Well this topic sprung up from a conversation that took place in the introductions topic, where I dared a new member to proove his knowledge of English by supplying the longest word. It was a nightmare we ended up with so many superbly long words that I figured it wouldn't hurt ot make a topic to showcase them.
Most Dictionary writers have as of so far discounted chemical verbal formula as actual English words though they are potentialy greater in length when compared to even these gargantuan words.
Discombobulation:16 letters 'To be confused, embaraced and frustrated.'
Deoxyribonucleic-acid:20 letters 'DNA'
Antidisestablishmentarianism:28 letters ‘Opposition to the withdrawal of state support or recognition from an established church, esp. the Anglican Church in 19th-century England.'
Floccinaucinihilipilification:29 letters 'An act or instance of judging something to be worthless or trivial.'
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious:34 letters ‘A nonsense word meaning fantastic’
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia:36 letters 'The irrational fear of long words'
Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis:45 letters 'A lung disease caused by the inhalation of very fine silica dust'
Osseocarnisanguineoviscericartilaginonervomedullary: 51 letters 'This is a latin based medical word, which translates roughly as 'of bone, flesh, blood, organs, gristle, nerve, and marrow'. Describing the human body in a nutshell. '

This represents the name for human mitochondrial DNA. Don't ask me to count all the letters... It is too painful. If you want to count all the letters, go ahead but I don't have that much time.
