http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1590444,00.html
WAY too long to post so i'll summarize if there is a problem reading it:
Crisis Pregnancy centers popping up. Helping people, however controversy is they are feeding false information to people (Like blatantly, massively false). Conflicting opinions.
Reading the article in its entirety is much better. I think this is the first Abortion-related cover story Time has seen in years.
Thoughts?

The part near the end about how both sides came together and really tried to do something to make a difference, that really made me happy. That kind of thing should happen more often.

lying is bad, but so is abortion... i think they shouldn't lie, but use more powerful methods of persuasion. not sure if these are the same types of ceters, but i've heard of ones that basically throw bibles at you until you submit.
they should tell facts, like that there are 1.4 million abotions per year, %5 of which are for rape. they should go over the formation of the fetus and mention "by this point, your child has a heartbeat and defined fingers" and the likes.

12 times higher? Releife? Hmmm...i guess many abortion advocates dont consider the long run. Many woman who feel releife after an abortion WILL later in life feel remorse, guilt, and regret.
Birth is 12 times higher a risk then abortion? Are they still bassing this off the number of deaths by abortion to the number of deaths by carrying to term? Well, sinc emore woman in this country carry to term then abort, I'd have to say, yeah, birth is gogin to look more dangerous. I'd be willing to accept that there may be more of an immidiat and colateral risk of birth then abortion, but 12 times?
I believe Miranda once said that you cant base a statistic off of comparing one end total to another, as the entire amount of each may differ.

stare OK, ignoring the debate on statistics for a moment, what does anyone else think about the coming together of sides near the end? Assuming you made it that far.

at least those "nuts" are doing something about the most hideous human rights violation in human history. Most of them do it quite well in fact, it's just the media likes to take a few extreme examples and say that applies to all pro-lifers. I'm more appalled by the LACK of information and deceit i constantly hear about abortion clinics. For a movement that calls it's self (deceptively) pro choice, they sure to sweep a lot of the information it takes to make an informed, intelligent decision under the carpet.
and La Veuve Zin, i think by lifesaving she meant 'convenient'. And to hear those bastards at planned parenthood talk about playing games with lives just turns my stomach considering how much they profit off murdering other human beings.

XD Though a statistic would be based on the amount of deaths vs. the amount of people alive thus it shouldn't vary as much. Unless they're grouping the carrying to term women and the women who have abortions together and then getting the statistics from there.
That aside it probably also doesn't take into account that your pregnant for almost 10 months, so of course your chances of dying are higher, there's a longer time period in which you can die.
Plus one of the things that they seem to count a lot is the fact that pregnant women are more likely to be killed by their spouse. Because they don't seem to grasp that correlation =/= causation.

La Veuve Zin Scribblemouse Do you want such an important decision to be swayed by the nuts in those kinds of centres? God no. Those Planned Parenthood employees can be ruthless! xd Pretty much I agree with what everyone else was saying. These articles look at one radical end of Crisis Pregnancy Centers, just as they look at the opposite radical ends of abortion clinics, and Planned Parenthood clinics. Yes, there are some good and decent PP and abortion clinics, that give the Pro-Choice version of the facts, and offering alternatives. And there are also PP and abortion clinics that will help rapists get away with it, because surely the 12 year old knows what she's doing and loves the 20 year old, and they just don't want the parents to get wind of it. On the flip side, there are Crisis Pregnancy Centers that will give bad information, and do everything they semi-legally can to keep you from getting an abortion. But on the other hand, there are Crisis Pregnancy Centers who tell you the truth, give you the Pro-Life version of the facts, and do everything within their power to keep you from getting an abortion, but doing it with morals. In general, most clinics of either side are going to be leaning towards the good side, most likely. That doesn't mean the bad clinics don't happen, of course they do, but both sides overstate the bad clinics, and understate the good clinics. Pro-Choicers tend to make CPCs look like Bible thumper-run places where they are going to hold you down and force you to watch The Silent Scream until you agree not to have an abortion, and Pro-Lifers are going to tend to make abortion clinics sound like places of evil where they kill people. Oh wait. But seriously, Pro-Lifers are going to make it sound like abortion centers are places where they are going to lie to you, and trick you into agreeing to have an abortion, and then once you've agreed they're going to hold you down and force the abortion upon you whether you change your mind or not. And there are going to be places like that. Personally, I think the bad side is going to be more common in abortion clinics, because they have something to gain by getting you to have an abortion. I will be the first to admit that this could quite possibly be Pro-Life bias, and I'm fine with that. But there's also the fact that the bad version of an abortion clinic is much, much worse than the bad version of a CPC, seeing as the bad CPC is going to lie to you, boo-hoo, but the bad abortion clinic is going to A) Charge you for an abortion of a pregnancy that isn't actually there, B) Give you the abortion even when you change your mind because your boyfriend paid for it, and he says you're having the abortion and/or C) Allow the rapist to force his victim to have an abortion so her parents don't find out.

Plus one of the things that they seem to count a lot is the fact that pregnant women are more likely to be killed by their spouse. Because they don't seem to grasp that correlation =/= causation. This is interesting. See what I found on this here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maternal_deathAccording to the World Health Organization, whether you die because of an abortion or because of complications experienced during labor, it still falls underneath the same statistics. So, a pregnant woman is still faced with death REGARDLESS and medically that causation is grouped the same. Also: Pregnancy in the 20th century has taken massive leaps. If you read that article it states it has become 99% more healthy and that 1 in 10,000 pregnancies will end fatally. This puts a more tangible number onto the scenario, as opposed to "TWELVES TIMES MORE DANGEROUS!" The more you know.
