School Drama Characters To make it easy to read I am going to try to color-code the dialogue. Kimi Lee: main character(pretty, smart, quiet)
Megan White: Kimi's best friend, (very popular & very talkative)
Ms. Mesa: Geometry teacher, (known to give out many referrals)
Coach Billings: PE teacher / coach (good-natured, but serious about sports)
Ben Jones: main character, (Class president, introspective, artistic)
Josh Johnson (JJ): Ben's best friend, (Mr. Popularity, all-around-jock, class clown)
Courtney Vaughan: (Josh's date, cheerleader, flirt)

Part 1: 6th Period It was 2:30 PM on the Friday afternoon of the Sweetheart Dance. Kimi was so excited that she was having a hard time sitting still during Geometry. xd She turned and looked behind to whisper to Megan, "I still can't believe he asked ME." She blushed as a dreamy expression covered her face and she sighed. "He better bring you flowers," replied Megan snapping Kimi out of her fantasy. They both giggled softly. 4laugh Ms. Mesa glared at them, rolleyes "We do still have 40 minutes left in THIS class girls. Please try to focus more on math and less on boys." redface Embarassed, Kimi slid down a little in her seat and went back to the proofs. sweatdrop Megan's face reddened slightly and she lowered her head, hiding her face with her long auburn hair.
Across campus, Ben was so distracted during PE that he got hit in the head during a tennis match. stressed "Wake up, before you get hurt warned Coach Billings." "Good thing we aren't playing hard ball joked Josh." rofl "Yeah, but you probably enjoyed that retorted Ben." stare "Maybe just a little snickered Josh. What are best friends for?." lol The boys resumed their match with renewed intensity and Ben asked Josh, "So, what do you think of Kimi?" question "She's too good for you." dramallama chided Josh. "You're gonna pay now! admonished Ben with a forceful backhand." dramallama

Part 2: I'll Pick you up early.
After school Kimi passed Ben in the hallway. He raised his eyebrows and gave her his "what's up" nod. He was often just too cool for words. His smile melted her fascade and she smiled back and asked, "What time are we leaving for the dance?" "Mind if we go a little early?" Ben asked. Surprised at his reply, Kimi scrambled for words. "Ummm. Uh, okay, but like how early? I mean I don't mind. I just don't want to make you wait or anything." "I will pick you up at 5:00, okay?" "But the dance doesn't start untill 7:00?" He laughed his familiar laugh and said, "We're going to dinner first." He raised his eyebrows in a questioning manner. Okay was all Kimi could manage to reply as scenes of rushing to get ready flashed through her head. Just then, Josh ran up and nearly tackled Ben. Ben turned to Kimi, "5'oclock. Be ready." and with that he tore off after Josh.
Kimi shoved her books into her locker and ran to Megan's locker. "Hurry!" she panicked. gonk I have less than two hours to get ready. I'll never be ready on time. stressed Calm down. rolleyes I am hurrying. neutral Besides, do you really thing he'll go to the dance alone if you're not ready on time? dramallama 4laugh 4laugh 4laugh They both giggled at the thought, but only breifly as they hurried towards Megan's car.
After catching up with Josh in the parking lot, Ben said, "I thought you were gonna knock me over." redface Josh laughed, "Someone had to save you from humiliating yourself by saying something stupid like, Ooooh you are so pretty. dramallama Why would you ever go to the dance with a troll like myself. dramallama Will you marry me?" rofl rofl Ben slugged Josh in the shoulder, "Shut up. I'm not a moron like you. xp At least I asked someone." rolleyes "Whatever. redface Courtney asked me before I had a chance. sweatdrop You mean before you had the guts. rofl Shut up and drive or we are both gonna be late. stressed They left the parking lot in Ben's Camaro and headed to the car wash to hurry and get the car ready for their dates.

Part 3: Dressing for the Dance
Ben dropped Josh off after the car was spotless. He was a little nutty when it came to his baby umm car. dramallama "She always runs better when she's clean. Don'tcha girl?" Ben asked, patting the newly polished dashboard as he pulled into Josh's driveway. Josh 3nodding nodded in agreeance and asked, "What time do we leave?" "I'll be back about a quarter 'till five. That should be enough time to pick up Kimi. Courtney's dad is bringing her, right?" "I hope so." laughed Josh nervously. Since Courtney lived ten miles out of town, her father had agreed to drop her off at the dance to save the kids time after school and probably to check that there were actually chapperones there. sweatdrop "At least you don't have to meet the parents this way." wink confirmed Ben. talk2hand He backed out slowly, careful to avoid the mailbox and waved to Josh's mom. redface When he first started driving, he had annilated the Johnson's mailbox. stressed It still stirred up a painfully embarassing memory every time he saw it. redface

Kimi was rushing to blow dry her thick dark hair. Her mom was laying out her makeup and stockings. She quickly turned off the dryer and said "Please get my shoes and purse too Mom." Click the dryer was back on, drowning out all of the comforting words that Kimi's mom was saying to try to calm her. talk2hand Kimi had wasted 35 precious minutes at the hairdresser's. gonk Sylvia had plastered her hair up and she had to wash it out. stressed Her mom had tried not to say anything to upset her daughter more. Finally, Kimi's hair was styled in exactly the same manner that she wore it every day. Even her mom had to admit that it looked better this way. 3nodding Finally, she put her earrings and necklace on and zipped up the pink taffeta gown. Kimi desended the staircase and her mom wept with a mix of emotions at how lovely her daughter looked. heart Her father entered the room with his camera clicking.

Courtney's dad had come by the dance early in order to have a few words with the principal and scope out the scene. question Satisfied, he then drove Courtney to Cafe Cheris and reminded Courtney that she could reach him on his cell phone at any moment. Although she was a good student, Courtney had been caught drinking during the summer cheese_whine and he had a hard time trusting her. sweatdrop He made her promise not to drink and to be home by 1:00 AM. stare ninja As he complemented her on her stunning satin gown he could feel his stomach knot up. That was not something that happened to the stoic businessman very often. sweatdrop Courtney sat on the velvety chair, and dreamed about the dance. She was one of the nominees for Queen of the Sweetheart Dance and as head cheerleader and one of the most popular girls in school she expected to win the title. xd Continuing to dream, she stared out the window of the elegant restrant awaiting the other three that were "double-dating" that evening.

Megan wished that Kimi and Ben could have double-dated with her and Tad. The two girls had hardly ever been apart since third grade. Just then her doorbell rang: her date was here! xd

Part 4: Cafe Cheris Seated at a table for four near the back of the restraunt, the nervous teens sat and nibbled on appetizers. Everyone seemed to be waiting to see who would break the awkward silence. Finally the girls began to make small talk. They both commented on the lovely atmosphere at Cafe Cheris. It was an upscale French bistro type restraunt where the chef served different specialties daily. To come here on a date meant something and everyone at the table knew it. wink "Wow! This place is so nice. I haven't been here in a long time." commented Courtney. "My cousin knows the chef blurted out Josh." Ben and Kimi laughed and Ben frowned. "What? confused He does." Ben moved to kick Josh under the table, and gave him a glance that could only mean be quiet. The girls giggled softly. Josh was instantly aware that he had been talking too loudly. redface "Sorry, was I too lound?" he asked apologeticaly as everyone giggled and nodded sympathetically. "It is a lovely restraunt Ben. Thank you."As the soup arrived, talk turned to the upcomming scholastic debate. Are you nervous? I mean about the debate? Kimi asked Ben. "A little." modestly admitted Ben, who was the smartest in their class. "It's in the bag! Josh interjected while slapping Ben on the shoulder. My man, Ben is smartest. Those doofs from Olympia are gonna take notes." 4laugh 4laugh Everyone soon forgot about their nervousness as talk of school rivarly instantly created a bond between them. The main courses were soon served by the waiter in his crisp white uniform, reminding Ben of how messy Josh could be at times. sweatdrop As the girls daintily picked at their pasta, the guys tried to remember their manners. sweatdrop Ben had warned Josh beforehand, that he had better remember to use his napkin and chew with his mouth closed. dramallama So far, Josh had remembered his promise. 4laugh Have you guys heard of the band? Courtney asked. "They played at my cousin's wedding responded Josh." "My, you have a lot of cousins." teased Courtney. 4laugh 4laugh "Ha! She's gonna keep you on your toes tonite." Ben warned Josh. "That is IF you can stay off hers." lol lol With that, they all laughed. lol lol Dessert arrived and as if on cue, Josh and Ben both checked their watches. After a couple of small bites and the protest that they couldn't possibly eat any more, the girls went to the restroom to powder their noses and reapply lip gloss. While they were gone, the guys paid the bill and left the tip on the table. The boys were both standing near the table waiting when the girls returned. "Ready? asked Ben."Everyone nodded and both girls thanked their dates for the meal.

Part 5: At the Dance
Ben and Kimi at the dance

Megan and her date at the dance
Megan arrived at the dance, elegantly dressed in white chiffon and escorted by a mysterious, but really cute guy that was not from their school. wink
The chapperones By the time the foresome arrived at the dance, nearly everyone was already there. They posed for pictures and then found their assigned tables. Ben and Josh went to the buffet table to get drinks for everyone. surprised Courtney asked Kimi, "Who is that guy with Megan? He is not from here." "His name is Chad, and he goes to the university." 3nodding "Oooh, an older man, huh?" remarked Courtney with a twinge of jealousy. stare As soon as the guys returned with the drinks, Ben coyly remarked, "Those are for how thirsty we're gonna be after all this dancing." wink With that he swept Kimi off to the dance floor. Following Ben's lead Josh stood up and said, "Let's show them how to dance." dramallama They danced non-stop for the first five songs sweatdrop and then retreated to their table for a break. The final call for all votes for King and Queen of the Sweetheart Dance was announced and everyone tensed up. Courtney asked Josh, "So, who'd you vote for?" "You, duh! answered Josh." rolleyes "Good." declared Courtney. Then realizing how childish she must sound, she quickly added, "I am sorry Kimi, I know you want Meg to win."It's okay, I know everone wants to win admitted Kimi sweetly." "It will soon be over blurted out Josh." Just then, as if on cue, the announcer called for attention. "First of all, I would like to call our Sweetheart Court to the stage. All six of these couples are fine, outstanding....."droned the announcer. Then he read off the names of the 1st runner up couple: the Prince and Princess of the Sweetheart dance... " TJ Grant and Courtney Vaughan." sweatdrop Ben, Josh, and Kimi sat and whispered quietly at the table. The announcer waited for the flowers and tiara to be presented. Then he declared, "-And the the student body has chosen, for the King and Queen of the 2007 Sweetheart Dance...(dramatic pause) ...Brad Benson and Megan White!" xd Everone cheered and Megan wept a tear of happiness as she was crowned Queen. xd Overjoyed, Kimi hugged Ben. smile Just then, Josh realized that the evening was about to change. surprised The announcer instructed the King and Queen to begin the dance and then the court followed. The kids from the Publications Class quickly snapped photo after photo of the dancing royalty. Soon everyone was back with their dates. Josh and the others tried to congratulate Courtney but she was obviously upset. sweatdrop redface Ben asked Kimi if she wanted to dance just to escape and allow Courtney and Josh some time alone. As the were dancing Ben said, "I feel sorry for Courtney. She really wanted to win." "I feel sorry for Josh" admitted Kimi, "because he has a drama queen on his hands." lol lol lol Back at the table, Josh and Courtney were standing. talk2hand Josh motioned to Ben, and Ben said to Kimi, "I'll be right back. Meet me at Meg's table." ninja Ben walked over to Josh who whisped something about needing to leave. Courtney was holding back tears sad so Ben just waved. "Court's dad said he can drop me off, so you stay and enjoy the dance." Okay, see ya. was all that Ben could think of to say. redface Back at the King and Queen's table everyone was in a very different mood. They were all trying on the crowns and sipping sparkling cider and congratulating the Winners. xd Is Courtney okay? Megan asked Kimi. I don't know. Here comes Ben. Ben made excuses for Josh and Courtney so as not to dampen the mood and soon everyone was dancing again. Ben, Kimi, Chad, and Megan danced untill the final dance. They said their good-byes and Ben drove Kimi home. He stopped the car and walked her to her door. They stood there awkwardly, commenting on the dance and poor Courtney. Kimi wondered if Ben would ever kiss her. Ben wondered if Kimi wanted him to kiss her. Finally, he said, "Look!" and pointed towards the street. When Kimi turned he kissed her cheek quickly. whee redface They both giggled and starred silently into each other's eyes for a breif moment. ninja Kimi blushed redface and turned to enter her house, then she paused and smiled and Ben. xd "Call me she whispered." barely able to breathe. xd

That just gives me an idea of a new name. I'm tired of Kagome and everybody thinks that I'm 15!!
I'm not 15!! How old? Older than you, brat!! -stares down a 13 y.o. no0b-
I'm old enough to drive, drink & smoke. I do the 1st one = driving. I gave up on drinking & smokin? Nah.. Not my kind of stew. I hate the smel and besides, I love my lungs!!
