Azula sat in the tranquility of the Slytherin common room. It was so quiet when no one else seemed to exist and she was the only person. She flipped aimlessly through her old worn edition of her favorite book; Helter Skelter.
The book detailed the Manson Family crimes and to Azula, it was an enjoyable read, considering she had everything in that book memorized, right down to the offset-type of some pages compared to others. The way the page numbers on every page were never actually aligned with the others. The small rips and tears on the books canvas cover beneath it's shiny-printed sheath which she had hanging on her wall.
Azula calmly read chapter one again. It was her favorite. The beginning of books was her favorite. The suspense and mystery still veiled to the newcoming reader, the ingenious setup. The plot thickening agents...Everything.
She had an emotional attachment to two things, and two things only: this book and the 1974 movie. She had almost worn the tape useless from watching it so many times.
She was able to recite it. From memory. The movie played in her mind when bouts of absolute boredom crossed her mind and she slipped into her fantasy wonderland of killings. She imagined the waltz between killer and victim and it made her sigh like a love-struck school girl.
She couldn't even begin to comprehend the amount of planning and skill it took for Jack the Ripper to finish off his last victim, but she fantasized about it. She played the entire scenario in her head, how he got into her home...
How he was able to carry out his task without so much as a 'peep' from Mary Jane Kelly...
How he took her heart with him that night.
It gave her goosebumps of awe just thinking about it.

It had been a long, exhausting day. But, of course, that didn't mean that Aidan Reese was about to be done with it. His feet were practically itching to get to the inevitable start-of-term common room party and start dancing. Aidan wasn't even that much of a dancer, but he was a party-goer, and along with partying came inappropriate dancing, bumping and grinding and all those things that only got better with more firewhiskey and louder music. The Slytherin start-of-term common room party was legendary.
So he sighed when Olivia distracted him with a rather touchy subject - that of a girl he'd been trying to get to notice him or to get off his mind all day. It was like a constant battle, too. Half of him wanted to get over her, move on, think of her as just another hot chick he'd taken a second look at. But the other half, just couldn't get her out of his mind. It was like he'd been seeing red all day.
Aidan ran his fingers through his blond hair and shrugged. "Ah, heard about that, have you? I always forget how fast gossip spreads around here." That's it, avoid the true answer. That'll only get you into trouble.
But Aidan hated to hide anything from his cousin. She was the one person in the world he truly cared for, and always had, and always would. The only person he could really trust, and the only person he felt had ever really trusted him, and it felt stupid to hide something so insignificant from her. So, as he held open the door for her, he took a breath, and as they started into the hallway, he dove in.
"It's nothing, sort of," he said, maneuvering through a group of first years who were clumped together in a frightened looking crowd. "I just sort of...have a thing for her. I can't explain it, Liv, but she's different. Anyway, like I said, it's no big deal." He paused to step lightly down a flight of stairs, and deliver a password to a seemingly blank stone wall, which then opened up into the Slytherin common room. He smiled, and stepped inside. There were students lounging about with books, or talking to friends. Some of the older students were already setting up a table with bottles of firewhiskey and elf-made wine, butterbeer and sweets and snacks of all kinds, and shooing the smaller kids away from it.
"Home sweet home," he said, dropping onto the sofa next to Azula, and putting an arm around her. With his free arm he gestured for Olivia to sit down with them, before turning his attention back to Azula. He kissed her cheek and said in a low voice, "Reading that old thing again?" He gave off one of his infamous crooked smiles that'd give any girl the goosebumps, and said even more softly, "I think you could use a new adventure." dreams can't take the place of loving you

Oh, it looks like rain tonight and thank God 'Cause a clear sky just wouldn't feel right [ N ] ot quite sure if Aidan was saying the complete and whole truth or attempting to diverge answering her question directly, Olivia just rolled her eyes. Aidan always had some girl that he taunted and played with, sometimes even more than just one, but he should have known that what he, Aidan Reese, did would spread fast, like wildfire. And it didn’t help that a girl in her year was a major Aidan-fan and source for gossip. Lucky him.
Olivia trailed Aidan out of Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom, Myrtle making some strange whimpering noises of complaint that her cousin was leaving. Olivia had just enough time to shoot the ghost a dirty look before they were back in the halls and surrounded by their peers. Although she was quite annoyed that she did not look half as decent as she should have, Olivia was just glad that Aidan began to get deeper into the subject of that Gryffindor redhead. Apparently, it was worse than she thought. Olivia merely nodded her head, blinked, said a few “Ah.”s and “Oh.”s, but she wasn’t completely comprehending. It was a thing, and she was different, but it wasn’t a big deal? “Yeah, doesn't sound like a big deal." she mumbled dryly as they continued to the common room. Since they were getting closer to it, there were only Slytherins around them. And her thoughts didn’t linger anymore onto Aidan’s little fling with a Gryffindor.
Struggling to make it seem like she wasn’t looking for someone, Olivia turned her head around her to get a good look at the students behind her, and then in front of her. Blinking, a slight frown curved on her lips. He wasn’t here, yet. And then she mentally slapped herself. Why would she be looking for Raphael Stark? The soul purpose that her clothes and hair had been tarnished in the Great Hall and why she had stormed out. Why WAS she looking for him? For the most part, Olivia would have expected herself to hope he got lost in the castle and then some unfortunate accident happening to him. But she was looking for him. This disgusted her. So she continued into the Slytherin Common room, following her cousin silently, trying to let Raphael stay out of her thoughts.
A very vague, light smile crept on Olivia’s lips as she entered the darkly lit, gloomy room, which felt exactly like home. Aidan was right, “Home sweet home.” But it faded into another frown as he did what Aidan Reese usually did: flirt with a girl. Rolling her eyes once again for the night, Olivia was going to sit down, but stopped herself. Eyes scanning the room, she searched for a recognizable face, almost involuntarily, like it was a natural bodily function. But it wasn’t. She was hunting for him again. The Slytherin count occupying the common room had been low, and none of the students had the name Raphael. ‘Maybe he‘s not here ye-’ Another mental slap in the face. Why did she care if he was there or not?
‘Maybe it’s because I want to jinx off that stupid smile of his.’ Olivia suggested to herself, sitting beside Aidan, fuming, ‘Yeah, that’s it. Because I want him to apologize for what he did to me. Idiot.’ Her cousin’s flirting were getting on her nerves, but if she went off in la-la land, his face would pop back up. And she didn’t want that. So, Olivia decided glaring at the floor, cheek on her palm as she rested her elbow on the couch’s arm, would be sufficient to keep everything around her away and everything in her mind to stay out of focus.

Azula watched Aidan after he pulled away from kissing her cheek. She forced a giggle to fall through her lips.
"Of course I'm reading it again." She said and smiled at him and that crooked smile of his. She put on a most convincing act for the fellow Slytherin whom was taking a strange interest in her. "It's my absolute favorite book." she said, her eyes glancing back down into her book. Hard to get was Azula's favorite thing to play. It put her in control, in a way.
"I think you could use a new adventure."
She looked at him, almost shocked that he would suggest such a thing. But a small smile crossed her face.
"You're completely right." she said and closed the tattered book and laid it gently in her lap. She looked at the book, almost angry that she had to play along with Aidan if she wanted to know what his motives where. A snarl crossed her face for just a second, then she looked up and smiled at him.
"What exactly did you have in mind?" Azula had a few things in mind, but all ended with the boy laying face down somewhere and missing a limb or two. She politely smiled at him, and played the part of the innocent school girl, the unsuspecting fool.
Aidan was sa 'friend', (she used that term loosely), but he was also just a great... How could she put this politely?
A great big flirt. Azula liked flirting. Flirting alway seemed mysterious and had ulterior motives, there was always something different behind each word and every horrible pick-up line, that almost made her want to become some sort of expert in the art.
She wanted to be able to manipulate people in such a way that they didn't even realize it.
It was a control thing. She'd figure it out soon enough.

"I cheated myself, Like I knew I would, I told you I was trouble, You know that I'm no good." The moment Lyra laid eyes on Azula Tanaka, she knew exactly what she was going to do to Junko for that sacrilegious act of touching her hair. Exactly. Upon seeing the older girl, she couldn't help but smile. She knew that she was going to cheat on Junko and she didn't even give a ******** took a moment to take out her purple compact and fix her hair quickly, smoothing it back into glorious place. Satisfied with her honey colored locks she applied some lipgloss, then rubbed her lips together and put the compact back in the pocket of her robe. For a moment she watched Aidan talking to Azula and rolled her eyes, approaching the other girl, "Pardonnez moi, Aidan. But I'd like to talk with Azula, " she smiled a bit and kept her tone even, " S'il vous plait? Please?"
If she recalled, Junko and Azula had a thing a couple years back. She had seen the two of them in the commonroom. It was her first year, so she wasn't quite sure if she was right, but her memory was pretty good. And there weren't really any other people of Asian descent (let alone girls) in Slytherin, and she distinctly remembered two asian girls.
Lyra gave Azula another once-over. She was beautiful. She'd never really noticed before that moment, though. And that body . . . touching even her arm would be nice about now. Even though she claimed to hate it, she secretly loved touch. Junko's touch. Her mother's. Anyone's. Just a simple touch. A kiss. A shoulder rub. Anything.
She liked to blame it on her mother's lack of attention as a child.
Crossing her arms, Lyra glanced at the doorway of the commonroom, estimating about 5 or 6 minutes before Junko came through. 5 or 6 minutes to get Azula into the dorms . . . that would definitely be a record for Miss Winner.

Every year was like this since Cecilia’s first. There were people hanging around the corners of the Slytherin common room, mostly in groups of girls, and groups of boys. Cecilia hated this divide between genders; it was very 4th grade private school. And Hogwarts was a co-ed school, for Merlin’s sake! Cecilia was just leaving the exclusive group of Elisabeth Block and Winnie and Crissy Sumpter. She was in search of something more exciting, as the ridiculously snobby ‘Princess’ Block and the ridiculously dumb Sumpter sisters were not Cecilia’s idea of fun.
Just after she had completely changed her outfit, Cecilia had entered the circle to get gossip. It was the usual mix of summer holiday and whatever Aidan Reese was up to. Cecilia had said, “Well, this sounds riveting,” dripping in sarcasm, and took her leave. She took her glam rock clad self right through the seating area where the very Mr. Reese was seated with one of Cecilia’s classmates and his own cousin, who looked thrilled out of her socks. Cecilia knew better than to bother.
Arriving at the refreshments table, Cecilia picked up a peach tart, ate it in two bites, and poured herself some ginger ale. The firewhiskey looked tempting, but Cecilia decided that if she wanted to do any writing tonight, she should stray away as usual. She turned around, sipped her drink, and surveyed the area.
In an attempt not to look like a hawk ready to snag some prey, Cecilia didn’t cross her arms and she leaned against the table, putting out a relaxed vibe, as if her outfit didn’t scream ‘casual!’ At least some of the other kids had changed too. Cecilia was just in her usual clothes: a black and white striped tank top under a dark violet red one, with grey jeans, and a couple of silver chain necklaces. A pair of navy blue flats with ribbon laces decorated her feet, while her belt would be sure to catch a few eyes. It was one of Cecilia’s favorites, as it was white leather, and it had a single snake painted on it, so it looked like the snake was eating its own tail. Last but not least of course, Grandma Grace’s silver was on her right hand, which was now running through her naturally curly, pale blonde hair.

The young Slytherin soon started to carry her friend out, half dragging half allowing her to walk. She wasn't heavy and it was no burden to Skylar, but she wasn't sure how she should do this. At the moment, Mel was delicate and emotional; Skylar knew what that was like, even if she'd never shown it. The wrong thing could make Mel burst into another wave of emotions that could traple over the two of them, send them backwards and down a flight of stairs or crashing into the floor or wall, or even other students.
But she soon felt the girl's weight leave her as she blinked in stupor. She looked to her side only to hear - and see - her best friend. She gave a small smile, but as she watched him helping the girl down the hall, she felt a burst of anger surge through her. She felt like she wasn't worthy of helping, that she wasn't a friend, or that he felt she was too weak. Why had Rain Larks taken Mel away, though she'd been helping her? Stupid males, she thought, letting out a huff silently before catching up to them.
She listened to Rain's joke and merely nodded her head, becoming more miffed now. She enjoyed making fun of the first years, but apparenly it would have to wait another night or so. "You're right... but right now, Mel is more important! I'll just take my anger from that Griffy out on them tomorrow morning," she mumbled, her eyes flashing dangerously at a few second years who'd been walking, staring at them. Her fingers twitched as though they would reach for her wand and curse them, but she restrained herself and turned her eyes ahead, still radiating hatred; it seemed that she wanted to knock down the wall suddenly she looked so mad.
(( sorry guys, writers block ))

Aidan cracked a crooked smile, and opened his mouth to answer her, but was interrupted by Lyra's almost too-polite bilingual interruption. Instead he turned his smile to her, and said softly, "Of course." Though he'd never taken a particular interest in Lyra Winner, he had to admit she was pretty. Not exactly the kind of pretty he usually went for, but a different kind. It was good, and bad, all at the same time. Aidan reigned in his thoughts on the matter of her looks and decided he'd explore them later, and he stood up from the sofa and ambled over to the 'refreshment' table.
"Good to see you, Cecilia," he said smoothly, helping himself to a plate full of desserts. Unable to resist - of course - he poured himself a glass of firewhiskey, and while he poured he snuck a few glances at the beautiful blonde girl next to him. He smiled a little, and turned around to face her, leaning with his hand on the table. "Good summer?"
Cecilia amazed him. It seemed every time he saw her, she looked only more beautiful, more breathtaking. And yet, she was one of the few girls at the school who showed little interest in him. He didn't understand it. Shouldn't she be all over him? Shouldn't he be able to practically hear her heart racing right now? That's the way it was with other girls. Their cheeks would flush and they'd stumble over their words around him. Aidan liked it, but it sometimes got annoying. Cecilia was something new to him, and he liked it even more.
He glanced over to his cousin. Still zoned out. He smiled to himself. Same old Olivia, always good for not being completely there. [ sorry...is that alright? i'll fill out a relationship form when i have the time, but for now i really need some sleep ] let me in your brain i'll be in your heart i'll be that good thang that you just can't put down

Azula really could have hit Lyra right then. Aidan was in the middle of complimenting her and treating her like the Goddess she was.
And then Lyra had to interrupt.
She sighed and smiled, standing up, her book held under her right arm and against her him.
"What do you need, Lyra?" She asked, her voice almost chilling as she stared the younger girl down. Azula wasn't a fan of Lyra Winner. Not usually. She would admit the girl was a downright b***h and a beautiful girl, but much too cocky for her own sake.
Lyra knew she was beautiful, and didn't play coy. She was the kind of girl who went fishing for compliments and checked her reflection every four seconds. Azula wasn't impressed so far with her.
Oh, and her main squeeze was Junko.
Lyra was picking at her leftovers, but good luck. Junko was a handful and so foreign to the culture of Britain that it was hard to get her to understand much of anything. Junko was one wild thing and wasn't fit for someone as proper as she or Lyra.
Azula looked over to see Aidan was complimenting the irritatingly beautiful Cecilia. Azula hated whomever got more attention than herself. Especially if it was from a male whom she considered worthy enough to flirt with. Her eyes scanned the common room. She had already lost interest in Lyra.

"Let's get lost tonight You could be my black Kate Moss tonight Play secretary, I'm the boss tonight. And you don't give a ******** what they all say, right?" Lyra glanced at the book by Azula's hip. Interested. The cover was ragged, like it had been picked up and set down a lot. Stuffed in purses, over night bags, and her trunk. Like it was taking a lot of crap just for being owned by that girl. She wondered, vaguely, how things could hold together long after they probably should have fallen apart.
Taking her eyes away from the book, she put her hands behind her back a looked back at the sixth year before her. What could she say to get her upstairs? She could be honest, and tell her she was upset with Junko and just wanted to mess with her. A little. Or she could lie. Lie and say that she'd always been attracted to Azula and wanted to get to know her.
That wasn't just a lie. That was a fiction novel. Well, a fiction novel based around about an iota of truth. She actually did want to get to know Azula, just not that bad. She did wonder why she was in Slytherin when she was so irritatingly wonderful like a Gryffindor. Which, made her wonder how she ever went out with Junko. Since Junko hated Gryffindors (but, maybe, that was the reason).
"I just wanted your help with something." she played with a strand of hair, twisting it subconsciously, licking her lips, "I'd ask someone else . . . but you're the best person for the job. Someone who'll do it right."
Whoever said flattery would get you nowhere never flattered the right people.
She glanced over at the entrance to the common room hoping that Junko might have gotten help up by Valentina or Estelle or something shiny that strategically happened to float by. Maybe her robes would get caught in a door. Lyra smiled, thinking of all the things that could happen. She hoped she fell down a flight of moving stairs. She didn't have to get hurt too bad.
Just enough for karmatic reasons.

Azula arched her eyebrows at Lyra. She didn't believe the girl. She had an air about her that screamed of deceit and lies. She wasn't physically attracted in the least.
...But then the girl had to flatter her and she smiled. Her ego pulsated with joy, wanting more praise, more flattery and compliments. She shifted her weight, the book resting on her hip comfortably, like a small child.
"Lead the way." She said, gesturing for Lyra to, as she just said, lead the way.
She didn't find Lyra's act all too wonderful in the least.
Her hair was a gross blonde sort of color and her tongue was doing some weird thing on her lips. It was...bizzare to say the least.
Azula was never one for obvious flirtations. She prefered to be subtle, like a snake. She would coil up and watch, rattle her tail once in a while to warn those who passed that she was dangerous. She would gently sneak up and wrap around legs and arms, then completely.
She would be one with a person...then leave them drained in the back alley all alone. She wasn't much for the aftermath of a good ********. All she wanted was the initial destination.
Azula smiled at Lyra and batted her eyelashes. She would assist the girl in whatever she needed assistance with.

[ I ]f Melanie wasn't in such a delicate state she probably would have been laughing at herself. After all, she was so weak that she was practically being dragged by her Slytherin friend, Skylar. Skylar was half allowing Melanie to walk on her own, but her legs were so weak that she was grateful for Skylar's kind but somewhat forceful gesture. She looked at the older Slytherin girl and gave her a small but grateful smile, she was glad to be able to count Skylar as one of her friends. They were just about to reach the crowd of students at the double doors when Rain kindly and smoothly declared, "I've got her." Melanie opened her mouth to protest but as soon as he wrapped his arm around her thin waist, she closed her mouth and no longer wanted to protest. His touch made her heart beat quickly and her cheeks flush a light pink. Flustered by feelings that she wasn't used to Melanie very lightly stumbled but quickly recovered and looked at the pair of slytherins with her non-convincing and reddened blue eyes and lightly murmured, "I'm fine, really." She mentally sighed and continued let Rain support her as they made their way down to the Slytherin commonroom.
As Rain hinted at his and Skylar's tradition Melanie suddenly felt guilty. Though she had never approved of their regular torturing of the first years, she felt awful for spoiling their start of the year fun. She looked at Skylar and then looked to Rain as she softly said, "Aww you guys, I'm sorry!" Her reddened blue eyes were shining with tears, "I didn't mean to spoil your fun!" These tears that were forming in her eyes did not fall, she had shed far too many tears to count tonight, and she was strong enough to hold them in. Melanie wished that she wasn't in such a weak and emotional state so her friends could go off and have their twisted version of fun, but she knew that she wouldn't be able to walk very far without some sort of support. The stairs were a bit of challenge to get down with Melanie and Rain so closely intertwined but they safely made it down them to the entrance of the Slytherin commonroom. Melanie said the required password and the three of the Slytherins made their way into the familiar, dreary commonroom.
Melanie looked around the commonroom and saw many familiar faces: Aidan, Olivia, Lyra, Cecelia, Azula and unfortunately she saw Elisabeth and her brainless followers Winnie and Crissie. She knew that the older Slytherins normally liked to kick off the school year with a party, but Melanie had normally skipped out on it and stayed up in her dorm. they must have gotten to the commonroom more quickly than Melanie had thought because it didn't look like much of a party had started just yet. Though she wasn't in a party mood it might have been just the thing to get her out of this emotional rut. And with this thought Melanie suddenly felt the urge to change, to get out of the tear soaked uniform she was currently wearing. She gently placed her hand on Rain's, which was resting strongly on her hip, and she gently lifted his hand up and undid the arm that was around her waist. Melanie looked at Rain kindly and said softly, "Thank you Rain." She looked at Skylar as she said, "And you too! Thank you Skylar." She playfully placed a hand on her hip and said to the pair of Slytherins, "Now I don't know about you two, but I want to get out of this uniform." She giggled half convincingly to hide the pain she was suffering from, as she headed toward the stairs. She was halfway to the stairs that led to the girls' dorms when she turned around and said to Skylar, "Aren't you coming dear?"
Melanie longed for Skylar to come up and follow her, she needed to be around people, she secretly hated to be alone, and in a time like this was when she needed others the most. She was obviously putting up a front to hide her pain but only who knew her well enough such as Rain, Raphael, Olivia and possibly Skylar would be able to see through her front and know that she was hurting.
