In an obscure part of town, you come across a small quaint shop, which sort of reminds you of those old fashion magic shops. The place looked old but in good shape, the place made of a dark wood with stained glass windows. Above the door on a dark wooden plaque are the words 'Sanctuary of Souls', likely the name of the shop. As you open the door the shop and step inside, a little bell rings to signal your arrival in the shop.
Glancing around the shop, you see myriad bookshelves along the walls, on which are books, crystals, vials of various colored liquids, various shaped figurines, and many other things. In the center of the room are a few dark colored cushy looking couchs around a wooden coffee table. Scattered around the room are a few statues, chairs, and plants. At the back of the shop is a small walkway with two stair cases, one leading to the upper floors of the shop, and one leading down into the depths of the shop.
A woman with long slighty wavy black hair wearing black oriental style clothing with white designs on them and glasses walks towards you from one of the couchs which she had been sitting on. "Irashaimasen!" she said in greeting in a silky voice with a small bow and a smile. With a gesture around the shop she added, "Welcome to the Sanctuary of Souls." she waved at the couch opposite to the one she had been siting on previously, "Please, have a seat." she said, sitting back in the place she had sat before.

Spelke jumped noticibly when the woman approached him. The shop had a mysterious aura that made him jumpier than usual. He reached up to scratch behind his ear nervously and grinned. "Well, actually I was just looking for..um..looking.." he trailed off. His brain prompted him to finnish his sentance and get on with asking for directions to 'that one place where there's a bunch of odd junk and stuff' but something stopped him. Then a familiar silence ringing sound filled his mental ears, and Spelke recognized it as the sound of temporary stupidity. "..uh..sure." he agreed in a small voice and perched gingerly on an expensive looking piece of furniture. Spelke glanced warily behind him, twiddling with the miniature rubix cube on his keychain as if trying to ward off the ominous prescence of whatever was haunting this place.

Reina smiled Spelke, who seemed to be a little nervous in the shop, "My name is Reina, I am the shopkeeper here." she said in a soothing voice, trying to get him to relax a bit. "Would you like some tea?" she asked, gesturing at the tea set on the coffee table. Though you could have sworn you hadn't seen that there when you first glanced around the shop. She poured tea into one of the tea cups and offered it and it's saucer to Spelke. The tea's aroma was a rather pleasent one and invited one to drink it.
She picked up her own cup and saucer from the set and took a sip from it before gazing at him over her glasses. "Might you be interested in perchasing a soul?" she asked nonchalantly. Right when he is in the middle of a sip if he took the tea.

"Ah..thank you?" Spelke really wasn't sure that anything from somewhere like this was safe to drink, but it definately smelled nice enough, and it would be rude to decline. He accepted the tea even more gingerly, sending some of it spilling over the sides of the cup before he had even touched the handle. He stared at the rapidly forming puddle of brownish liquid in the center of his saucer, more to avoid staring at anything else in the strange and forboding room, as he lifted the cup to take a sip...and choked.
He somehow had the prescence of mind to set the cup on the nearest flat surface, but most of the tea sloshed out of it and onto the floor anyway as Spelke coughed and sputtered, attempting to both swallow the tea and avoid getting any more if it into his lungs at the same time. "Purchase a WHAT?!" he managed to gasp out. Was this lady crazy?

A small smile graced Reina's lips when Spelke choked on the tea. Ah yes, timing is everything. Absently while he was busy with trying to clear his lungs, she flicked her free hand slightly at the tea that had sloshed onto the floor, transporting it into the sink in her kitchen. Wouldn't be good if it soaked into the floor, now would it?
She waited until most of his coughing and sputtering had stopped before answering his question, "A soul." she said again, "A life which spark has gone out and is unable to move to another plane on it's own." she stated, making small slightly elaborate gestures with one hand to accent her words. "Someone who I'm sure would be alot better with you, than without." she said with a small chuckle.

Nix that, she was definitely crazy. Spelke raised an eyebrow, for untrained not-professionals, the best way to deal with crazy people was to stay calm and find an excuse to vacate the area as soon as possible..and then maybe refer her to the nearby mental hospital. A stone-faced war-mask of an expression slid into place over his features and he leaned forwards, resting one elbow on his knee. "You want to sell me a dead thing. Right." he drawled in a smooth Debater's voice. "Well, I'm not too clear on the specifics, but isn't there a law against mistreatment of the dead? I'm not saying your practices are illegal or anything, Miss Reina, but I'd certainly like to ah..look up a few things in the rulebooks first." Spelke stood up slowly, trying not to provoke her by making any sudden movements, and edged away from his seat. He glanced down to check to location of the recently spilled liquid, but there was none. Confused, he looked back up slowly, resisting the urge to start fidgeting with his keychain again.

A smile played across Reina's lips. Oh yes, this would be an interesting person to sell a soul to, she could just tell. "Well, techniquely speaking the could be considered dead. But if you attach a soul to a new body, might they be considered alive again? Assuming they were alive in the first place." she asked, muttering the last part offhandedly. "I believe that law usually refers to their mortal remains, the body, not the soul." she said in a matter of fact voice, that dismissed that that was probably because most people couldn't do this with the souls of the dead. "Seeing as how I've never been arrested, and I've sold many a soul to many a person, I couldn't for sure say." she said with a serene smile before taking a sip from her tea cup, as if she didn't notice that he was attempting to get out of there as quickly as he could without alerting her that he was doing it.
"Hmm.. You know..." she paused, her piercing gaze looking him over for a moment, "I think I have just the soul for you." Calmly, she stood up and started backing towards the walkway at the back of the shop. As she walked she said over her shoulder, "I'll just be a minute, please be a good boy and don't go escaping out the door while I'm away." she said, her voice twinking with contained laughter as she walked up one of the stairs.

He broke out into a cold sweat, and muttered something under his breath about not getting arrested if you weren't caught. Okay, so the first excuse hadn't worked. Well, that was okay. The first excuse very rarely worked, and in some cases, there was no such thing as a valid excuse. It crossed his mind that the shopkeeper sounded like one of those sci-fi theorists..like those people who made that Down the Rabbit Hole: What the Bleep Do We Know? movie that was like six hours long and used double-sided discs. He had almost been inclined to believe them until a classmate had pointed out that "Spirit of Romtha" was listed in the credits.
The moment the shopkeeper turned her back, Spelke made a silent mad dash for the door. If he could just get out of here..he hadn't taken four steps when he was stopped by her voice. He froze in place and turned around slowly and calmly, if a bit stiff, ready with some excuse about just wanting to stretch his legs a bit.

After a few possibly nervewracking minutes, footsteps could be heard walking back down the stairs.Reina reappeared in the walkway and glanced at Spelke and smiled at him, pleased to see that he hadn't run away. She turned back towards the stairway for a moment before turning back and walking back towards the couches, leading behind her a purple haired boy with closed eyes who was wearing a collar around his neck. That collar probably wouldn't help Spelke's impression of Reina any, considering the doubts that he already had.
She sat the boy down on the couch before seating herself down next to him. The boy looked almost as if he was sleeping, though he didn't slump over as one might if they had indeed been in slumber. Gingerly, she brushed a lock of his short hair from his face as she told Spelke, "This is Rawley." The collar shimmered for a brief moment before his eyelids opened to reveal blue pools.
(You may take over for Rawley now.)

The first thing he saw when his eyes cleared was a very small and very work rubix cube on the end of a keychain. The stickers were peeling and the screw protruding from the middle green face square suggested that it had fallen apart and been reassembled many times.
Rawely struggled to make sense of his surroundings. He remembered driving home in the snow..and then.. how had he gotten here? He should be dead! The blood!? His hand flew to the back of his neck to check for a wound but it was gone. How..?
"Er..hi. I'm Spelke." he said tentitively as he moved forwards to greet the new person, unsure what the think of the thick leather collar around his neck. Rawley seemed rather disoriented, which seriously made him wonder about the legality of the whole thing. Still, he had to at least be polite.
"Rawley." he nodded cordially at the introduction, still quite confused. Had he just dreamed the whole thing? Or was he having a lucid dream right now? Deciding to chance it, he asked "Where am I and what happened?" Spelke only shrugged and glanced pointedly at the shopkeeper lady. He wanted to know what was going on too.

Reina smiled kindly at Rawley, "This is the Sanctuary of Souls." she said in a way that made you think she was talking about heaven. "You died, and were wondering about as a lost soul for a while before I picked you up and brought you here and gave you back a physical body." she said matter of factly before pointing at Spelke, "He is interested in taking care of you. Aren't you, Spelke?" she said with a sweetly mischievious smile at said man before relaxing back into the couch and sipping her tea.

"I am? I mean...I..am." he stuttered. Oh crap! What was he going to do now?! He had school! He had pre-law programs! He also had cube offs and chess teams and the Ren Fair, and all sorts of other things. How the heck was he going to manage taking care of this...person from who knew where with who knew what chemicals running through his blood. Still, it was hardly fair to leave him with the shopkeeper.
"Your cube.." Rawley gestured vaguely, still not as lucid as he could be after the recent return to solid form. He reached for it, holding it carefully at arms length when Spelke did not move away. "Right down. Left left up back down." he mumbled to himself as he fingered the small object. In four turns, the colors were arranged around different colored centers.
Confused and more than a little wary. Spelke pried the miniature Rubik's Cube from Rawley's hands and unhooked it from the keychain. In four more turns, he resolved it.

Reina smiled as she saw a bit of panic flash through Spelke's eyes. Always amusing when people realize they might have gotten in a bit over their head, for whatever reason. She watched curiously as Rawley fiddled with Spelke's cube, then Spelke's solving of it. With a flourish of one hand she presented a piece of paper to Spelke, and with the other an ornate pen, "Just sign this and he's yours to take care of." she said with a smile.

"Er..right." said Spelke, absentmindedly handing the cube back to Rawley, who proceeded to start rearranging the squares into a complex rainbow pattern, that wasn't quite a rainbow because there was no purple. Well, he was in for it now. With a single-minded determination, he drew a shakey line with the elaborate quil pen, and then signed his name on the line. Spelke's determination turned out to be rather short-lived no matter how single-minded, because as he handed the document back the the shopkeeper, he could already sense the sinking feeling of dread. "Okay buddy, time to go." He growled, grabbing the much bigger Rawely by the elbow (he was still playing with the rubik's cube), intent on leaving the shop (and therefore the shopkeeper) as quickly as possible. Oh what oh what had he gotten himself into now? When they were at least three blocks away in a random direction, Spelke turned back towards campus. "Well buddy, I suppose you and I are roomates now." he said to Rawley, who couldn't seem to decide if he wanted to put the white squares next to the yellow ones or on the ends. "We'd best get acquainted over a game of Chess." For the first time since the night he died, Rawley smiled.

Reina smiled pleasantly at Spelke as she took the document back from him. Moments after taking it, it disappeared as if she had never taken it. When he started dragging Rawley out of the shop, she smiled serenely and waved at him as he went out of the shop, "Iterashai!"
