Xeth – The Pilgrimage of the Gods.Welcome to the World of Xeth, a purely fantasy world split into races and factions. The world of Xeth is peaceful at the moment but tension has grown and the races have become distant from their neighbours. And to top it all off, a new threat has spawned on Xeth, a threat which does not threaten just one race alone, it threatens them all. The world of Xeth looks like this: (need a host for picture, PM if you can host please)
As you can see the world is very large. Xeth is full of interesting landscapes, buildings and races. I am going to write about each area now and about the species that rule them. Note that some races will not be mentioned as they don’t form an empire but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist in Xeth and you can still choose to be one. (Read Xeth Characters for races, PM me if you want to place another race for approval.)
Plot.
The evil mage, Maelstrom threatens all of Xeth... even the gods, as he works from his Mage's Tower, within the Dark Lands high on a peak in the Mountains of the Krypt above the dark clouds where his magic hides his presence and a deadly labyrinth at it's base protects him from those who might seek him out. From the safety of his tower he has been slowly raising an Army of the Dead and Undead, the army spreading out concentrically with orders to kill or capture all they come across... sentient and non-sentient beings alike, and to bring Maelstrom the dead bodies to be resurrected and added to his army, as well as any live prisoners in order for him to enslave their souls, to further empower Maelstrom and to add to his ever growing army. Using his wizard's staff topped with a soul devourer crystal... an ancient black crystal that has the ability to animate the dead and draw the soul energy of the living within it dark facets, creating an undead slave and granting it's wielder strength, Maelstrom slowly grows in power to where eventually he will become a Living god.
Maelstrom's desire is to become powerful enough to destroy the other Living gods and to rule with his Army of the Dead and enslaved Undead.
A group of heroes must venture forth to seek out the evil mage and destroy the staff, but first they must seek out the eight Living gods to gain eight crystal fragments that when joined together will destroy Maelstrom and his soul devourer crystal and lay the dead army to rest and free the enslaved souls back to their undead bodies. Each fragment bears a different colour and each must be gained through successfully completing a challenge set forth by the god granting it. And each fragment will grant the bearer a special ability that will be ultimately necessary in order to defeat Maelstrom. Only the hero who meets the challenge can wield a crystal fragment won through the challenge... for any other, the crystal will burn to the touch and cannot be wielded... and only a single crystal can be wielded by an individual.
Therefore, a minimum of eight heroes will need to come together against this threat. And so, the Human Emperor, Baxter IX has issued forth a summons across the lands for such heroes to come to the Human Imperial Empire, to meet in Tandra... to hear of the danger that threatens all of Xeth and to offer a reward for those successful in neutralizing it.
Note: Please Read Xeth: Characters and Xeth: Discussion first, for your character creation, and to read the rules.

The soft sound of the earth thumping can just be heard against the quietness of the night. All are fast asleep in there small homes apart from the various guards which ensure the protection of the great city of Tandra and also to keep the order. The thumping becomes louder and louder. Two guards guarding an entrance to the palace look to each other puzzled. Finally a figure emerges in the shadows, a very tall figure, over thirty feet tall. The glass in buildings shakes as the earth trembles lightly. The giant walks past the guards and enters the palace. The two guards are left stunned and shocked into disbelief.
Kulmob enter the palace grounds, he looked around and looked up, the spire seemed to just go up and up forever, he couldn’t see the end in the dark too well.
“Ex…excuse me” a little voice sounds from below Kulmob. He looks down and finds a terrified man in a yellow robe looking up to him. “A…are you h…ere to attend the g-g-g-athering of heroes?” Kulmob examined the human for a moment not saying anything.
“Yes” Kulmob said is a rough and very deep voice before walking on towards the palace.
“Th…this way…” the man said, waving his arm in the direction Kulmob was going in a futile attempt to direct the huge giant. Kulmob pushed the huge palace doors open and proceeded down a long corridor, having to bend his head down a little. The human ran along after the giant, trying to keep up with his pace.
“No… Th…this way” he said point to a direction to the right; Kulmob stopped and looked at him before taking the new corridor. It opened up out into a gigantic throne room. The room was highly decorated with tapestries and other decorative items, though it looked like everything of serious value was removed from the room. This room was filled up with hundreds of creatures from different races and places. They had all answered the call for heroes, some had been here longer than others, some for months. But tonight was the night supposedly the emperor was going to speak, and reveal his plan.
The room stopped and stared at Kulmob, very few if none, having seen a giant before. Most believed them to be extinct. Kulmob moved over to the side of the room and waited for the meeting to start…
---
Mysor had flown for the last week from the Valley of the Possessed; only taking rests to eat, drink and rest. He had finally reached the city of Tandra. His white angelic wings ached and his whole body was tired, but he had to make it, tonight was the night of the meeting. He looked down on the city as he flew over, it didn’t mean much to him from a Birdseye view, but he was impressed with the size of the city, it seemed to go on and on.
He flew directly to the middle of the city, arriving at the spire and the palace. There were a few guards at a random balcony on the spire. He landed and the guards took him down to the throne room, where the rest were waiting. He was seriously impressed with the amount of creatures that came to answer the call. He took a place, moving to talk with some other angelic that had made it earlier.
OOC: Right you can begin bringing your characters into the throne room, you can either say that your character is in the throne room waiting already or bring them in.

Markel was having a bad day other than the fact he couldn't remember the past twenty years he was now running around some palace looking for a lavatory.
He'd randomly turned up at the palace earlier that day, something about heros meeting or was it? He couldn't remember however he was lost and confused and very much alone "and then that bleedin old guy" led him into a room full of monsters and other creatures that was it. The last thing he could remember was a sudden damp lumpy feeling in his under garments and an unstoppable urge to leave the room at a dead run what the frell was he doing there he wanted answers.
Once his own personal quest was over he'd rejoin the room.
_ _ _ _ _ _
Geroff watched the strange manling leave the room, he didn't understand these strange creatures but he'd gotten used to the running away from him so he paid it little attention.
Geroff had turned up at the palace with several other beings from the Hoof and he stood with them waiting for some thing to be said. He glanced around the room slowly looking at the differant species who filled the room but he made no move to speak. He just stood there while the little cogs of his mind made light of the Situation.

They reached the palace at around noon. As they arrived, a steward approached them.
"I'm sorry, dear ladies, but this is no time for you to be entering the castle. This is a gathering of heroes, not a ball I'm afraid."
Ariané wished that he hadn't said that, on his behalf.
"How..... Dare.... You..... Sir!" Mithranda screamed, glowing crimson. "We are heroes... more powerful than any others! Allow me to demonstrate!"
She pointed her wand as Ariané cried "Mithranda, please, don't!" but Mithranda had already melted him into a red coloured liquid, which, knowing Mithranda, was his blood.
The liquid immediately dropped and started seeping into the ground. Mithranda stormed off inside. Ariané waited until she'd gone, and held her staff in front of her, muttering an incantation under her breath. At once the man stood before her.
"I'm terribly sorry..." Ariané started. But the man screamed, and was already running into the distance.
Within the palace, Mithranda was darting around the room like the mad fairy she was, speeding around and screeching in her powerful voice "I'm the Fae Hero! who are you? I demand to know. what are you doing here? this is my quest! damn you all!"
Ariané quietly slipped in and just sat there, head in hands pretending she wasn't with Mithranda, in fact, wishing that she wasn't here at all. By Harmony, what was she doing here anyway? She really wished she knew.

When Mithranda came past Mysor screaming he turned to the fae and looked at her for a moment. She didn’t look like a hero, but then he questioned himself about what a hero should look like.
“What is your name young fae hero, maybe I have heard of you?” he asked, bowing slightly to her, being polite.
Kulmob just sighed and kept quiet, such a loud fae was just a handicap for such a quest in his mind. People seemed to have moved away from him, they were almost scared of him. Kulmob didn’t mind, in fact he quite liked the space.

V'ran entered the palace gates, stepping up tto the great hall, the ancient aeons seemed to reverberate off his every footstep, passersby seemed disquieted by his presence, although not one of them would know why. He smiled to himself, there would be a lot of bad dreams in the palace tonight.
He had slipped on he form of beautiful young man, full in the face and muscular of body, the palace guards had slipped him past, feeling the effects of his hypnotic mesmer even now. He sometimes believed, in his ancient arrogance that he could set up a shrine to yerreth, or a fell crucifer right here in the imperial palace and not distract a perso, although he was too smart to try this, the palace had it's fair share of sorcerors and the odd human had willpower enough to spot the anciient summoning device. He would wait here, inspect the heroes and find out about the mission that seemed so important. He liked this world, h e was able to swiftly and diligently examine the minds of his customers with little fuss and he would regret it if the others of his kind ever came here. Taking a seat he waited off the great hall, and decided to let events unfold.

Heather stepped upto the gates, she had been traveling now for several months and had been recenty been directed to this palace. She went to go though to the hall but the guards stopped her. Guard1 "hey you can't go in if you need to speak with your mummy or Daddy we can give them a message" Heather growled to herself mistaken as a calf again "That won't be nessary as i am going myself thank you" The second guard looks confused alongside his comrade " Sorry miss but no children allowed" Heather let her second growl more noticable " I am not a child and am a adult if you have not reliese (incateing the signs although her size was not normal she had still developed the way a young adult female should be), now let me though" The guards stand aside quickly and let the angery young minotaur into the hall. Heather now peeved other what had just taken place found somewhere, where she could wait, she sat down in on an empty stool.

Geroff the bull straitened his back suddenly as the sent of something he had not smelt since leaving the hoof hit his nostrils. He gazed around the room trying to work out what the strange aromer was giving the room his full attention. His dark eyes eventully settled on the new comer he studied the "girl" for some time he noticed her dark brown/red hair but his brain did not react like it normally did when it saw red. And feeling happy that nothing was a miss the minotaur went back into his original slouching poes.
------ Mikel ran around the hall as best he could trying to catch what he still belived was a "butterfly" he ran his arms held up together towards the ceiling hands open he didn't want to hurt the poor thing after all.

Ariané watched the Human cross the room to where Mithranda stood talking to an Angelic. She didn’t like the look of him at all, he seemed the sneaky sort… well, she didn’t know for sure, but it seemed he was sneaking up on Mithranda like she was a bug he wanted to squish.
Ariané’s heart quickened as he approached Mithranda, however, it seemed that the little Fae was onto him, and was now leading him on a chase around the room. She smiled and glanced around the rest of the room. Her eyes took in a giant, whom she hoped Mithranda was ignoring since giants scared her, but then again he didn’t look the sort who’d be interested in squashing little faes… also two minotaurs, completely different in appearance and probably, Ariané guessed, in personality. There was also a separatist, and of course the human and the Angelic.
She sighed. What a strange band of heroes they were turning out to be… and she wouldn’t know how to start a conversation with any of them. If only there was another elf. “Oh well.” she breathed. And she then smiled as she resumed watching the human who was still after Mithranda, laughing inwardly as she heard Mithranda’s high pitched giggle, before she disappeared… The fae had turned herself invisible. Ariané felt a weight on her shoulder, and a quiet giggle. At least she had Mithranda to talk to now.

Markel staggered to a holt as he realised the "butterfly" had vanished he shrugged to him self and took in the room again. The creatures which he had seen before he started his chace were still stood were theyed been bofore though the elf on the opposite side of the hall did appear to be talking to her self. He also notice the undescribeble tenticled creature at least he hopped they were tenticles......they did look rather falic, but chose to ignor it how did you even begin a conversation with a thing like that? He stacked to wards the nearest wall and leaned his back on it, this was starting to get boring.

Without many of the hundreds of gathered heroes noticing, a human wearing guard armor stepped out of a room and moved to where the throne was. He looked at all the many creatures, many scared him, he had heard such horrible tales about the other inhabitants of Xeth. He coughed lightly, trying to attract the attention of the creatures, only a few more turned to the human.
“Excuse me” he said quite loudly but no one heard him over all the voices in the room. A small little dwarf sighed, he wanted to hear what the human had to say, he moved up next to the human and shouted at the top of his voice.
“Listen up you foul vermin of surface, this human wants to tell us something!!!” he yelled, the whole room turned to look towards the front, the dwarf sighed again and stepped down to where he originally was. The human went a bit pale, al the creatures were not looking at him. He cleared his throat.
“Welcome to the city of Tandra.” He began to say before being cut off,
“Enough of the pleasantries” a hero from the back shouted. The human paused for a moment.
“Okay then, I assume you all know why you are here, the threat from the dark lands is ever growing, Maelstrom grows more powerful everyday, his army is ever increasing, He will soon take over this world we have come to love.” He said, gaining more confidence now, looking around the room at all the heroes.
“Our seers have seen that any direct attempt to attack his armies and him would fail, he would only raise our dead warriors out of the ground and that would just make him stronger.” Most of the heroes didn’t look too surprised; they had heard the tales of Maelstrom and what he did.
“Our seers have received visions from the living gods, they have given us a plan and so we gathered you all here. At least eight heroes will be needed, they will have to find all the living gods and take there power before confronting maelstrom himself by yourself. This is a dangerous quest, many of you will probably perish, but it’s the only way of stopping him!” The heroes looked at each other, it was suicide, to take maelstrom on with only a few people, it was sure death.
“Step forward and state your name, if you are brave enough to be part of the quest. If not you are free to go back to your home lands.” The human finished and stepped back near the throne, waiting and hoping for heroes to come forth. The room filled with conversation and outrage. Many couldn’t believe such a crazy proposition.

Geroff the bull smiled so it had begun. Well he'd come this far to do the job he wasn't going to turn around now. He got up and slowly made his way through the moaning crowed, occasionally treading on some bodies foot but ignored the verbal abuse that followed this he walked up to the pale faced human. He nodded at him and grunted his name 'Geroff' confusing the small human no end before standing behind the fritened man and waited for the other heros to procide.

Heather strutted towards the man and minotaur the dangerous the better! She stoped infront of the human stamping her left hoof out of habbit. "Heather also from the meadows of the hoof" she went and stood next to her fellow minotaur dwarfed by the size of the male.

Mithranda darted forwards from Ariane's shoulder. She was visible again now, glowing scarlet with anger... She wanted to be the first! and now these two minotaurs had beaten her to it... so unfair!
Ariane sensed trouble brewing. And so, against her ideals that magic should not be used on other beings, she froze Mithranda mid flight. the fae dropped like a stone to the ground. The hall was so silent that there was an audible crack as she hit the floor.
Ariane sighed and picked her up. "Sorry Mithranda, but it was for your own good" she whispered to the frozen figure in her arms."
She turned to the human. "I'm Ariane Surion, High Elven Spellcrafter, and guardian of this fae... a fae magician by the name of Mithranda Taranis."
As she took her place next to the minotaurs, a wave of horror struck Ariane. She had inadvertantly stepped forwards. she was now officially part of this quest. She gulped. Actually, she thought... on reflection, this quest didnt sound too bad... and she could deal with evil... that she knew... she'd have to deal with it as soon as she released Mithranda from her spell.
