Hey, all!
As you know, the next thing on the Gaian Admin's docket is Gaia Fishing. Sort of a mini-game for Gaia, that, from what I've researched, is going to be sort of a Pokemon-esque fishing experience.
Myself and Yorick sat down one night and researched all of the indicators about Gaian fishing, and here's what we found out.
1. There are several different places you can fish.
2. You can buy many different rods, and will have to 'upgrade' to catch all of the fish.
3. The playing functions are pretty simple. You're in first-person mode (you gamers know what that means), and you pick a place in the lake to cast out. If you hook a fish, then you somehow have to 'fight' to keep it on the line until you can reel it in. Obviously, 'rarer' fish will be harder to hook, unless you upgrade rods.
4. Fish, once captured, will be tradable. As in, can be traded, bought, and sold.
5. Collecting fish leads to earning fishy hats. How many, and what hats, we don't know yet.
Now, with all those facts right there, and I'm sure Kyle can dig up the picture of fishing rods in someone's inventory that showed up after a glitch accidently sent them to some people's inventories, I'm sure you're all excited. Finally, a way to earn gold! Finally, a new game! etc etc.
So, here's my idea. We all know that the GOOD rods will be expensive. Since we are such a close-knit guild, I thought maybe we could create a mule just for fishing-one that the ENTIRE guild could use. (I nominate Aqualad xd ) We would all pool some money into a 'rod fund' for that account.
We'd start a scheduling thread for Garth (Aqualad). Since we are all on at different times during the day, it shouldn't be too big of a problem finding a half an hour during your online time Garth isn't being used, where you can sign on and go fishing. All the fish you caught during your session could be traded to your account, and Garth would be ready for the next person to fish with him.
It's also possible that maybe two people can use one account at the same time, but this I'm not positive on.
Anyways, I thought I'd toss this idea out to you all. It would be a way for all of us to reap the benifits of fishing that we may not be able to individually-at least not with long questing to get the good rods.
Thoughts?

I like it! It could also help out the Charity; for those who can't get on often and would like to get more items, people could fish both for themselves and for these people, selling the fish and donating to the Charity.
The Nightcrawler votes ja!

That sounds brilliant, Wally... er Barry. And yes two people can be on one account at a time but I couldn't say that you could necessarily have two people fish at once.

The only downside I can see is if two people fish at the same time and get their fish inventories confused....but if we work out a week-by-week schedule for Garth, I don't think it would be a problem. All we'd have to do is make a list, like,
Monday: 1am GST-2am GST: Greer Nelson 2am GST to 3AM GST: Virgil Hawkins
et cetera....and when your time is up, arrange a trade and take your fish.
Garth would start a thread asking for schedulings...you'd reply with when you wanted to fish (first post, first served) and Garth would edit people in to the schedule as they asked for time slots.
If there's a time you are online and Garth isn't being used, you'd just sign on to him, post that he's being used in the thread, and fill yourself into the schedule.

I vote yes! I'm not a huge poster of stuff, but I like to read and help out the rest of the guild and this sounds like it could be a fun way of filling in time as well as making cash for the Kapow! Charity smile

Actually it reminds me more of World of Warcraft what with all the rods and such... and being that fishing in WoW is about 10x easier being in first person mode. The only thing, is maybe you'll be able to get like, really good items fishing? That would make it really WoW-esque... (not to mention I like WoW 100x more than FFXI...)
