Shows I've been in: Annie - Grace Fame! - Serena South Pacific - Nurse Grease - Pink Lady Odd Couple (Stage Manager for a female version)
So is anyone else a theatre lover? What shows do you like, or hate? Any other thoughts?

I am too.
Shows I've seen: Cats Beauty and the Beast Noises Off (not a musical) Suds! Dads! The musical. Sound of Music (not a musical) Much Ado about Nothing (?) (not a musical) Macbeth Phantom of the Opera sadly most of these are community plays because I don't make it to a big theatre often. and I've seen a ton more movie wise
Shows I've been in: Anne of Green Gables - Mrs. Pye The Wiz- Scarecrow Importance of Being Earnest - Gwendolen Fairfax (not a musical) Pirates of Penzance - Edith Luxury Cruise - Lillian Gregory (not a musical) The Day Billy Lived - way too many characters (not a musical) Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead - musician (not a musical)
I love theatre and I love singing. I've taken drama classes at my school too. It's so much fun to watch and much much more realistic than movie wise.

All I'm going to say is...look at my screen name for the answer to your question...not to mention I'm a music major which makes me a music nerd in every part of life...lol I even comment about music in movies and how music affects our every day lives.
Shows I've seen: Cats Oklahoma Beauty and the Beast Tarzan West Side Story Guys and Dolls WICKED The Christmas Carol (about 3 times) On Video: MANY!! Some including...Sound of Music Our State Fair The King and I Wizard of Oz Cinderella
Shows I've been in: Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat-Narrator Lion King-Nala Peter Pan-Mrs. Darling (present/past) Oklahoma-(made up character named Mary Sue Delaroo) had a small solo Guys and Dolls-Agatha (girl who was basically the helper had 2 lines and went a cross stage many times as a Mission Gal) Wizard of Oz-Tree (seriously one of the best costumes ever and one of my favorite characters sang a trio and had a few lines), Ozian (sang a trio), Jitterbug (was a special dancer), Winkie, Chorus Gal Bye, Bye Birdie-Mayor's Wife (meaning I got to faint a lot and was supposed to be a humorous character...my best friend was the mayor so that was interesting), Nancy (one of the crazy fans who screamed a lot I had a special solo at the beginning and a trio which was most people's favorite part of the production)

seems like we've all been a part of something. Beauty and the Beast was wonderful but I wished I fully remembered it.

It counts! In my opinion, band, stage crew and acting all count. I was Assistant Director for one of the things I was in although I didn't really need to do much but I was second boss.

You played Serena? isn't she the one with Tyrone...or was it Nick? (its been so long ago... i don't remember who's who...) The one with Tyrone was the ballet dancer. I was with Nick. Who was a really close friend of mine in real life. he was my friends boyfriend in high school. we kept putting off the kissing scene until a few days before the show. we were like brother and sister and it was just really uncomfortable for us...lol.. so we went out in the hallway and did our scene. it took forever for me to get through it without laughing. i think i made out with my friends boyfriend more than she did that week..lol.. he didn't really mess with me too much during rehersal. our director kept telling us that it wasn't believable. (it wasn't..lol..) so on opening night, to make it more believable we get to the scene and we're supposed to kiss me. He takes his arm around my waist, pulls me in close, and shoves his tongue down my throat..lol.. it was horrible. during the scene change, i smacked his shoulder and told him that was disgusting..lol.. he couldn't stop laughing. it was like kissing my brother, it was so weird.. he didn't do it any of the other nights like that..lol.. my mom told me later that i looked uncomfortable kissing him..lol.. whee

one of my solos was "think of meryl streep" i couldn't stand that song..lol.. it was so annoying. it was a slower song, so i didn't have any dancing to do. i just had marks that i was supposed to get to by a certain line in the song. it turned out no one else really liked that song either..lol..

I wish I had had more confidence to try out for musicals back when I was in high school. The only one I was ever in was Guys and Dolls, and I was Martha, a mission band girl with a name, but no lines. We did a Broadway review in a chorale I was in, though, and I had some solos from Les Mis (Bring Him Home, On My Own), Lion King (Circle of Life), and Rent (I don't know the name of it - it started with "There is no future..." but I don't remember the rest of the words.
I've seen: Miss Saigon Les Miserables Jekyll & Hyde Gypsy Beauty & the Beast Camelot
I'm trying to think if there were any others I'd seen...I know there were, but I was really young. I did love watching the old musicals on TV, though. I really loved each show I saw, though I was a wee bit disappointed with Jekyll and Hyde, only because my suitemate in college had the original soundtrack and by the time I saw the show, they made some major changes - took out "Bring on the Men" and put in some other song that wasn't as good and then changed Lisa Carew's name to Emma Carew, which really messed up this one song where Jekyll is supposed to be wailing Lisa's name - it was a part I really, really liked!
My dream roles would be: Fiddler on the Roof - 2nd oldest daughter - the one who follows her love to Siberia Beauty & the Beast - Belle
Oklahoma would have been fun too, just to be one of the girls in it, not even a major role. But the Fiddler and B&tB roles, I've wanted to do for years!

Alienarose Rent (I don't know the name of it - it started with "There is no future..." but I don't remember the rest of the words. That would be the finale of rent "There is no future.. There is no past Thank god this moment's not the past..." great ending heart
