The scent of the sea danced about the misty blue female’s snout. She snorted once and flicked her tail, enjoying the dull sounding thrum of the waves.
At least a month had passed since the female had come to the lands, and the urge to travel had not once resurfaced in her narrow frame. She didn’t want to think she was satiated- but she was glad that she no longer longed for things that were past her knowledge or beyond her grasp. She wasn’t lonely anymore either. The young prince was always about to make life a interesting, and the rest of the pride seemed to be as good natured as his parents.
Now, there was only one thing she had to do. But it wasn’t coming easy.
She had little chance to brace herself when the shadow moved passed her paw. Her muscles flexed and her head hit the cold water. Underneath the waves her jaws snapped against the shadowy form of the fish. But instead of dinner, she got a mouthful of salty water and a slap in the face by a rather slimy fin.
“Uff!” The lioness balked and pulled her head back up. Water dribbled off her hair and face, and she rubbed a paw to push it back enough to see. “...this can’t be that hard.” She’d been watching some of the other lions- they didn’t need to run to catch the fish. Her leg wasn’t what was keeping her from eating. Quietly, she bit her lip, and leaned her weight to one side to watch the shadows drift again.

Green eyes shifted from land to sea as the red coated male slowly drifted along side the oncoming tide; the sea was calling out to him, he felt as his ears settled at the sounds of the waves colliding and splashing against one another. His black toed paws lay covered in sand and water as he trotted onward in no real direction.
Many thoughts passed his mind as he wandered; thoughts upon loss of love seemed to taunt his mind the most. He was alone right now and this was an odd thing to him. He had three daughters and at one point in time a loving mate; and for as long as he could remember they were always in his life.
But now, now his cubs were older and left, along with his first love. Things seemed as if they were falling apart right before his every eyes and all he could do was sit back and watch as everything crumbled at his paws, until nothing was left, nothing but his solitude. He had a sister- that he missed deeply and sought to find someday, but for tonight he had other things on his mind; tonight he just wanted to relax.
With a deep sigh the large male stopped himself in his place and gazed out at the ocean once more, taking in the sent of the salty waters as they trickled off of his paws. He was lost within his thoughts now- and nothing seemed to faze him.

Kilua batted her paw into the waters a few times in protest, before finally withdrawing it slowly. No luck. Whatever the trick was, she didn’t have it. She hated always bumming the rest of the pride’s kills though, and with a slight tinge of embarrassment, she stalked back through the water.
The waves were rocking, and they pushed her back on shore as if to give her the boot. No longer floating, her leg throbbed once in complaint as she adjusted. It was getting late, maybe she was just too fatigued to manage it. That was probably it she decided quietly, and went about flattening her disheveled fur.
As she did- a faint twinge of something pulsed behind her ear; something other then the thrusting waves. She paid it no attention for a long moment, flattening down her chest fur before moving on to her paw. Then- it flicked again. Her head craned as she looked about curiously.
A large shadow was moving in the distance, and her eyes fell transfixed upon it. Someone else was out tonight? “Hello?” The lioness called politely, her ears shifting.

At first the lioness’s words didn’t reach him, he was so far lost within the back of his own mind that he couldn’t possibly hear her now. His paws moved onward as he let his head move lower to the ground, as if he were ashamed of the thoughts that pressed through his mind, he felt so fickle being this way. Akamu didn’t know what to feel really or what to do.
But before he could regain his mindset he stopped and gazed upward. Finally the sent of another passed him, along with soft words. It had been a very long time; he had not seen a lioness of her age or size in what felt like years, though he knew inside this wasn’t true, something about her gaze made him smile. He stopped then and gave her a very kind bow of the head before speaking.
“Forgive me, I was thinking before so I didn’t notice you. Hello, my name is Akamu.”
He felt very silly now. He was just a few feet from her and all he could do was say hello- how rude! She was a very lovely being and her pelt was a soft shade of blue gray. He had seen pelts like this before, back in the lands of the Mist. It was comforting in a way, he felt like he knew her because of this. Maybe he did.
“What are you doing all the way out here?”
He questioned with another smile

A bright smile crossed about her face, and she turned around to see him better. She was still wet from the fishing, and the scruff of hair that rested on top of her head draped over and completely obscured her left eye. She looked almost comical- but strangely endearing. “Oh, hello Akamu.” She greeted eagerly. “I’m Kilua.” His questioning of her brought a thrum of surprise in her chest. Did he know her? No...no- she didn’t remember ever seeing... but, maybe she was forgetful. She’d never known herself to be forgetful, but- “Out here?” She quirked. “I live here. And you?” The misty blue asked, sitting herself down so he would not happen to take much notice of her now agitated leg. It crooned with a kind of satisfaction when she sat- and she was glad she had had some time to soak it in the surf today.
“Oh but- not always, I mean. I traveled here not long ago. But I can’t say I’ve really lived anywhere but here. I guess that sounds a little funny but-“

“I see.”
He replied with a kind smile, disregarding her movements. He wouldn’t gaze for too long... it was rude.
“I sort of live here too now, I moved to this place not too long ago with my cubs- you see we were traveling and happened upon this land... it was luck if you ask me. They love the sea,-- water.”
He spoke with nothing but a smile and kind tone. Though he was large in frame his heart was as big as the ocean it’s self. He held no anger within his movements, and no sorrow within this gaze.
“Well, only two of my cubs came with me- my ma-- the mother of my daughters took the other and left some time ago-”
Even when he spoke of his past love and missing cub he couldn’t bring himself to be upset. The past was now in the past, he couldn’t do much for them now.
“Oh forgive me, I’m rambling.”

Kilua frowned apologetically, as if she had been the one to coax out the uncomfortable subject. She shook her head and gently rubbed one paw against the other. “I’m sorry to hear that...Maybe- the sea is not for everyone?” She reflected. “I could not imagine getting around without it.” She chuckled somewhat to herself, and slapped her tail lightly against her damaged foot. “Not that I get around much with it either. But it’s the only place that brings in food without long travels. And I think... it feels for you, in a way? It’s never quiet, always roaring. I used to hate quiet nights.”
“I would have liked to grow up in a place like this. I’m sure for the times that they were here, they were happy.” The lioness smiled and nodded her head.
“I know I’ve been spying on the little cublings.” She remarked with a somewhat humerus expression. “They seem to have fishing down already, and Kilua has so far mastered only mouthfuls of salt water.”
