Answer: Elmo was never performed by Frank Oz, but is currently depicted by the very talented puppeteer Kevin Clash. Frank Oz is better noted for playing Miss Piggy, Fonzy Bear, and Yoda.
Elmo did inspire the TMX the X standing for 10 as the toy in a 10th year anniversary version of the original Tickle Me Elmo doll that came out in 1996.
Elmo has gone overseas from Sesame Street plenty of times including a few trips to Australia appearing as a guest on many mourning shows and the late night show Rove Live. I saw his last appearance on Rove Live and it was hilarious in wit and truly brilliant. Of course Kevin Clash was there to play the part of Elmo and be interviewed as him self as well. Grover made an appearance on the show earlier that in 2k6 providing an equally monumental performance.
Elmo in Grouchland- Mandy Patinkin was the actor that played the villainous part of Huxley in this film at first I thought his character was obnoxious though the more I watched I realized that if I was still a kid I would have really disliked Huxley in a believable way which is perfect considering the discovery I would have gone through with Huxley eventually becoming reformed.
