I had a very good female friend who committed suicide on November 7th of last year. I'm taking a Creative Writing class, and one assignment was to write an English Sonnet about a person who changed your life. So I wrote mine about her, and I got and A+ for the work.
A spring of love in this world has run dry,
Its flow, cut off by a cold, hard rope.
When I heard those words, I wanted to die.
Your life, filled with so much love and hope.
I miss your caring, loving embrace,
Your radiant, warm, and tender smile,
I'll never again see your bright face,
But I dream about it all the while.
Sometimes I dream that you are still alive,
And that everything will be okay.
If only there was a way you'd revive,
But I doubt I'll live to see the day.
And though you have walked through Death's black door,
I'll love you, Kiya, forevermore.
