RP Rules & Post Code Profile example Elaboration & Specific Guidelines for Profiles Post example Elaboration & Specific Guidelines for Posting Hogwarts Rules & Dress Code
If you have been in any of my past RolePlays, these rules will look pretty familiar... - Follow Gaia ToS, of course. First and always. - Secondly, I am the Goddess and the Ultimate Ruler Dictator President of this guild. You will listen to me at all times. And if I'm not on, chill. Send me a PM. But only if you have a BIG problem. As the creator of the guild, I believe that the rules shall be followed and I will NOT hesitate to enforce the rules. Other than me and Saraian, my right hand crew member, every single participant in the Roleplay is equal. - NO swearing, death threats, harrasment (physical or mental) etc, in OOCIt's just mean. - YOU are responsible for your actions. If you get in trouble, it's not my fault. - Please, NO bumping, NO advertising, NO spam, crap, etc. There is a place for that, and if it's not set a side in the guild, don't MAKE a place for it. Suggest it in the proper board and I'll take it into consideration. - This is a literate Roleplay. Please post in complete sentances, with correct punctuation, capitalization, and spelling. Repeated errors will get a warning, and if you do not heed, you don't get to Roleplay. The minimum for posts is three paragraphs. But please do not post more than ten paragraphs per post. - Key for posting:
"Dialouge" 'Thoughts' ((OOC)) See my example Below. - One user may have up to three characters. Unless you neglect your extra character(s). - Romance and violence are allowed to PG-16. If it gets worse (which it shouldn't!) DON'T take it to the PMs. Just leave. I'll ban you if I have to. - No fighting in OOC. It messes up the board, and I just don't like it. If you have a problem, come to me. In a PM or a post, I shall except either. - You CANNOT: post for other people / god mod / take over the thread / kick out other players / etc. You will be kicked out and/or reported. - KEEP ACTIVE! If you do not post in 10 days, you will be sent a PM from the Post Fairy, and you will have another chance to post. If you: go on vacation / take a break / get grounded / are swamped with work- Tell me ahead of time or right after you get back. - IMPORTANT: please post your profiles in your journal. I like to keep my journal as a sort of back-up. This doesn't mean we don't have a place for our profiles; there is a correct place for them. Here's mine, for an example. - Lastly, have fun! This is the most important rule, as it is the basis for a roleplay. All GOOD roleplays are fun.In the event that you believe your character needs to be an Animagus, Veela, Metamophmagi, Werewolf, Vampire, or any combination of the sort... read this: In order for you to play a made-up character with special abilities, you must complete the following:
a 4-hearty-paragraph essay explaining the details of the specific quality, how a person becomes one, and why you believe your character should be one.
Try me. Below, I will post examples of what I expect in profiles and posts. Feel free to exceed my expectations, but not too much. ;D

TH!S !S WHAT YöUR PRöF!LE SHöULD LööK L!KE updated New Years [behind the scenes] Midnite_Skye [my parents named me] Leigh || Francine || Guidry[but you can call me] regularly, just Leigh. [if you want to make me mad, call me] Francine, Klutz or Spaz [you may think of me as] freaky [but i like to think of myself as] quirky, unique[i'm a] girl [i like the] boys[the hat sorted me] Gryffindor[born] October 8th [i'm a] Libra [and i've this many years lived] 13[and this many years magical] 3[my mother and father are] Amelia and Garth Guidry [so therefore i am] Muggleborn[my wand is] 13 1/3 [inches long, made of] Pond Cypress [wood, with a core of] an Augrey feather[Expecto Patronum! and out comes a] Red Panda [i give all my love to my] Pet Rock [named] Jimmy. [she could never be responsible enough to take care of any real pet][athlete, not a jock] Quidditch? Yes, Left Chaser [don't judge on what you see] Leigh's hair is light brown and wavy. It is always parted so that the majority of her hair is on her left side [your left]. In the fall, it is a bit longer than shoulder length, but before spring rolls around it grows and almost reaches her waist. When she returns home from school, her mother forces her to have it cut to the shoulder, and the cycle begins anew. Her face is thin and could be described as both oval- and heart-shaped, as it is equally wide at her forehead, cheekbones, and jaw line, but her chin is rather softly pointed.
Her eyes are a cold, light shade of blue-green, but she thinks they’re nothing special. When she smiles, her thin lips part to reveal white teeth, slightly rounded, and she can seem child-like. As for her skin, it’s light but not fair, and though it may seem to glow in candle light, fluorescent bulbs make her look positively sickly. Leigh tends to wear a fair amount of make-up, usually including eyeliner, mascara, and clear lip gloss [always flavored]. Leigh always has crazy nail polish on; usually dark base colors and light accents like polka-dots or stripes.
Leigh is most proud of the mark on her cheek- a tiny, harmless mole under the outer corner of her right eye. It’s not much, but Leigh thinks of it as her “defining feature”. Leigh’s least favorite feature of hers is her height [at age 11, she was 5’5”]. Now, she stands at 5’8” which is quite tall for her age and many people think she’s older than in reality-but it helps when trying to flirt with older guys. And because she’s so tall, Leigh has big, clumsy feet, too [size 10 US]. But one of the only good things about being tall is the fact that Leigh is very skinny, quite bony, actually.
As far as clothes go, they reflect her personality. Leigh owns many big tee shirts with graphic prints and cheeky sayings, but she’s not afraid of more formal tops, as long as she can pair them with jeans. And because her legs are so long and skinny, Leigh can get away with skinny-cut jeans, mini skirts and short shorts. Her accessories include wide, chunky belts worn over her clothes; colorful tote bags of all shapes and sizes; legwarmers and funky, multicolored socks; plastic, neon colored, “kiddy” jewelry; Converse Low-Tops; and anything with Hello Kitty on it. When Leigh found out Hogwarts had uniforms, she was upset but managed to slide past the rules… with as many bracelets, necklaces, and rings on as possible [without getting in trouble]. [or on what i've done] Born October 8th in New York City, to a Muggle family, Leigh was automatically and unknowingly sheltered against anything magical. Amelia and Garth Guidry were so proud of the simple fact that their baby girl, Leigh was healthy baby. Four years earlier, Leigh's parents had a son who was born sickly. He had died at age 6, so Leigh barely knew her big brother. His death sent Amelia and Garth into an unreal misconception that the world was out to get their children. Part of their strange outlook on the world came from their jobs, Leigh had figured. Amelia works as a nurse in a large hospital, and seems to think diseases just pop up from nowhere. Garth works as a security guard for a museum- nothing too dangerous, but it's enough to make him slightly paranoid.
When she was little, strange accidents always happened around Leigh. She didn’t know it then, but Leigh had made those things happen when she got excited, afraid or upset. Because of these mysterious events, Leigh was kept away from the outside world more so than she already had been. Leigh tried everything to get her parents to trust her - her room was even clean once upon a time. But after a few hundred futile attempts, Leigh gave up and rebelled. She had really done her best to show her parents she was responsible.
Leigh's rules were basically as follows: keep the windows of the car rolled up (you could lose a limb!), don't give anyone our phone number or address (they aren't listed in the phone book), wash hands frequently (preferably every hour) and wipe the toilets before sitting down, let Mom and Dad answer the door, accept the clothes Mom picks out... you get the idea. Leigh was never let out of the house other than to go to her all-girls private school, which her parents drove her to and from.
Leigh’s favorite holidays had always been Halloween and Friday the 13th, because strange stuff always happens on those days, and no one ever blames Leigh for odd occurrences. Because of her love for all things Halloween, Leigh was more excited than confused when she found out she was going to a school for magic. Something about being a witch and fitting in with other witches and wizards gave her great joy.
Her first year was hectic. Leigh was so excited she couldn’t control her emotions or her magic, and set off quite a few accidents in and out of the castle. Peeves took quite a liking to her, but most of the students and teachers labeled her as a Jinx. In her next years at Hogwarts, Leigh tried to get into Quidditch to make friends. She was a fair player as long as she didn’t have to keep goals, seek the Snitch, or beat Bludgers. So Chaser it is!
Unfortunately for her, with each new coming year, there come new players willing to take her spot. For now, she's holding on to her position... but she may find her way onto the reserve squad soon. As an added bonus to stress caused from Quidditch issues, Hogwarts is now harder than ever for her. Classes have actually become challenging, and her best subject has become Divinaiton, as it doesn't take much brainpower to read tealeaves. [judge on who i am] Leigh’s a bit of a rebel. And she’s got her parents to thank for that. If they hadn’t kept her isolated from the rest of the world, she would be perfectly normal. Sometimes she argues just to put her opinion in, even it’s wrong. Leigh tends to be brutally honest. And if you're hurt by it, she'll torture herself for being that way. Repetitive apologies come out of her mouth like machine gun shots.
It's surprising to people how Leigh isn’t more coordinated from getting around Mt. Junk in her room at home. Yes, Leigh is a bit messy. She tends to lose any papers that go in her school bag, so she carries a lot of things in her pockets. So, Leigh isn't the best student. Any class requiring books, memorization, and most spells isn't her best subject. She's much more fond of Herbology, Astronomy, and Divinations.
Contrary to popular belief, Leigh is quite harmless. She has a crazy desire to be trusted. She knows that if you trust someone, they’re likely to trust you back, and Leigh lives by that principle. The only being she'd ever hurt (and certainly not on purpose!) would be animals. It just ties in with the whole "irresponsible" thing. As much as Leigh would love to have a black cat, she'd forget to feed it or something and, well, it would die.
Lastly, you guessed it. No social life + Leigh’s parent’s rules = no boys. Leigh’s favorite thing about Hogwarts is the fact that her parents aren’t there, so she is free to flirt with whichever boys she likes… and there are a lot of them. [i love] boys || glitter || having fun || music || boys || anything related to Halloween: costumes | parties | candy | magic | black cats [even though she can’t take care of them] | orange, green, and black || and boys [i loathe] misplacing things || homework || forgetting names or dates || not being trusted || being thought poorly of || having to study so much || meat [last but not least] She usually carries a mini etch-a-sketch, and doodles while wandering the halls, so it's likely that she'll bump into everyone sooner or later. Vegetarian

See, it's nice and organized. I want at least: 2 paragraphs for appearance, a 3rd is optional for clothing. 3 paragraphs for biography, start from birth to the present and 2 paragraphs for personality.
If you need help with your profile, please contact me. When it comes to subjects like wands, pets, Quidditch, etc. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE have some explination to back up your facts. And, yes, My subjects do have explination. For example: Leigh's wand is made of Pond Cypress - it grows in America, like she did, and it is water-proof, rot-proof, and infestation-proof, so even a person as clumsy as Leigh can take care of it. Augrey feather core - I wanted something unique, but an Augrey resembles a Phoenix, it is green-black in color and cries when rain is about to fall. Lastly, it's 13 1/3 inches, I just thought that would be a funny coincidence. [if you want to argue with me that: Cypress is not a magical, or waterproof, or whatever;; or that an Augrey is not a real creature, or that it would not work with wands... try me. I'll either kick your butt, or just ban you] Leigh's pet is a rock. Read the whole "Leigh can be irresponsible and clumsy" thing. Perfectly logical. And as for the Quidditch position, heck, there had to be something right with her, and I explain it in the Bio.

TH!S !S WHAT YöUR PöSTS SHöULD LööK L!KE Click! The television's glow illuminated a small bedroom that seemed to be packed with what normal society would call junk. Notebooks, shoeboxes, and wrinkled clothes provided a base on which nail polish bottles, batteries, and chocolates still in their wrappers were piled. A layer of ripped and crumpled scraps of paper littered the floor where hills of clutter didn't touch. Any cleaning service in New York City would have gladly tackled this room... if they were paid in pure gold and diamonds.
But Leigh lived, slept, and entertained herself day after day in her tiny bedroom without even acknowledging her mess. It was all part of her current plan - if Leigh's room got so messy that you couldn't even walk in... it would show her parents, right? The plan, like most of Leigh's previous ones, was half-baked.
"-all with Goo-B-Gone! Order now and receive a second pair of our super Goo-B-Gone gloves, completely free!" A fat man in the television spoke to Leigh. She rolled over on her un-made bed, thinking middle-aged man was much more attractive upside-down. Click! "Monster Marathon Month" came a low, cold stereotypically evil voice came from the speakers. Clips of classic movies like The Blob, The Wolf Man, Jeckle and Hyde, and Frankenstein flew across the screen.
Leigh peered over to the digital clock as she rolled back over onto her belly. The blue letters numbers told her it was 3:27 am, October 8th. She had time to kill, and Leigh turned up the volume a tad. Only three more hours until her parents would wake up and knock on the door politely, asking her to come down to a not-so-surprising 11th birthday breakfast.
At seven, Leigh was in a vegetative state, the way you feel after 24 hours without sleep. After over 12 hours in autumn’s darkness, the Sunday morning light coming from a tiny window was the only thing keeping Leigh awake. The only people up at this time on a Sunday were either going to church or, in Leigh's opinion, insane. And her parents definitely fit into the second category. The soft sound of knuckles rapping on the door woke her up completely. "Just a second!" she lazily called to her mother, letting her know that it would be much longer than a second when Leigh came out of her room.
Leigh tried the easiest way to get over to her full-length mirror across the room, but no matter which way she went, Leigh would knock something over with her large feet.. At her age, girls were usually just above five feet in height. But Leigh was a different story. She just barely fit her whole body in the reflection of the 66 inch glass surface. Leigh looked incredibly tired as she peered into her own grey blue eyes. Her light brown hair was messier than ever with tangles all over.
Leigh rummaged through the nearest pile and found a brush. A few minutes of de-tangling found Leigh more tired than she was. There was nothing she liked less than monotony. Leigh exited her room and passed her mother to down the stairs and into the kitchen. Amelia had followed. "Did you sleep in those clothes?" she scolded. "No," Leigh bluntly replied. It was the truth, Leigh hadn't changed out of her clothes from the day before, but she didn't sleep at all that night.
"Don't lie to me, young lady. Just because it's your birthday doesn't give you permission to-" Amelia was just about to finish her sentence and place the plate of pancakes she was holding on the table, but a tapping noise interrupted her. Leigh and her mother looked about for the source; Amelia found it first and almost dropped the pancakes. "G-Garth!" she screamed, unloading the plate on her daughter and running down the stairs leading to the basement.
Leigh peered out the window where her mother had spotted something that frightened her so. A tawny owl had perched itself on the windowsill, rapping it's beak on the pane. The sight took awhile for Leigh's mind to register it, but after it had, she realized it was holding some sort of paper. Leigh abandoned the pancakes on the table, and with a bit of effort, Leigh opened the window and let the bird in. It dropped the envelope in Leigh's hands and flew off.

SEE?
That specific post is 9 paragraphs. Your posts should be between 3 - 10 paragraphs long. You can make it as pretty as you want, add pictures, icons, cool font, etc.
Please contact me if you may not think you are qualified to do this. I consider a Literate person to be one that can write sentances easily, make them flow, and have them be grammatically correct. Also, if you are truly literate, you can depend on describing situations, emotions, places, and people, without much dialogue.
