Yeah, so I thought about making this thread because I see a lot of people in this guild that are also members of Gaian Atheists United, which is a guild I'm a moderator for. If this topic is inappropriate, then feel free to delete it. sweatdrop
Well, anyways, I'm curious about the religious beliefs of the average person with AS.

Hurrah for the GAU!
I'm a weak atheist, myself, though with a lot of Christian philosophy behind it.

My beliefs are a mix of Pagan (notably Shaman), Hindu, and (some) Buddhist beliefs.
I believe Jesus Christ existed as an excellent philosopher who taught kindness, love, and respect for one's fellow people. I do not believe he was a deity of any sort, though.
I consider myself agnostic because I do not believe I am absolutely correct (I only theorise, and acknowledge others' ways of seeing the world as equally as valid as my own), and see organized religion as (generally) bad.

I do like your respect towards Jesus, Miss Sunflower. I think that is what people should try to view Jesus as if he isn't considered a deity.
Yes, I am a Christian, but as a philosopher, I am open and not easily offended by other beliefs.
I also mourn for your kind of people killed during the Middle Ages and the Crusades. It was a tragedy on a global scale that eeriely is similar to what the US is facing with Islamic terrorists. Both kill people in the name of God.

Secular Humanist Deist is probably what I'd best fall under. I think that the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, Buddha, and all those guys provides a good guideline of how to live, but I know that a bunch of those teachings have to be taken in context.

Both kill people in the name of God.What I do not like are people who claim to follow specific deities (or philosophers), yet ignore the most important aspect that all world religions and philosophies teach: peace and respect towards your fellow man. I'm talking about the kind of people who bomb abortion clinics and protest "AIDS Kills Fags!" at people's funerals. I also do not like people who have no respect for others' beliefs. I was also very angry when I heard about the nuns who offered food and clothes to a Hindu village who'd been affected by the Tsunami, and just packed up and drove away when the people said they wouldn't convert to Christianity. What "kind of person" would you consider me?

The closest thing I would be considered would be an Agnostic Satanist. I don't know if gods or certain gods exists and I don't know if it's possible or impossible to know or prove their existance. Since I don't know, I'm not really settling my hopes and beliefs onto anything; my mind of logic won't let me.
As for being a Satanist, I was Laveyan at first, but I found the philosophy for Theistic Satanists was a bit better, even for both having similar philosophies. They believed more in the art of thinking deeply and clearly with independent thought and do not need to embrace any one particular ideology unlike, more so, than LaVeyan. They believe they need a coherent understanding of whatever they do believe and why they believe it. Their philosophy matches my way of thinking.

Eh.... I really don't have any sort of religion.... I don't care for anything mainstream (but I have close friends who are Christian, and a friend of mine and his younger sister who are Jewish) but really, I don't really have one, I'm not really trying to think about it so much.
But really, I don't hurt others for their beliefs, I just don't like Christianity because of what they say about those who don't believe in Jesus not going to Heaven....
And I have many friends who don't believe in Him.... I don't want them being damned....
I was once Christian, and this is what they taught me....

I know many Christians who do not believe this, even some of the more "strict" ones.
