Setting:
This is the world of Malidor, a two continent world trapped in a renaissance period. Currently, three major kingdoms have been established throughout the lands: The Kingdom of Rauz, The Kingdom of Leiru, and The Kingdom of Mabuwa. The Rauz family, a noble linage of humans, have brought forth their peaceful ruling in the icy mountains of northern Kuduwar, the eastern continent. The Leiru family, the unstable nobles of the dragonkin, have developed a massive city in the southern tropics of Almeza, the western continent. The family of Mabuwa, a noble linage of wild elves that have been in power since the dawn of time, have built their city in the deserts of middle-Almeza. These are the cities of the three major powers, and as such, have officially been labeled the capitals of their ruling race. It goes that Kuduwar is the continent of ice while Alemza is the continent of fire, but there are climate changes on each continent.
On Kuduwar, ice and mountains rule the north and much of the middle area. A massive river, running south east through the continent, practically separates it in two; this river is known as The River of Macabre. After the Scourge’s War, a war between the undead and the humans, many bodies were dumped in the river, causing it to turn blood-red. It is said that fragments of the bodies still creep down the river, and that the river still runs red upon nightfall. The area south of the river is known as the Lower Wilds, only because it has yet to be explored. The undead have been rumored to still live here, and they probably do, but they have yet to show themselves since the Scourge’s War. Plains and wetlands sketch the outermost areas of Kuduwar, their only purpose seemingly to block travelers and adventurers as they quest. Port cities are frequent sights near the Kingdom of Rauz; since they have barely any farming lands, they import many crops and spices from the other continent. Their main export is gold and jewels from the mines in the mountains.
On Almeza, there is mainly desert to the north and tropics to the south. The middle-point, where the Kingdom of Mabuwa sits, is guarded solidly by mountains to the east and two rivers, one south and one north. These rivers are also known as the Keeru-tai, which is wild elvish for "The Twin Goddess' Rivers". These rivers supply the wild elves with the ability to irrigate their land, making it great, fertile farming land. The rivers only flood two times a year; during this time, the land becomes overrun with water. Although any crops planted would suffer, once the water has been absorbed, it becomes fertile. This expands the wild elves' farming land quite a bit, but only for a season; then they must return to irrigating the land. This is known as the Season of Flooding, or the Filuda. South of the Kingdom of Mabuwa are the tropics. This is a fairly uninhabited area, save for the dragonkin of the Kingdom of Leiru. Their massive city stretches across the entire southern tip, but most dragonkin stay within the main walls of their Kingdom. The dragonkin mainly export lumber, but they have been known to sell off exotic creatures and a variety of mining ores. Off the southern tip lies 6 islands, often called the Draevuk Isle. It is said that a tribal sub-species of orcs and a few trolls live on these islands, but none have been brave enough to find out themselves. As for northern Almeza...well, tis another story. A variety of people state that they've traveled through the mountains and forests of the north and found clans of rouges as wells as mystical beasts unheard of by anyone "normal". Packs of chimeras and manticores, as wells as massive wyverns have been reported through this area, but it's all unofficial.
Get The Low-Down!:
Ha, you thought this was a short cut? Nah, you gotta read everything above. I'll just go into detail about the races of Malidor, as well as classes and government, etc.
Races:
- Wild Elves: A type of elf that ranges from 5'7 to 6'3 (males often taller) and usually have bronze skin and orange-red hair. Markings, piercing, and heavy armor are often things to find on wild elves. They are loud, obnoxious, rude, blood-lusting, and overall brutish. (Mainly a warrior/melee class).
- Moon Elves: Practically the opposite of wild elves. Their heights ranges are the same, but they have pale skin and dark hair colors. Only markings on the face are allowed with the moon elves. They are often of the mage class, which means they wear very light armor. Usually they are quiet, isolated, snooty, and basically the essence of sophistication. (Mainly a magic class).
- Humans: The universal being. He is good at practically everything. They have a wide variety of hair colors and skin colors. They may have anything of the typical human standards (no wings, horns, or tails unless he is a half-demon). They have no set personality, although most seem to think they're the superior race. They have a specially in swords, but also can have magical talents at birth. (Multi-classing available, no set class).
- Gnomes: A small humanoid, usually averaging 3 feet in height. They are extremely fast and intelligent. They have pale skin colors, but often have unusual hair colors. Engineering is a specialty, but they lack in heavy melee combat. They're rather nice people, but can be rude at times. Most are willing to help out, and some can be quite gullible. (Mainly rouge and magic classes).
- Dwarves: Similar to the Gnomes in height. They are excellent miners, and great at melee combat. They often have darker skin colors and orange or grey hair colors. A long beard compliments most men, and long hair compliments the women naturally. They can be rather daft at times, but their friendship is a loyal one. They can be very religious if they're a Cleric. (Mainly melee or cleric).
- Orcs: A brutal race of blood-lusting, green humanoids. They usually have no thought but that to kill; they have been known to raid human and elvish encampments randomly. Their heads are bare of any hair and their skin is in different shades of green. With a bulky frame and a lust for power and blood, these guys are the perfect war machines. (Melee class only)
- Trolls: A shamanistic race of tall, lanky, blue humanoids. Like the orcs, they have a lust for blood, but it can be tamed over the years. They are a humorous bunch, but when things get serious, so can they. Their hatred for humans is so great that they've taken out many small towns of humans. Many have allied themselves with the orcs in an attempt to unify, but it has not come to be yet. (Mainly magic or melee class)
- Undead: Very little is known about the undead. They apparently live south of the Macabre River, in the Lower Wilds, but it is only a rumor. They usually have deteriorating skin, broken bones, bloodstained cloth, and a variety of gruesome gashes. They are the resurrected one, often known as the Forsaken. Their bitter outlook on life can leave a person feeling like they should die; despite this, they've been known to crack a good joke or two (although usually a grotesque one). (Mainly a melee or magic class)
- Minotaurs: A peaceful group of bull-like people that roam the plains on the outermost areas of Kuduwar. They have established many encampments in their area, but no official cities. Ranging from 7 to 8 feet and holding up a massive frame, these creatures can look intimidating, but they are usually good-hearted. They are mostly quiet and isolated from most races, but humans have been known to interact with them. (Mainly a magic class)
- Dragonkin: The fabled human-dragon hybrid. They have various heights, like their human counterparts, but usually only red or green scaled skin. Wings and horns are predominant features, as well as a tail and claw-like hands and feet. They are a beautiful race, but uphold brutal laws. Being so strict with themselves, one would think they could establish a decent city, but only havoc has come from their cities. They are deeply involved in magical practices. (Mainly a magic class)
- Animalkin: Human-animal hybrids. (I'm feeling lazy...be creative).
- Demons: From the depths of the Netherworld, demons are born. They escape to the real world through rips and tears, so by being summoned. Their appearance can vary; usually most look like humans with horns. That is their predominant feature, and it can not be hidden. They have a mischievous personality, and lust for causing havoc and chaos. Many have mated with humans to create human-demon hybrids. These are unfortunate creatures; never fully accepted by humans, never fully accepted by demons. They don't even gain any demonic powers, save for the boost of magic from their demon horns and the normal demon's long lifespan. Their powers are limited, as well as where they can leave to. Many have been captured and sold into slavery or bribed into servitude (it's very hard for human-demon hybrid to get a job). There are hardly any who exist for more than a 1000 years. (Demons are a Warlock or Rouge-specific class, human-demon hybrids are allowed any class but Knight).
Classes:
- Warrior: Sling swords. Use heavy armor. Kill stuff. =)
- Barbarian: Like...whoa...too many steroids? Get outta my way, Hulkimania. You and your massive axe can go have a moment somewhere else.
- Knight: You're like...an advanced warrior. Except...like...more royal. Congrats.
- Paladin: You're Holy-based. Basically a warrior...just more friendly...and holy.
- Hunter: Get a beast. Get some arrows. Get a sword. Go kill stuff. Medium armor until you get all skilled and crap. Then you can wear heavy stuff.
- Rouge: Silent...but deadly. What are you, a fart? talk2hand Anyways, go stealthily kill someone and take their loot. Trick people. Ya know, ya know.
- Cleric: The healing b***h. Don't deny! You visit temples and church, pray, then go heal some warrior.
- Mage: Fire and water, lightning and air...and other elements. Get your magic stick and start casting.
- Warlock: Raise some demons! Comand your legion of crazed demony-demons...with a stick. Or hand. Or orb. Or something. You get the idea.
- Necromancer: Raise the dead and...uh...get glowing green eyes. Yup.
- Monk: Go shave your head, you kung-fu dorkfish.
- Shaman: Get high, imagine seeing some elemental spirit, talking to it, and go quest around for your magic shaman stick. Good luck, you sad little stoned guy.
- Druid: Transform into an animal. Treat nature with respect. Talking to trees. Secretly molest them too...like you'd normally do. Tree-hugger.
AHAHAHAHA! I'M DONE!
Here's the map of the world: WORLD MAP!!!. 3nodding Anyways, onto my first post. If you wanna know my character, go to my most recent journal and read up.
Morning Rising
The sun rose with its usual magnificent beauty, a beauty so bright, it could rival the aura of the Goddess of Light, Heerune. The sunlight gradually appeared over a nearby town, awakening it's inhabitants one by one. The light crawled through the window of a certain traveling wild elf's inn room, softly placing it's warm, bright hands over her body. Piercing greens eyes flew open, a confused head rising instantly from a blue pillow, tangled orange hair curling over bronzed shoulders and a slender backside. The female gave a dark glare towards the sun, not at all pleased with its rude interjection between her dreams. She stretched and yawned, afterwards yanking on her hunting gear and fixing up her hair a bit. Walking down from her upper room, the wild elf looked over the main room, hoping to see the owner of the building. "Must still be asleep...well, I can't expect humans to rise at the sight of the sun." She thought to herself quietly, chuckling as she made her way to the kitchen.
She rummaged through cabinets and doors, but her efforts were futile; nothing decent to eat was at her disposal. Huffing in anger, she made her way to the door. Just before leaving, she heard a voice call out to her: "Mrs. Yeva! Wait!" She cocked her head to one side, examining a young and very rushed-dressed man with damp hair. "Yes?" She responded, a snooty undertone latching itself onto her words. The man smirked and slicked his hair back, going on to speak to her. "Suave...haha". She merely tuned him out, green eyes glancing around the inn. "So, it comes down to your payment...you've been here for nearly a week. When are you going to pay?" The huntress eyed the innkeeper, locking contact with him for quite a while. It seemed ages before her response, but it eventually came. "I'll pay when I want." Such a biting and dominant comment was practically unheard of, specially in a time when women were not so highly respected. Well, for humans anyways.
At first anger crossed the man’s face, but after noting Yeva's grip on the b*****d sword* at her side, he nervously nodded and went off back to his room. She cackled and kicked open the front entrance, making her grand exit to the town. Dominance was what wild elves were centered around, even the women. In her clan, both genders were equal, which is why she would be the heir to the throne of her clan, and not her younger brother. "Now, what to do on such a fine morning?" She said to herself loudly, a smirk playing vibrantly on her lips.
*b*****d Sword: Ok, no, this isn't a bad-word sword. It's pronounced "buh-stard". It's a foreign sword used a lot in med-fan rps. Get it? Got it? Good.
