Username: The Paradox
Posting: Sporadic.
Name: Keiji Mousetsu (spoken properly would be Mousetsu Keiji)
True Name: Unknown by any but him at this time.
Clan: None
Age: Unknown. It is known however, that Keiji 'died' on the mortal plane during the time of the Akkadian Empire, during Sargon I's rule as well as the rule of his sons and grandson. This would date his human life's beginning back to sometime in 2350 BC, some 4300 or more years ago. How long he has been in Soul Society since then, and whether he came to Soul Society first, or later after appearing elsewhere, is unknown. How he was able to live well over 200 years before his death is also unknown. Why he's still in the academy, or whether it's his first time, only the instructors know for certain. It is intereting to note, however, that Keiji ended his physical life right at the end of the Akkadian Empire, in 2150 B.C.
Gender: Male
Rank: Academy Student
~Appearance~
Height: 6'1
Weight: 170
Hair: Keiji has black hair that descends down the middle of his back. The length of his hair is great, reaching just above his knees. The hairstyle he wears is straight. Typically, he keeps his hair in a long braid down his back, however he is also known to wear it loose, when not training or in battle. Keiji's hair has deep violet streaks through it, and this is a natural color.
Eyes: Keiji has black eyes. His eyes tend to be kind, though at times somewhat unreadable if he is in deep thought. The shape of his eyes is foreign, so unless one asks, it would be hard to tell exactly where he is from.
Clothing: While he wears the standard white of an academy student, when he is alone, he wears Akkadian robes, with old sumerian script written into the lining of the main cloak of the robes. The robes are colored in black, the symbol of a priest of the night, with deep violet inner lining on the outer cloak that covers the robes, marking royalty, or a royal servant or advisor. The aforementioned script is woven in gold and silver into the violet colored lining. The robes are of velvet, heavy, and covering. On the mortal world, it would not be uncommon to see him in a well pressed three piece suit, black with silver of course, with a dark purple shirt and golden tie. Usually, this would be accented by small black sunglasses, or reading glasses, giving him a scholarly look. Keiji also, when in his robes, wears an upper half-mask with the symbol of a butterfly carved within.
Physical Description: Keiji is obviously not a native of Japan from his early life, though if he has another name it's well and truly unknown. It's easy to see he's not Japanese; he stands just over six feet tall, and has very slightly dusky skin, not unlike that of a slowly darkening sky, though he isn't black-skinned by any means; the tone is very subtle, but noticeable. The actual literal color of his flesh is hard to define. His fingers are nimble, and his hands are well formed. It's obvious looking at him that in his previous life, he was adept with his weapon, though changing forms to a spirit seems to have stripped some of that skill. He still, however, bears the marks upon his hands of much sword use. Keiji's lips are somewhat thin, but he doesn't have a sickly look at all; his physical structure is limber, but not too thin or too large. He is a near perfect specimen for his height and weight. He moves with an assured, long-legged stride and a near unnatural grace. Unlike someone who is simply agile, Keiji's movement is also in a sense, a feeling of a presence; one doesn't watch him move so much as feel him move. Keiji at times, seems to be staring off into space, as if there is something he is paying attention to that others can't seem to see. This gives him a 'spacy' look, making some interpret his manner as either distant or distracted. Keiji is always well groomed and well kept; seeing him dirty would be more of a rarity than anything else.
Background: Keiji's origin begins back sometime in the Akkadian kingdom in or around 2350 BC, during the reign of King Sargon I, where he served under said king as a Court Sorcerer. During this time, Keiji learned the secrets of life and death, the power of the Shinigami, chosen by the gods, and of their purpose. From the time he served with Sargon, until his death, and subsequently under his sons and grandson, Keiji studied the powers and significant effects of Reishi, and its connection to magic. During this time, Keiji made contact with something, or someone, that granted him a gift; a spell that allowed him to change his body into Reishi, similar to dying, yet without the actual process of death. Having already extended his mortal life well and close to over two hundred years, using other various arts, he had fulfilled the qualifications to ascend into a spiritual form.
Using all power at his disposal, Keiji performed the Ritual of Eternal Soul Twilight, and changed his flesh into spirit. By doing this, he was able to avoid the entire process of having a chain of fate, and thus circumvent ever transforming into a hollow. In a sense, he had performed soul burial on himself before even being dead, by use of a magical ritual. In between life and death, Keiji was able to gain the state of a Soul, a citizen of Soul Society, without ever going through the motions. During his time on earth, he used the magic left at his command to make it so that he would not be detected by other Souls, and able to walk thus, invisibly, Keiji wandered the world. Neither other Shinigami, or Hollows could detect him, making him free of any hostilities while he took in all the world as it changed. Over the course of four thousand years, Keiji learned, and learned, and learned. He studied the Shinigami, their Kidou, their Zanpakutou. He studied the Hollows, their transformations, their Arrancar, their Vizard. He went into Hueco Mundo undetected, following in a gateway made by a Menos; he studied there, learned the weaknesses of Hollows and their kin.
Sometime in recent years, Keiji went into Soul Society. Technically, he would be considered a Ryoka as he was not guided by a Shinigami or given a proper soul burial, but since he performed his own, technically he IS a Soul, and has the ability to be a Shinigami. Unlike most Souls who have the chance to become a hollow, Keiji is a 'Pure' soul, untainted by the dark side of Hollows, flowing with the pure Reiatsu of a soul alone. For him there was no death; no rebirth. He has persisted, as he is, since time immemorial. Keiji, flitting from place to place, quickly made an impression. He became the talk of many noble houses, with his excellent manners, good etiquette, and endearing, quiet personality. He was a well educated man, having over four millenia of education to draw from, both learned and self taught. Having been able to manipulate his own reiatsu for quite some time, though unable to actually create an increase, Keiji found that in Soul Society, he was able to control the energy given him by his transformation where his own magics had slowly ebbed away.
During his travels in Soul Society, the aura around him of almost pure light was nearly palpable; he gained the notice of Yamamoto, who personally recommended him to the Academy. Passing his preliminaries with not only flying colors, but exemplary service to the teachers in the early days, he was named most likely to be chosen for a squad straight out of graduation by many of his teachers and peers. Currently, still in his first year, Keiji is often seen aiding the teachers in their endeavors, as he is much older than most of them; his knowledge of the mortal world, as well as historically accurate details makes him invaluable as a research assistant, and reference library of numerous facts. He never refuses to help anyone in need of information, and seems a kindly man indeed. Still, there is one small detail that is not known. His name, the one he had in the time of the Akkadian kingdom, he keeps to himself..even Yamamoto hasn't been able to glean it.
Personality: Keiji is the epitome of helpful. If someone needs help, he's there, with a hand out, ready to help someone up. He acts as a sort of father figure, or older brother figure to anyone that needs a leg up, and he's always ready to give his assitance when asked. When he isn't helping others, he's studying dilligently, and practicing all of his arts on equal measure. He wishes to be an all-style fighter, though those who watch him will notice that he's got quite a lot of skill for appearing so young. Though his time as a spirit made him unable to do anything but wander, he kept up his sword exercises. While his skills didn't gain much, they also didn't deteriorate. Keiji is quiet, though outspoken on things of note. He tends to be one of the first to answer, and most often, he likes to study alone.
Other: Keiji's goals are unknown at this time. He doesn't seem to be interested in a great position, but he is certainly qualified for one on his merits alone. Time will tell what will become of this unusual self-made Shinigami. It seems if nothing else, that Keiji holds high ideals for the future of Soul Society, and what it will become. In him some say, will come a time of beauty, where the streets shall be gold-gilded, and culture will run the land to the very last man, as did his empire of Akkadia, thousands of years ago. Keiji is a very religious man, believing in Old Justice, and the Old Gods.
