Clarissa Finley entered the common room through the portrait of the fat lady. She gave a sigh, and sat down in one of the armchairs by the fire. It had been a long day, and she was glad to be able to sit down and relax.

[.L.O.S.E.R.] Clarissa Finley entered the common room through the portrait of the fat lady. She gave a sigh, and sat down in one of the armchairs by the fire. It had been a long day, and she was glad to be able to sit down and relax. Alex came through the portrait hole as if it were the gateway to heaven. She was glad that she could get away from her horrid new stepmother (who, because Alex was a witch, called her a disgusting rat that belonged locked up. Of course her father never knew about how horrid she was treated.) She was thinking of loop holes to put a curse on her stepmother when she spotted Clarissa had collapsed in one of the armchairs in front of the fireplace. "Hey, I am so glad we are finally back," Alex said to Clarissa, trying her best to keep her from jumping out of her seat in surprise. Alex slid into the closest armchair she could find. It was pretty empty in the commonroom.

"I like your family and I bet you do miss them as much as I miss my dad, I look at this one bright side, no more time with the evil stepsister Becky! Or hey, I got two, no more time with the stepmother, Nina somethin or other!" Alex said this in a tone that would make Clarissa think she hated her new family and considering how mean they were to her, she did HATE them. Boy, was she glad she still had her father!

Kailey walks into the common room slowly, admiring the furniture and the warm fire. She smiles slightly and moves towards the nearest chair.

Clarissa was staring at the fire when someone entered the room. She didn't look to see who it was until Alex said "Hey Kailey!". Clarissa looked to the armchair where her friend was sitting and said, "Hey there. How's life?"

[.L.O.S.E.R.] Clarissa was staring at the fire when someone entered the room. She didn't look to see who it was until Alex said "Hey Kailey!". Clarissa looked to the armchair where her friend was sitting and said, "Hey there. How's life?" "It's fine now that my life isn't in the hands of the stepmother, and evil child to go along with that." Alex sighed. "I kinda wish things would go back to the way they were before." She paused for a moment. "So, how about you?"

"Pretty good. You shouldn't really complain about your stepmom. You could have it a whole lot worse. I've seen some pretty bad stepmothers in my time, it's pretty much the rule that they have to be evil. I've only come across one kind stepmother in all my life, and she wasn't just mediocre. She was awesome to those kids. Treated 'em like her own." Clarissa's eyes had returned to the fire as she said this, and she stared as the flames slowly but surely were devouring the logs.

"Oh, I'm fine." Kailey says distantly witout looking away from the flames that filled the fireplace. She let her mind wander without looking away from the hearth. Yawning, Kailey slumps in her chair looking exhausted.

Alex nodded at what Kailey said. She turned and replied, "that's true." Looking into the flames again she got lost in her past. She shook her head when she saw her mother's death that would replay in her head like a movie she had seen over and over. "I think I'll go read for a bit, see you guys later." Alex left through the portrait hole with her messanger bag and was off to the library.
