Okay, So I write novels, (Most incomplete), and Short Stories. I'm working on a novel, due by the end of the school year, and I'm on major Writer's Block right now. The setting is a fictional Land, Degene, heh, just typed some random letters, and came out with theat. Crrently, Wizards and Elven Archers are fighting, but noone knows why, only that the king ordered them to do their job,s and they arent.

Any ideas would be extremely appreciated. So, here it is. If Word will Open crying .

The seas ran dark on the shores of Degene as the blood of many wizards dripped from their white robes turning them a dark scarlet color. Arrows were soaring toward them, left and right, many wizards, especially the apprentices, lying on the floor, bleeding profusely. The archers, from the forests of Epiloch, up North. The wizards from Panortaugh, down toward the south end. This whole war is all of the King’s fault. The king had ordered the elven archers to travel south, to set up defenses, and the wizards north, for the same reason. Both groups had made the decision to take the eastern-most route, resulting in a collision in their paths.

As the wizards trekked on through a quiet field, a folk story broke out among the travelers telling about an evil king, whose path was only pure evil. He dreamed to take over the kingdom, and turn it into a tyrant colony. At this, the wizards broke into rage. “How could he be so evil!? one shouted. “It was only because he was extremely corrupt, and controlled.” Another spoke calmly. Multiple wizards scoffed at this idea. “It was his own doing, and you damn right know so.” The protesting wizard shook his head. He was an older fellow, and being spoken to this way by younger men, was insulting. “How dare you talk to me like that…” he growled. “Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?” he asked, more of a statement than anything. The other two shook their heads. “Well, My name is Kathral McFeene.” He boomed. “Head of the WCD.” He murred. The other two, grinned, twins, they were. “Well, our names are Andy and Randy Herra. We’re head of the mischevious magic department.” They spoke, cackling soon afterward. “WCD?” they asked, smirking. “Yes, the WCD.” He muttered. “The Wizard Control Department… Meaning, I can just ‘zap’ your magic away from you both, at any time I wish. But that would be against my job morals, so, unless you do something extremely wrong, I will, and can, not do that.” He growled, his eyes narrowing on the two men. They attempted, for a few seconds, to control their outburst of laughter. Their attempt, however hard it was, was unsuccessful. The other wizards looked on in amusement. They had all been through this before. The delicate dance of powers. It was difficult to imagine either of the people involved to win this fight though. Power wise, the twins, individually, would not win, but then... They were a team and always worked together. If that were so, the powers would even out. Their ranks, in their own respective fields, were about the same.

Maybe somehow, in the next paragraph, you can switch it over to the old wizard's point of view and explain (not out loud of course, just in the paragraph) where the origins of the WCD started and just how important this wizard actually is... And then afterwards, after explaining some things and introducing your characters, their personalities and the way they look, more in depth... Maybe you can have something exciting happen... Like some enemy jumps out at them in the forest and they get a taste of just what they're heading into with this war. And at the same time, the reader gets a taste of just how much power these wizards have...
^^ Just a thought. Good luck with the writer's block! It is indeed, a pain! gonk

That's a top notch idea! I love it. Getting to work on that as we speak.

I have no idea how to get past writer's block...If I'm in the mood to write I can start writing at two in the morning and finish when I finally get tired at six AM! Other times, usually when I have a uni assignment in the following day, my creative spirit seems to be taking a long, long lunchbreak.

One of my lecturers, who is a legend and has been writing scripts for 30 years or so, told us at the start of the course:

"We're all faced with that blank page. Doesn't matter who you are or what you're writing. You could be writing your first piece, or maybe you've done a hundred before, but every writer has to put something on that page."

Well, it made me feel better about it, because it just means its a part and parcel of being a writer. It doesn't go away, its just something that comes with the job/hobby. I'm pretty sure if you asked any published author they'd say something similar. Maybe.

Well good luck with your work. Thought I'd add that because it was a major help to me, maybe it'll support other people too.

Transition writing things help alot. It allows you to fill up a page and find something cool to write about.

Or if you have nothing NEW to write about, trying rewriting the same stuff just better, or more extreme.
