Set just inside the perimeter of the woods sits the small house AJ moved into two months ago. Resembling a large cabin, its far wall overlooks the ocean with several windows. It appears rather spacious inside, yet cozy.

A large sofa faces the windows, with a fireplace nearby. A small kitchen shares this open space on the other side of the chimney. A wall opposite of the fireplace seperates a bathroom from the living area. Behind the sofa is a wooden ladder to a loft, where the bedroom is located. A single large window offers a view of the ocean from the bed, and a small writing desk completes the look of a personal hideaway.

A dirt road leads from the cabin back to town, a bicycle which rests against the house on a simple porch being the main method of transportation. However, a dock extends into the ocean where boats once moored.

Day 3
Afternoon

------------------------

AJ stumbled into the cabin, fresh from his meal with Bing. His head hurt, but not what he would describe as a headache. It was the back that hurt, it radiated heat from within and it was unbearable. After shutting the door, he made it into the living room, planning to lie down on the couch, but ended up kneeling on the carpet instead, his hands covering his ears as the felt so hot.

He could feel them ripling under his touch. They were wet from sweat, and AJ just assumed he was feeling his hair caught with it, stringing together. His ears rang with a persistant tone, mixed with some sort of garbled crinkling noise.

He froze again. He felt his ears go soft like putty and then they just... went away. They flattened against his head and melted away, taking with them all the pain and noises associated with them.

He couln't believe it. He got up and ran to the bathroom, inspecting himself in the mirror. His reflection looked.. off. His hair draped over the sides of his head, unobstructed by anything. He carefully pulled back a few locks and saw a very small hole drilled into his head. It was unrecognizable at first, until it dawned on him where he had seen such holes before. In fact, his sketchpad lay on the floor in the living room still, showing a portrait of a dolphin with the very same pinched hole behind its eyes.

He had dolphin ears.

"How... did that happen...?" He said aloud. His mind raced. Nothing aside from the shrimp had seemed out of the order today. He had met Bing, but... he couldn't see any connection. In fact, the only new thing in his life that day had been the shrimp... which did indeed have a certain connection with the sea. There was also... a rich folklore in the area. Perhaps myths could have a basis in reality. He resolved to find out what he could about this... change.

He pulled out a thin blanket that had been stored in a set of drawers since he had gotten there. With a tug, he pulled off a strip of blue-patterned cloth and wrapped it around his head like a headband. He never thought a trick he saw Spock perform on Star Trek would actally help him in real life.

He examined his reflection again. He still looked a little... off. But with the handband in place, his lack of ears certainly didn't catch attention.. at least until close inspection.

With his disguise in place, he decided to return to town in order to see if he could learn about what had just happened... perhaps somebody knew about this thing happening, even if it was in local legend.

And behind it all remained an untapped excitement. If his ears could turn dolphin.. perhaps his face could to? His arms, his legs, his entire body? The mere possibility of that was just too good to pass up.
