I want to know what this guild thinks about education. As in public schools in America today. I'm not trying to insult the public schools because I don't attend one and I may be a tad bit bias against them (so I may not be totally accurate please forgive me). Not the point of this discussion. I want to know what you think about education. Like do you think that America is spending too much on education? or What do you think about the fact that its trying to be too politically correct? or anything else dealing with education. Feel free to post what you wish of private schools because I won't be offended in the least. Please I would like to hear some opinions.

If anything too little money is spent on public schools. Our school has 2 janitors and 2 security guards for a 1700 student, 5 story building.
Personally, I'm against political correctness. Then again, I'm also against censorship in any form. So whatever.
Public schools are ok, private schools are better, home schooling...
Kids don't get the same social development, so no.
In the end, public schools are probably the best because kids are placed in normal social environments, which I believe is most important. It's been proven that kids who will learn will learn where ever they are...
So, I'm fine with it as it is now. My only complaint is that until we're 16, they think we don't know what we want to do with our lives.
Because of course I'll need to know about the battle of Agincourt to be a psychologist.

Public schools are the best kind, and there definitely IS enough money being put into schools, but not in the right way. I've talked to alot of my teachers and staff, and all over the U.S. thousands of dollars are being put into school under bills (the kind you vote on), but only for one thing. For example, our school desperately needs new textbooks and better pay for our teachers, however, we have no money for that. We DO, however, have about 1 million dollars in the form of a bill that can only be used for fauna. Planting trees. We NEED new textbooks, and we have 1 millions dollars just sitting around THAT CAN'T BE USED except to plant trees, WHICH WE HAVE NO ROOM FOR. And not just trees, it applies to all sort of thing, like lighbulbs. We have thousands of dollars to spend on lightbulbs, but not where we need it. It's STUPID. Plain and simple. So if that money were all to be put to better use, our schools would be WAY better, and we'd have to stop pouring as much money into them. Also, another one of the biggest problems with public schools is the teachers. Some of the teachers suck, some just don't care, and that, in turn, effects the students. There are plenty other reasons, like the fact that our education system is no where near as good as it used to be, and how many idiotic kids who don't even TRY to learn are bringing down those that do. But hey, in the end, the public school system is still better than the other forms of education, even if most of the problems with it are stupid and easily solved.

Plenty of money goes to the public schools.
Tax dollars go to schools.
It all really depends on how the shool chooses to use
the money given to them.
My school, for example, needs new books, art supplies (majorly), a new sound system in the auditorium, and various other nessessities. BUT, most, if not all, of the money given to our school goes towards the sports programs. Which I can understand to an extent. (My school is big into sports. Supposedly we have one of the better sports teams in the city and state.) But they don't need to focus on the sports alone.
*shrugs* But there isn't a whole lot I can do about that, other than vent.
