This is the first from-mind doll I've done in a while, I'm quite happy with how it turned out but I know it could be better, I just can't pick out how. Base is by Angy-Chan, because her stuff is just too darn cute to not doll on. And I know I'm nowhere up to par with anyone else in this guild xD

If anyone can give me some dithering tips, I would love it. It could really come in handy when I try to redo the shading on her skirt - it looks horrible right now haha

First and foremost... never ever ever ever save your pixel art in the form of jpeg. Save in png. It stays much cleaner and you can easily fix any mistakes because the pixels haven't had thier colors ruined.

I know how to dither, but I can't explain it. I wish I could remember who sent me thier dithering example... that was awesome. But you can look at some of my dolls and see how I dither those. Not a lot ore dithered though.

I don't have photoshop on my mom's computer so I can't do those fancy save formats. But I always keep a backup .bmp format since photobucket automatically formats to jpeg. : )

You can save as PNG using mspaint ^_^
I like the shirt, but I'm not so sure that the ropes of a swing would bent that way. 3nodding

Most of the time when I try to save as png and try to open it later, I'll get a little thumbnail of the png symbol. Maybe I just don't do it right xD

*tries it anyway*

...It only shows it as an actual image when I open it with firefox, but IE doesn't like it and just gives me a png image thumnail. I just have to manually put in the .png anytime I save it : )

And the ropes were a bit half-assed. Now that I know I can save a png from MSpaint, I'm gonna try again with another base for another doll : D

Well you can save in sheer BMP as well as JPEG, so you can make corrections later... and if you use www.imageshack.us you can upload a
BMP and it turns it into a PNG.

I use MS Paint for all my pixel art. I always save in PNG... and I use IE. But perhaps it's just your computer settings.
