I finally seen An Inconvenient Truth.
I've been seeing alot of movies lately on the topic of global warming, like The Day after Tomorrow.
These movies are really starting to open up my mind even more to global warming.
So. Anyone got the guts to discuss about movies based on global warming?
What are your favorites?
Got any you really don't think were good?

The Day After Tomorrow is embarassing. The scenario is pure fantasy and could not actually happen. The scary thing about climate change is that it happens slowly enough that we can easily sit on our asses oblivious to it; we tend to be more frightened and shocked by lots of devastation very quickly than slow, progressive devastation. Which is unfortunate, because people don't quite get the scope of the changes. The changes themselves aren't neccesarily bad... humanity just tends to have this arrogant notion that Gaia should revolve around us instead of the other way around. rolleyes

Starlock The Day After Tomorrow is embarassing. The scenario is pure fantasy and could not actually happen. I liked the movie too, but I also know that it's pure fantasy in that scientifically, that scenario is impossible for our planet short of some supernatural force or alien intervention. Climate change just isn't that rapid. xd
Part of why it liked the movie, though, was becuase it was so over-the-top. It would get the potatoes who don't understand the science scared enough to actually pay attention to the climate change issue. Shock tactics work to bring attention to an issue. Al Gore's film does that in some ways to, but does it using the real science instead of exaggerated fantasy. That instead appeals to people's sense of rationality.

The changes themselves aren't neccesarily bad... humanity just tends to have this arrogant notion that Gaia should revolve around us instead of the other way around. rolleyes lol I am in Science Olympiad and we were taking a charter bus upstate to a competition and the movie was playing on those tvs. We picked it appart, like the glass in the windows wouldn't break when the frezze came, and in the library why is the receptionist still sitting at her desk when the tsunami wave swept through. Not to mention the floating line on the map.
