walking for days and it was taking its toll, "If I only had the speed of Hermes..." He groaned slowling down a bit.

"Doesn't everyone?" Came a laughing voice from above Eros.

Eros looked up at Herme, the go was in a relaxed laying down postion his inged shoes flaping to keep him floating. "Hermes have you brought me word from Zeus or just to mock me?" He asked looking up at him.

"I wouldn't call it Mocking...." Teased Hermes, "You Spartans can be so up tight no wonder sno wonder you all worship Ares...." He said adjusting his blue tinted shades.

Eros knew not what Hermes wore on his face; but he didn't stop walking to ask, "You can be rather pestering...." He said looking back, "Don't Zeus have you to run airons?"

"Nope....its been like a day off so I deid to go see the first person who said my name....." He zoomed over his head. "and you Eros was the first...."

"Lucky me..." Eros said heavly sarcastic. "Oh and I don't whorship Ares more then I have to..." He walked faster trying to leave Hermes behind though he knew he couldn't it was just wishful thinking.

"Oooo..." said Hermes interested now, he quickly flew ahead and turned around flying backwards. "So who is your head god.." He looked up, "Well besides the big guy up there...." He said refusing to Zeus. "Let me guess.....Aphrodite..." He said in a teasing whisper he was hitting two birds with one stone, one his name and two he was implying that Eros was a lustful person.

Eros knew that no matter who you held highest you must always say Zeus aloud, "Aphrodite is a whore...." He said then noticed Hermes expression had changed and he he quite in curiosity.

"Lets hope Aphrodite didn't hear you..." He came in close, "She can be a real b***h when mad..." He flew back out where he was before. He glanced around over his shades.

"Well really I haven't ever worshipped any god more then I have to..." He looked around continuing his walking starting to become annoyed. "Almost big as a blow hard as Ares...." he grumbbled.

Hermes kept up with him, "I'd becarefuly insulting gods as you do some may take you as a heratic..." His tone didn't sound like a treat though what he said did.

"Is that a threat?" Asked Eros looking up at him again.

"No, I wouldn't care if you whorshiped us or not...." He replied. "Though Zeus has temper....." Hermes heard Zeus's voice inside his head. "Well I got some work to do see ya'!" He flew off so fast that it pulled the wind past Eros.

Walking into the temple dedicated to the golden goddess of love Irene was assaulted with the noise of some angry being throwing a fit. “If you continue on as you are the lines on your face will become deeper,” Irene spoke her words softly as soon as she had seen the goddess of the temple Aphrodite, pacing back and forth yelling her distain about some human or other, a disdainful look on her face.

“..Not only do I have to deal with an ungrateful brat, now I have some nobody calling me a whore!” Aphrodite stopped and turned to the ungrateful brat she had just finished her rant on and gave Irene a sneer before seeing the bowl of grapes in the girl’s hands. Seeing the meagre offering Aphrodite waved to the other gifts she had been offered through out the day. “Place it there and no I will not have Eros stop sending the suitors to your door,” Aphrodite said before flopping into a chair.

“I was sent here to ask to be more desirable to men but with that declaration I guess I will have to change my request,” Irene said placing the grapes next to a jug of wine. She had been coming here since she was little, her mother usually by her side asking for this and that, Irene on the other hand would ask for the opposite of what her mother would want of her.

Snorting Aphrodite rolled her eyes before an idea occurred to her. Beckoning to Irene Aphrodite called the girl to come to her. “I have a preposition for you Irene,” She said a sly look in her eyes, “you make this warrior who dares call me a whore fall for you and snub him off as you do with every suitor and I will see to it that my son Eros does not bother you for a year.”

Cautiously Irene thought of the ups and downs of agreeing or disagreeing with the plan before the voice of Aphrodite broke through her thoughts, “I could always have Eros send you even more suitors. Have them coming from all across the land.” Shuddering at the prospects Irene nodded her head agreeing to be part of the goddess’s revenge plan.
“If you will excuse me now Aphrodite I need to go pray to Hermes.”

Leaving the temple of the golden goddess Irene gave greeting to the prostitutes that tended the shine that she ignored on her way in. Weaving her way through the crowds with a nimbleness that put the thieves of the city to shame Irene quickly make her way to another temple, this time dedicated to the messenger god Hermes.

Stopping just out side the temple to catch her breath Irene surveyed the people that surrounded her. Athenians and Argaves conversing about something or other, Megarians and Spartans wandering with Corinthians going about their lives, It was a peaceful scene.
Entertaining the thought that she may just have to visit every temple in the town before the day was done Irene made her way into the temple.

“Oh, great god Hermes I come to give a prayer of thanks for all that you have done for my family and for me. May your protection forever stay with us,” her voice soft Irene was easily drowned out by the others that have come to pray but it did not matter. One of her brothers usually made a trip to this very temple at least once a day and their voices could have carried to the palace on top of mount Olympus, in her opinion that is.

“I am afraid I must be selfish now and ask you for help regarding an unfortunate soul who dare anger a goddess,” Irene bowed her head voice getting even softer, “I have agreed to this goddess to help her get revenge on some warrior that dare scorn her name and need your guidance on a way to do this. Any guidance will be helpful.” Irene waited if she did not get anything from Hermes she would have to travel across town to Athena’s temple.

The satue of hermes was came to life, unlike most others this one was life size not larger then life as others were, such as Zeus or Ares. "Who? You mean the Spartan, Eros?" He asked. He stood leaving his throne and walked over to her. "You asking a means for revenge..without a offering?" He stood with a serious look on his face then began to laugh and adjusted his shades, "Don't worry I'm not into the whole offering deal."

He began hovering a few inches from the ground and flew around her, "Hmm...why not use your own femanit charm...and a little godly help...I'll go and slow him down a bit giving you trime to catch up with him in Gythium....." The satue reappered on the in its throne. A voice filled the empty chambers, "If you need help finding him he'll be wearing my shades..."

Eros was working a steady run to make up fro lost time, time lost because og..."Oh no..." He was back, he looked ahead at Hermes who was waving at him. He made no jesters to him and ran past him. "He is such a bothersum...." Hermes appeared again infront of him.

"I've got a message for you..." Taunted Hermes smiling, "Its from the big man himself..." Lied Hermes. He ulled from his garments a golden scroll, which was blank, not that Eros knew. "Do not continue on your journy make camp here and conitne tomrrow." Hermes put the scroll away, "And as a token for doing this he has cominded me to give you these..." He slowly reached up and took his shades off then handed them over to Eros. "Don't break 'um.....not that you can...."

Eros couuld belive this if he did this it'd put him off by a day maybe more; but even Eros not toy with Zeus. He putthe shades on and sighed. "As he commands. Just do me a favor and tell the head Spartan in Gythium I'll be late..."

Bowing her thanks to the god Irene dashed out of the temple, she had to reach her father before he left. Running through the streets Irene noticed that her father’s caravan was already on the move. Picking up speed she made her way to the lead horse and grabbed its reins.

“I have had orders from the gods. I must go to Gythium.” Irene called out over the protests, holding tight to the frightened horse. The noise continued to get louder until a man reaching the end of his prime stepped before her a hand held in the air to silence the crowd. “What orders do you have?” He spoke softly. “Father, I can not tell you the orders just that they come from the golden goddess Aphrodite and the messenger god Hermes,” Irene had lowered her voice back to its original soft tone, the adrenaline of running fading fast. Irene’s father seemed to take years as he thought of what he was going to do with his quietist child.

“Climb aboard the third wagon, you and your brother can watch over this group while I take the sea,” sighing as if he had just come from a bloody battle Pious continued, “You stop first in Argos, a days ride from here, then you will go to Gythium, a five day trip if the weather stays true. I will meet you at the port in Gythium.” Smiling Irene hugged her father tightly saying a quick thank you before she fled to the third wagon and hopped up next to her brother, Agatone. With all settled the group started to move once more. Her father would be traveling by sea while she on the land.

Laughing Aphrodite was obviously in a good mood. Her revenge was on its way and Hermes had even helped the little brat. Taking a sip of wine Aphrodite relaxed more into the cushions behind and around her. She was at her most favourite place, Cyprus. The priests and priestesses where honouring her with entertainment and plentiful gifts. Everything was going well.
