The sun shone just so slightly through the clouds. A flock of Wingull flew through the sky. It was perfect. Now where is that damn PokeMart? A boy of about Sixteen slouched forward, dragging himself through the Diamond City streets. Pasersby just looked at him an shook their heads, walking off. I passed this building already, didn't I? Sighing, he stood up straight, tucking his hands behind his head.

He was tall for his age, around 6'2". Although he weighed a lot, it didn't show. Most of it was compacted into muscle beneath his black sleeveless undershirt and baggy violet jeans. Over his shirt, though, was a loose fitting grey jacket with three black buttons on the front. His hair was wild and unruly, black as night. A dusty-grey tinge spotted it, though, giving it one of those 'I'm cool, yeah,' looks. The boy didn't mind, though. It was his eyes that grabbed attention.

He had dark grey eyes that could pierce one's heart with a single glance. They were forboding, but inviting. Like combining hatred and joy in one. They comflicted with his dark tan sin, dirty with days without showering. Despite this, he was a handsome fellow.

Then he spotted the blue-tiled building up to his left. It was two stories, it seemed. Most likely the top floor was for specials, though. Which were held often in the massive city. The boy stepped inside, invited by a cold gust of wind. He shivered a bit, then turned down one of the isles. His long-fingered hands closed around a few Pokeballs and a map. Then he went down another isles, picking up a small bag of Pokemon food.

When he stepped up to the counter, eh was told Pokemon food and maps were free, but limited. So he nodded, payed, and left. Once outside, he put the food and Pokeball in his satchel. Opening the map, he stared. I'll go to this Sundale City. Maybe I can chill at the Safari Zone. Nodding to himself, he turned south and began walking to the city's edge.

"Shoot. Poli, use Bubble once more," the boy said, flustered as the bird came from the Pokeball. The bird, seemingly to be called Taillow, took the attack. Third time was the charm, as it flicked it's wings before slamming into Poli's body. The little Pokemon shook itself, and stood up. "One more try. Bubble!" The bird looked injured this time, shaking off the attack as it pecked the ground.

The boy grabbed another Pokeball, and threw it. Let's hope this one works. Taillow went inside the ball in a red flash. It began wobbling instantly as the boy waited. Even a few people passing by stopped to watch.

It was raining, making the day even worse. Kai had never been so nervous in his life. After his brothers accident he has been terrified of pokemon, normally going out of his way to avoid them, and now today he was actually going to go get his starter pokemon. What am I doing? i cant do this, i cant!! no...I need to do this. For my brother, I have to make him proud! Kai pulled himself together as he reached the poke lab. "here we go!" He reached the door and walked in. "um...Excuse me?"

"You must be Kai, come with me! Now you will be given the option of Torchic, Mudkip, and Treeko, we will let them all out and you can choose which one you want." They reached a room with three pokeballs sitting on a table. One by one, the professor let the pokemon out of their balls. "Tooooorchic!!" Torchic dove forward landing on Kai, rubbing its head on kai's shoulder. "waaah get it off get it off!!!" Kai jumped up and ran behind the professor.

"right....i guess not that one...well then how about mudkip?" Mudkip came up and sat there, stairing at Kai. "Mudkip!" it finally chirped after a few moments of silence. "well..this one isnt...to bad..." Kai said as he came out from behind the professor. "Kip!" the pokemon chirped, standing up excited. "aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!" Kai jumped back behind the professor.

"*sigh* well..this is the last one, last chance..." Treeko never walked up, instead, it climbed up into the window and sat there looking out. Slowly Kai creeped out from behind the professor. that one doesnt seem so bad, it doesnt seem like it will attack me... "um...I think ill take that one...." he lifted his hand and pointed towards the window. "Ko?" The pokemon said, not even taking the time to look at its new trainer.

The professor rolled his eyes. "alright, treeko return!" The pokemon was sent back to its ball and handed to Kai. "Alright, Here is your pokemon, and a little pokemon food. This particular pokemon seems to have some trouble getting motivated, good luck, haha!" and with that Kai got his first pokemon.

Heading out Kai walked down the sidwalk looking at his pokeball. Once out of site of the lab, the ball opened up and out came treeko. It looked back at Kai for a moment then sprinted off, towards downtown.

Kai sat down and waited for his pokemon to be healed. While he waited another trainer got a few pokeballs back. throwing one, a yellow pokemon came out, holding a spoon. "Ready?" The pokemon nodded and then suddenly both of them dissappeared.

"Whoah what was that?!?" Kai exclaimed shocked that they were able to just dissappear like that. About that time, a older woman sat down giggling. "That young man was a kadabra, and it just used its teleport ability to teleport itself and its trainer to some other place! Interesting isnt it?" Kai thought for a second. If i had a pokemon that could do that..then i could just run away if i ever got to scared! He looked at the lady and spoke. "So..uh...where could i catch one of those?"

"Haha well lad, none around these parts, although...there are some pre evolved forms of it called Abra just north of here In Black Burry Fields but it will be very hard to catch one, they normally flee as soon as they see you!" After that she got up and left. Kai waited a little longer till Nurse Joy brought his treecko out.

Kai was rather excited. "Alright treecko, we are going to get another pokemon for our team! now return!" as the beam went towards Treecko, it moved out of the way. It gave a look to kai that told him it didnt want to be in the ball. "*sigh* Alright, lets go!" It didnt acknowledge him, just walked beside him.

They made their way to the pokemart where Kai bought 5 pokeballs. ( - 1000y ) From their they headed north to Black Burry fields. Kai saw a few different pokemon around, most of which he ran away from. It took him about half a day before he finally found one.

The Abra popped back out of the ball and teleported away. "Dang it! Maybe i should just give up..." Just then Treecko came up and bopped Kai in the head as it Glaired at him. "You want to keep going....oh..okay, I guess we can try again..." They pitched up a tent and rested the rest of the night, and the next day they were back at it, finally finding one napping under a tree. This time, Kai just ran up and threw the ball, hoping to catch it.

"Remember, Confidence! Totadile, use Tackle on Treecko!" The happy little pokemon Charged forward slamming into Treecko and knocking it into a near by tree.

"treecko! um...use ....slam?" The pokemon ignored its commands and instead used leer.

"Hah, there is no way your going to win like that!" he chuckled then gave his next command. "Totadile, use Watergun!!!" The gator pokemon opened its mouth and shot out a beam of water towards Treecko.

Treecko Jumped to the side, getting knicked by it causing it to spin around.
"Um...use pound treecko.." Treecko began to use Leer again when Kai got angry. Forgetting about his fear he yelled out, "No! Treecko use Pound!!!!" The tiny pokemon's eyes widened And then it actually did what its trainer said. It charged forward Swinging around and slamming its tail into Totadile's side, sending it flying.

"Hah! thats better! now Totadile, Use Bite!!" The pokemon jumped up, shaking its head. It charged forward opening its mouth prepairing to bite.

Before the attack could finish, Kai cried out, "Dodge, then use pound!" Treecko Had the advantage as far as speed goes, It jumped to the side then brought its tail around slamming it hard into Totadiles head. The Water Pokemon layed there on the ground, unable to continue fighting.

"Nice work Totadile! take a rest!" Cris returned his water Pokemon and sent out his Pidgey. "Pidgey, use gust!" The bird pokemon flapped its wings and a gust of wind shot out, knocking Treecko against a tree, knocking it unconcious.

"Treecko! ....Good work, return!" Kai put Treecko back in its ball. "Abra...use teleport? oh man, i dont know what moves an Abra can do!" The fox pokemon dissappeared and reappearded in a tree near by.

"Kai, Abra is a Psychic type, I'll bet it knows confusion! But for now, Pidgey use quick attack!!!!" Pidgey flew forward slamming hard into Abra and knocking it out of a tree.

"...right...Abra, use Confusion!" Abra landed and lifted its arm, using its psychic powers to slam the Pidgey onto the ground. Pidgey let out a cry of pain but got back up into the air.

"Pidgey, use Gust!" Pidgey whiped up a gust attack and launched it at Abra. When the attack landed, it slammed Abra into a tree causing it to fall. It tried to get back up, but couldnt.

"That was a good fight Kai! see, if you command your pokemon with confidence then you will do better in battle!" The two talked for a little longer then Cris left.

In a flash of light, they appeared in front of the Pokemon Center. They walked in and sat down at a near by table. Nurse Joy brought out some food for Kai and his two pokemon and the trio inhaled the food as if there wasnt much there at all. For a while after that, they rested, watching trainers come in and out with their various pokemon. On the TV there was a news story about an on going battle between two police and two criminals. It seemed as though an Onix had busted up some pretty important buildings in the process. He watched that for a little while but decided that was too depressing so he got up and led his pokemon outside. Growing up in Diamond City he knew where everything was. He always loved this town and really didnt want to leave it. The trio walked through the town, when they came upon a kid being bullied by a kid much bigger than himself.

"Hey! leave that kid alone!" The larger kid kicked his victim one more time and turned. "Oh yeah? and what are you planning on doing about it kid?" About that time the bully pulled out a pokeball and threw it, revealing a very angry Mankey. "Fine, if its a battle you want, its a battle your going to get! Abra, go!" Abra sat down in front of Kai and appeared to be asleep. "Hah your pokemons asleep! a lot of good THATS going to do you!"

And with that, Kai was pulled into yet another pokemon battle he wasn't planning on fighting in. The bully didn't give Kai the chance to attack first, he was already barking out orders. "Mankey! use Karate Chop! show that pipsqueek pokemon what power really is!" The Mankey charged forward, Kai was about to give the Command to use Confusion but right as he was about to say it, Abra lifted its arm and launched mankey into a wall with a Confusion Attack. "What the..."

The bully began laughing, partially at his mankey and partially at Kai. "Haha your pokemon doesnt even listen to you! hahahaha this is to priceless! Mankey get in there and use Seismic Toss!

Kai was about to give out the command to use Kenisis but again, just as he was about to Abra used Kenisis. As Mankey was charging forward a trashcan lifted into the air and began floating around, distracting the Mankey. Finally, it clicked. Abra, use Confusion while its distracted! Abra lifted its arm and shot mankey against the wall again. It got up and instead of trying to attack Abra it began slamming itself into the wall till it passed out.

The bully returned his pokemon and ran away scared, dropping 150Y as he did so. Kai Helped the kid up and grabbed the money. " Are you alright Kid?"
