Kiseki almost screamed for joy when she read the text message from Ryu.
"meet me. library"
The girl threw her covers to the side and wobbled onto the floor. She almost tripped over the purple socks she had neglected to put away before going to sleep. She pulled them on, along with a big purple hoodie. Kiseki didn't bother to change her pajama pants. It wasn't cold outside, anyway. Besides, it matched her hoodie. The girl gave herself a look in the mirror, noting her messy short hair and the hood that covered it. Double checking to see if her bedroom door was locked, Kiseki crawled out of her window. Her cell phone was safely stashed away in her pocket. She didn't need anything else. It was the closest thing she had to Ryuchi. The small rabbit charm attached to it jungled in agreement.
As she walked down the street towards the large library, Kiseki smiled happily. It was late at night and the moon was high in the sky.
"The sky isn't blue or navy blue. It's purple!"
The small giel waited at the steps of the darkened library and awaited her Fighter.

Ryuchi saw Kiseki and waved. The boy reached into his back pocket of the red plaid pajamas he wore. He took out his cellphone. It was an old model but it worked efficiently and it held some songs. He scrolled down the list of songs and selected the one he wanted Kiki to listen to. Holding it out so that the both of them could listen, he increased the volume and pressed play.
The beginning of the song was fuzzy and the words couldn't be heard clearly. After a moment or two had passed the song became clear and easy to hear.
If you're even a little uncertain, let's hold hands
Just that will probably make you stronger in everything
If you're always wanting something you're lacking
There's no need to rush, let's search for it together...
Ryuchi lowered the volume and looked at Kiki. "This cell phone is for emergency use." His eyes softened. "If you need anyone to listen to you then just come visit by the grocery store near the park. I could listen to you there." He took her hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
He thought a little bit. "I have time." Looking into the young girl's eyes he saw the moonlight and awaited for her words.

Kiseki waved happily. The hood she wore over her head fell suddenly, and covered her eyes. She giggled, and ran down the stairs. She skipped each odd numbered stair and did a slow twirl as she hit the sidewalk's concrete. Her sneakers were tied, but a piece of the lace dragged on the ground. She ignored it; eyes fixated on her friend.
She closed her eyes while she listened to the song. It was just her and Ryu under the moon...We share a bond greater than love.
"So does that mean you don't like pasta?" she asked, standing on her tip toes to look into his eyes. "I would call you on the cell phone...when I figured out the recipe...for world famous pasta...I couldn't...leave the stove to visit you by the store, silly..."
She giggled. Her sleeves were too long, and covered her hand as she brought it up to her face. "You're pretty sensitive for a drunk. Hehehee!"
(Let Me Be With You from the Chobits soundtrack just started playing. We should totally give characters theme songs! This sounds like Kiki's...-ponders- )

Ryuchi brushed a small strand of hair that appeared on Kiki's face aside. "When it's finished then."
When she mentioned that he was drunk Ryuchi gave her an icy stare. "I'm sober." He inadvertently lifted an arm and felt his ear. After a moment he realized that she was joking and smiled.
The wind started to pick up. Ryuchi's white wifebeater wasn't doing him any justice against the cold air. He smiled at the fact Kiki was staying warm in her hoodie. I'm glad i was her even though-- Shaking the thought from his mind he said,"It's getting late. You should go home. Do you want me to walk you?"

"...Muscle..." she said softly. Kiseki stood on her tip toes and poked at Ryu's bare skin. She struggled not to fall over while she balanced on her toes. Even though she stood like this, Kiseki's head still didn't reach past Ryuchi's shoulders. Either he was really tall, or she was really short. The girl settled on the first one. Five foot one was not short. It was completely average.
"Then how come you don't...call me when you're sobeeeeerrrrr...!" the girl sang the last part loudly in an opera like falsetto. Random people who were walking by blinked at her, and made the good choice to walk a little faster.
"Nooo...my family doesn't know you..." Kiseki sung her body from the left to the right as she said those words. She stopped suddenly, and pivoted on her heel.
And then she took off down the street. Her sneakers were heavy against the concrete.
"Catch me if you can, Ryu!"

Ryu gave a small chuckle as Kiki tried standing on her tip toes and poked him. He put his hands on her waist and slowly lifted her off the ground. "Taller now," he said before putting her back down.
He stared at her while she sang and gave a stern look. "Emergencies only."
He gave a small sigh as the girl ran off and taunted him. This is going to be....easy. Ryuchi started jogging after her and noticed that the flip-flops he wore were going to slow him down. The boy took them off and threw the old things to the side.
He began to run. Easily catching up with Kiki, he slowed down for a moment, reached out and lifted her off the ground spinning around in circles before putting her down. She still has her childhood.
[Theme song? I'll have to find one for Ryuchi.]

Once on the ground, Kiseki pouted. Her hood fell over her eyes once more. Her eyes sparkled with joy, but her mouth creased into a little frown. Turning away from her Fighter once more, Kiki wagged her tail tauntingly. She stomped one foot down on the ground, and the other soon followed.
"I have to go to school and whatever!" she mused. The girl pulled her cell phone out of her pocket. The time read 3:12 A.M. "I haven't fallen to sleep before 2 o' clock since I became Empyrean. I'm Empy, and you're Rean. Together, we're one. Empyrean. Heaven. Hmm...What's your heaven like, Ryu? Mine is like...mine is named Ryuchi." The girl giggled. She dropped her phone into the pocket of her hoodie.
"Which means you don't sleep until I do...and your favorite color is purple."

Ryuchi took a few minutes to soak in what she said. "Heaven...is..you, Kiseki." My Sacrifice. I don't want you to get hurt, but it's inevitable isn't it?
The boy reached out and put his hand on her slender shoulder. He looked worriedly at Kiki. "Why don't you sleep? What's wrong? Restlessness?" Then remembering the time he quickly added, "I have to get ready for work in about 2 hours. I'll walk you home to see that you're going to get some rest. No objections." His voice was firm and steady as he said this.
[That would be a good idea. Having volume three doesn't help much.]

Kiseki pouted and looked up into her Fighter's eyes. Though she never admitted it, she was always worried that he'd stop caring for her and let her die in a battle. Which was quite illogical since no one could die in battle...It didn't even show in her eyes. Kiseki always kept her expressions aloof and childlike. With Ryu around, she never had a reason to grow up. Her childlike feelings never evolved more than they needed to.
"Carry me on your back."
We share a bond stronger than anything physical.
The girl pulled off her big purple hoodie and tied it around her waist. Her thin tank top was all she wore under the hoodie, and it didn't do her any justice. (Except for the fact that it was purple like the rest of her outfit.) It was an odd site, two teens out in front of the Public Library in their pajamas at three in the morning.
"I'll feel cold now, so you have to warm me up. Carry meeee..." the girl sighed with terrible logic clouding her brain. She aimed a fake punch at Ryu's chest, but knew better than to hit him and crack her hand open.

You're a sly one aren't you. He gave Kiki a smirk and his eyes gave a playful look. Giving the girl a noogie he held her by the waist and lifted her. Instead of carrying her on his back Ryuchi carried Kiki in front of him like when a groom carries a bride to a new home.
Kiseki brought out a different side of Ryuchi that most people never get to see. In fact the boy liked her presence around him. I wish I was the Sacrifice so you wouldn't get hurt. He was staring into her eyes...again.
"Where do you live? Show me." He looked up and took in a deep breath. "Y-Are you warm?"

Kiseki wailed happily. She kicked her legs, and threw her head back. There was one lone star in the sky. The city was extremely bright, and blocked out the other stars that didn't shine strong enough. Kiki felt even smaller than she already was as she looked up into the purple haze of early morning light.
"Polaris." She said, pointing straight up into the night sky. The star seemed to sparkle in unison to her words. "I bet it's up in Empyrean." The girl stretched up a hand to touch the top of Ryu's head. It was warm, and his messy blonde hair out of place. Kiseki pouted at how he never cared for his physical appearance when he was pretty decent looking to begin with.
"No ears. You didn't like them? Oh...I live--make a left. Yeah...you should dye that hair violet..."

Looking up he understood what it felt like to be small. The early morning rays were beginning to rise but Ryuchi slowed down his pace. He wanted to hold onto his Sacrifice as long as he could.
"Why are you pouting? Are you not warm?" Ryuchi lifted the girl a little higher so that he was able to arch his neck and nuzzle her up and down her neck. He did this slowly and gently, caressing her incredibly soft skin. He breathe some of his own warm breath onto her skin. Lifting his head he asked, "Was that warm for you?"
"My ears? I did. It was just -- nevermind. A left you said?" Ryuchi made a turn at the corner. "Your ears are nice. I don't want you to lose them yet. So don't, okay?" His tired eyes looked into the girl's searching for the answers.

Kiseki gave a soft little groan - but as soon as she realized, her face turned a bright pink. She kicked her legs around; trying to make it difficult for Ryuchi to hold her too tightly.
"That's not fair!" she squealed. When the girl finally calmed down, she pointed down the street. The buildings were slowly turning into residences, and Kiseki could pick out her own from the bunch.
"I love my ears...when I'm your age...I'll have ears...when I get married and have a little tiny Me...I'll wear fake ears..." Kiseki mused slowly. Sounding like a bit of an airhead was something Kiki did best, but she had enough intelligence to know when to drop a subject.
"House. There!" Kiseki yelped. The lights in her bedroom were on, high up in the second story window. Busted.
